Welcome back to the mill!
In today's video we are going to go over the beneficial and detrimental effects of letting pine logs age. It is a debatable subject depending on if you need structural lumber or pretty looking wall boards. We go into detail about what happens to the logs if they are left to set from our experiences.
We want to give a huge shoutout to Solomon, he helps us so much editing some of the videos. Be sure to check out his channels, he puts in an amazing amount of effort for our channel as well as his own.

It is always interesting to see milling from different areas. Here in central Alberta, Canada, our bread and butter is lodgepole pine ran through fairly high production dimensional lumber mills. Kiln dried, planed, and shipped off to big box stores as framing lumber. Not much small or specialty milling since they just can't compete.

Sorta the same here we can't compete with big box stores giving away 2x4s but we are better priced on everything else. Thx for watching

Length X width divided by 12. X thickness gives you the board ft per row then X by the number of rows. You only gotta times by the thickness if your doing anything other than 4/4
