Have you ever considered what would happen if you brought Codsworth to your deceased wife in the Fallout 4 vault? I decided to find out. First, I needed to recruit him as a companion, so I completed several quests related to him, cleared out all the bloatflies, and explored a nearby small town. After that, Codsworth became available as a companion. Then I immediately headed to the vault with him, activated the elevator with the button, and sneaked inside. Once there, I went straight to my wife's body, and here's what Codsworth said when he saw her.

Codsworth is the best companion in the game IMO. Most other "good aligned" companions get super judgemental and bitchy if you start making "renegade" decisions, but not Codsworth. He's just like, "Sir, I've been noticing you're not acting like yourself. I'm here if you need someone to talk to."

Codsworth's limitations means that he can't feel emotions. He's literally just a computer with advanced AI programming. Curie could easily confirm this as her whole shtick is that before becoming a synth, she doesn't feel any human emotions including romantic towards the PC in any way, but after you can absolutely romance her and she comments that she had never felt such emotions before. We can assume she means that quite literally. That said, he is a fantastic character, and his programming is very robust.

I think the problem is that to access this vault, it isn't just the vault door, you have to use an elevator down to access it first. So what happens if the elevator decides to be an asshole and gets stuck or gets destroyed? Either you're getting stuck down there or unable to get out of the vault. I mean going by videogame rules, you're probably able to fix it no problem with zero engineering experience but realistically I think the possibility of the elevator breaking might be the reason why.

If you read the vault files, you'll notice that food supplies ran out. The vault personnel died in the vault because they could not get access to the outside world for sustenance.

Yeah my biggest gripe with the game is how your spouse is essentially erased from existence once you leave the Vault. You can't bury them, there's no getting over them part to any romance(Wich is especially bad as McCready's whole story is about his dead wife and their kid.), there's not even a scene where you can pass their wedding ring along.

I just said that myself then seen you said that lol you should be able to take codsworth there and show him the body then if you ever unequip him as a follower after that he'll go retrieve her body and bury it and how you find out is after a couple days of not being in sanctuary when you pop back up he'll come find you and tell you to follow him then he leads you to the grave which is a beautiful headstone with flowers and blah blah blah

I don't usually use companions, (mostly because I usually try to play a stealth character), they usually just become members of my favorite settlements, but of all the companions out there, next to dogmeat, Codsworth and Hancock are my favorite companions.

There's a trick to get Codsworth without really starting the Main Quest line, you approach Concord but just as you start seeing main street Concord turn around and run back to Codswort. He'll be available once you tell him "All I found were some Raiders".

Bro, the one thing that sold me on this game was Cogsworth calling me by my name. Don't be alarmed; he called me by my character's name, not my real name. I called my character Walker. And he literally calls me Walker, fully voiced! They must've pre-recorded a lot of English names or something, but wow, it blew me away. I did not expect that level of detail!

Since I mostly used Codsworth's pimped out Automatron version with super high carrying capacity (that sometimes makes it hard to leave elevators)... and the fact that Codsworth doesn't mind me eating the fallen enemies (just like Strong) - he has seen all sorts of things - including my early-on-ventilated-husband while I scrounge for scrap. Nice touch - since I as a player have very little familiarity with the man and very little qualms about Kellogg having that misunderstanding with him - through Codsworth there is at least some connection.
