I think none of it actually happened. Sae says that none of what your testimony lines up with how you got caught, because you were still caught in her palace at the start of the game. She thinks that Joker's either covering for the other Phantoms, or is too out of it from the drugs to think properly

None of the beginning actually happened. The start of the game is him getting caught in the casino. The rest of the game is then Joker's testimony. Sae sees that his testimony doesn't add up and leaves him.

For those that may be reading this and are confused. The past, what you are recounting to sae, as already been done so the fail endings until the interrogation did not happen that is only your memory being wrong, so in this like in the other endings you recall wrongly what happened so in reality sae leaves because She doesn't think you are right in the head and you get murdered

Not trying to be mean, but it takes EFFORT to fail the first palace. The first couple of days, you can't do anything except go to the palace (the game designer is basically forcing you to complete it) so how could you fail !?

I already finished Persona 5 Royal without getting a game over-turned-bad ending like this one. After watching this here on KZfaq, I was like: I’m honestly glad that I was too good at the game to get an ending like this. Whew!😬😬😬

It's a interesting cut scene. The thing is she will always come to the conclusion that you're hallucinating from the drug or bullshitting your testimony (I mean if a person told me they got arrested but it doesnt say so in the reports for that case I'd come to the conclusion they are lying and leave the room.) So it feels like it does spoil a "traitor" but since they game already mentions about a traitor the very beginning of the game it's not really bad.

The thing is that the game till that point is a flashback, and is related of how he says "Where am I?" and the scenes seem to be cutted one to another, then it cames back to the present where everyone knows something is bad with the story, and so it ends

The bad endings from missing the deadlines (up to Sae's palace) show what would happen if Joker failed to convince Sae to listen to him and save him from Akechi.

Everything that happened during the interrogation with Sae is canonically happening on 11/20, so you have already met Akechi and he does want to kill you. Sae is correct and the drug overdose is what is making your memories blurred so he has the false memory of Kamoshida expelling him and that's why Sae gets out and then Akechi shoots you.

@@brijanelle1223 if u miss a deadline u have to restart the week if y die in any boss battle u can restart that battle some advice always try boosting your social stats go into palaces with good armor and weapons take your time your friends will try rushing you to go into a palace don’t listen to them and get healing items and good loot just don’t wait until the last second also there is questions u get at school look up the answers it gives u social points even if it’s one that can be a lot in the long run also spend time with your confidents again look up the confident guides to see what right words u should use if your wondering what a confident is then it’s just your friends and people u can hang out with also this game is very long your gonna have to spare a lot of time basically that’s all the beginners advice I can think of good luck and have a nice time playing

To be fair, even if you fail at infiltrating the palace by the deadline, you couldn’t blame Ren for not being able to actually remember 6 months of events when he’s drugged in that interrogation room.💉 Ren only asked “Where am I” because it’s a false testimony that he was telling Sae about when he failed to face Kamoshida. 😬😬😬
