Seriously, people who say a turbo spins backwards have heads made of bricks and probably haven't ever seen/driven a turbo car in real life
@Jcoxy2k104 жыл бұрын
It simply defies physics... how can a turbo thats spinning at average 80k rpm to 180k rpm spin backwards!... It cant ;) those people have rocks in their skulls.

If that’s what they think, then they obviously don’t have the brains to actually build a car. Sucks to be them.

How do you even think a turbo spinning at like 100k rpm would just switch all of its momentum in the opposite direction
@boostedsixthgen2 жыл бұрын
it dosent spin it it causes backpressure dummy
@noaharentz3176 жыл бұрын
It's impossible to back spin the turbo. If you're running a fully closed system, the (stu stu stu) isn't from the turbine spinning backwards. While the turbo is under load and you release the throttle, the air can not escape (bov). Nor can it recirculate back to the intake (bpv). The back pressure causes the air to Stall throughout the compressor housing, as well as the intercooler. Thus the air has no direction and the turbine wheel spinning 20k+ rpm, chops the stagnant air between shifts resulting in the sound we all love. Although, this causes the thrust bearing to wear prematurely due to the blades fighting the air; rather then spooling down . Anti surge assist the air being drawn in, a great design. But a Dual ball bearing configuration is what can handle a setup like that reliably.
@calebcrossman50846 жыл бұрын
It's a proven fact you don't need a blow-off valve with anti-surge housing. It's physically impossible to backspin a turbo going as fast as their going. Ontop of that, there's also no load on it when you're shifting. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand the physics behind it.

Hey guys you reckon you could help me out. I tried taking my bov just to see what it would sound like for a few pulls, (stock 06 wrx) but as soon as i tried to turn it on it just wouldn't idle and kept turning off. Know why this is?

@gaycha658911 ай бұрын
It’s the sudden change in inertia and resultant back pressure that can damage the vane bearing rather than the blades themselves changing direction. WRC and F1 engines do have not have bovs as they deplo anti lag to maintain turbo boost and therefore inertia. The more highly boost pressure, the greater this effect and subsequent bearing stresses. Common sense really.

Whether this is dangerous or not has more to do with the turbo barring type and its general yield. Jounal barrings are notoriously weak to surge, or 'flutter', in most cases but not always. Old 7.3 powerstrokes run tp38's which are journal barring turbos with no bov or wastegate and they usually never have a problem. Rule of thumb is ceramic ball barring or 360 degree thrust barrings are the gold standard for standing up to turbo flutter

Good luck with NOT having it on unless you're running a aftermarket ecu. I have a turbo swapped SLK 230 Merc with a siemens ecu. Even with stage 2 tuning, I have to run a MAF and MAP clamp, install a 8k ohm resistor to the MAP to limit detected boost AND run a apexi safc to fool it out of limp mode. I even have to keep the original boost diverter valve connected and operational under the hood in order to keep from lighting a CEL. Tuning sucks, especially on cars that aren't popular tuner cars. So in other words, fuck off with your stupid bullshit.

This is to clear up the stereotyping of Honda owners I love my boosted EG I built. I am 54 and built a lot of cars over the years. My 06 Mazda3 sedan I had I loved it a great deal and still 2 years later regret selling it. However, the man who bought it from me has it up for sale👍 I'm going to buy it back hopefully. Its in my top 5 of cars I have ever owned. So you see that just because I have built a boosted Honda doesn't mean I like only Honda's. I agree that most Honda owner are bias dick heads so next time you run into one give him ir her the benefit if the doubt. If the owner is bias to Hondas im sure it won't take that owner long to make a fool out of himself anyhow lol. Great video my friend. Keep them coming👍

What if you have a anti lag system
@iansrving Жыл бұрын
Anti lag is done through tuning and works by retarding the timing such that unburnt fuel and air is ignited in the exhaust manifold to keep the turbo spooling. If you're referring to rocket anti lag then that's a whole other beast. That does the same thing tuning wise, but also makes use of a valve that redirects charge air to the manifold. More air in the exhaust leads to more thorough combustion of unburnt fuel leaving the engine and really keeps the turbo at full boost off throttle. Rocket anti lag was used during rally races for quite some time and I believe it still is in use today.

It NOT good to runa any supercharge or turbo car without a blowoff valve. It damages the throttle plate, can affect air sensor caliberation to the ecu, blow your clamps off your intercooler piping, damage your turbocharger. I would never recommend this. Motorsport engineers , automotive researchers, engine builders don't build these engines and cars through guess work. These parts are all there for a reason, to have a safe, reliable reliable, consistent performance from the parts and the systems going into all vehicles. Running a car without a bov is stupid.
