Dig into the truth about piranhas and their feeding frenzies, and find out what would likely happen if you fell into their waters.
--
You’re peering into the Amazon River when, suddenly, you lose your footing and fall. Piranhas dart about in the rapidly approaching water. So, are you doomed? Will your fall trigger a feeding frenzy that will skeletonize your body within minutes? Antonio Machado-Allison shares what we know about these purportedly ferocious fish.

🚀THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age in which God saves man from the destruction of this old world" (After Jehovah's work, Jesus became flesh to do His work among people. This is the work for a new age after God ends the Age of Law. When the old age passes, it will be replaced by a new age, and once the old work is completed, a new work will continue the rule of God. This incarnation is the second incarnation of God following the completion of Jesus' work. Every new phase of God's work always brings a new beginning and a new age. When Jesus came to the human world, He brought the Age of Grace and ended the Age of Law. During the last days, the God became flesh again, and when He became flesh this time, He ended the Age of Grace and ushered in the Age of Kingdom. All those who accept God's second incarnation will be taken to Age of the Kingdom, and will personally receive God's guidance. Completely saving man from Satan's influence not only required Jesus to take on man's sins as a sin offering, but also required God to do a greater work to completely rid man of his disposition, which Satan corrupted. All who submit to His dominion will enjoy a higher truth and receive greater blessings. They will truly live in the light, and obtain the truth, the way, and the life.) Almighty God said After JEHOVAH'S WORK, JESUS became a HUMAN being to do His WORK among PEOPLE. 🙏 His WORK was NOT carried out SEPARATELY, but BUILT upon JEHOVAH'S WORK. This is WORK for a NEW AGE after GOD ENDS the AGE of LAW. Also, when the work of Jesus was finished, God still continued His work for the next age, because the entire government of God is always progressing forward. ☀️ When the old age passes, it will be replaced by a new age, and once the OLD WORK is COMPLETED, a NEW WORK will CONTINUE GOD'S RULE. This INCARNATION is the SECOND INCARNATION of GOD FOLLOWING the COMPLETION of the WORK of JESUS. ☀️ Of course, this incarnation does not happen alone, but it is the THIRD PHASE of WORK after the AGE OF LAW and the AGE OF GRACE. ☀️ Each NEW PHASE of GOD'S WORK always BRINGS a NEW BEGINNING and a NEW AGE. There are also corresponding changes in God's disposition, in His way of doing, in the place of His work, and in His name. 🙏 No wonder, then, that it is difficult for people to accept God's work in the new age. But regardless of how man opposes Him, God always does His work, and always leads all mankind forward. ☀️ WHEN JESUS CAME to the WORLD of MAN, He BRINGED the AGE OF GRACE and ENDED the AGE OF LAW. 🙏 In the TIME of the LAST DAYS, GOD again became FLESH, and when He became FLESH at this time, He ENDED the AGE of GRACE and BRINGED in the AGE of KINGDOM.🙏 ALL who RECEIVE GOD'S SECOND INCARNATION WILL BE TAKEN INTO the AGE OF THE KINGDOM, and WILL PERSONALLY RECEIVE GOD'S GUIDANCE. ☀️🙏 Although JESUS DID a LOT with MAN, He only completed the REDEMPTION of ALL MANKIND and became the sacrifice for MAN'S SIN, and did NOT remove from man ALL his BAD DISPOSITIONS. ☀️ The complete saving of man from SATAN'S INFLUENCE NOT ONLY REQUIRED JESUS to take on MAN'S SINS as a SIN OFFERING, but also REQUIRED GOD to do a GREATER WORK to COMPLETELY rid MAN of his DISPOSITION, which SATAN CORRUPTED. And so, AFTER MAN was FORGIVEN of his SINS, GOD RETURNED to the HUMAN BODY to LEAD man into a NEW AGE, and BEGAN the WORK of CHASTISEMENT and JUDGMENT, and this WORK BROUGHT MAN to a more HIGH COVERAGE. ☀️ ALL WHO SUBMIT to His DOMINION WILL ENJOY a HIGHER TRUTH and RECEIVE GREATER BLESSINGS. They will REALLY LIVE in the LIGHT, and GET the TRUTH, the WAY, and the LIFE. 💐🙏 From "Foreword" Fulfillment of "When I looked up, someone handed me a book wrapped in a scroll. I opened it and I read on both sides the prayers, sorrows, and curses." (Ezekiel 2:9-10). ... "His garment was stained with blood. He was called the "Word of God" (Rev. 19:13). The kingdom He brought down and set up in the highest in the sky so that it can occupy His creation in the universe and engrave on it the entirety of His Holy name "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD" 💐 fulfillment of (Mat. 16:18) "And I say as for you, you are Peter, on top of this rock I will build my Church, that even the power of death will not be able to overcome it.". ... and "The Letter to the Church in Philadelphia" (Rev. 3:7-13). ... And fulfillment of "The New Jerusalem" 💫 "The Spirit enveloped me, and the angel led me to the top of a very high mountain. He showed Me Jerusalem, the Holy City, coming down from heaven from God." (Rev. 3:7-13). ... " For the time has come in the house of God for the beginning of judgment in the house of God." (1 Peter 4:17). ... It is fulfilled that God Himself is our Pastor in (Rev. 7:17) 💐 "For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their PASTOR. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water; and God will wipe away the tears from their eyes" 📩 Calling and leading the sheep of God to His glorious Throne "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD"💐 to submit again to His authority so that He will continue to teach, guide and protect even in plague, famine and wild animals will not be moved by it and completely win this final battle with the big red dragon! "They say with a loud voice, "Salvation comes from the Lamb, and from our God who sits on the Throne!" (Rev. 7:10). ... and it will be fulfilled that will be established above the sky/KZfaq in (Isaiah 2: 2 / 9:6) "On the Last Day, the mountain on which Jehovah's temple stands will stand out above all the mountains. All nations will flock there. " . . . "For a baby boy is born to us. The rule will be given to him; and he shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." 📩

As a Brazilian, the lore says that piranhas only attack if you are wounded or on the flooding season, most probably, both. About Roosevelt story, what he witnessed was a practice called “the piranha bull”, and this was legit! During the late 19th century until 1970’s the most widespread economic activity in the deep Brazil was cattle raising. The roads were nonexistent and the cattle was drived Texan Style through the wilderness, usually until the nearest fluvial harbor. Those small harbors usually could only operate during the wet season, just when the piranhas are more aggressive. And there was a lot of shallow lakes and rivers to pass by, specially in the great wetlands. Ticks were widespread, generating small wounds that could maybe trigger a piranha attack. If this happened to a large number of cows, of course none would die immediately, but could make a cattle stampede and the cowboys would need to gather them again, certainly with significant losses and a big delay. The piranhas bites would also attract even more flies, that could infest those wounds with maggots with also significant economic loss and delay, since the sick cattle would be much slower. The solution: when crossing a known piranha insfested water, the cowboys would choose the most old/sick bull or cow, open shallow cuts on its hide and “park” it in the middle of the water to be crossed, only then the main heard would safely cross. When possible, the piranha’s bull would be retrieved and killed on the other side of the river, where the cowboys would certainly camp for the night and feast on the sacrificed bull. Fun fact: in those “cattle areas” of Brazil the expression “piranha’s bull” is used with a very similar meaning of the expression “scape goat”.

I did a voluntary year in Peru and on weekends we often went to a nearby lake for swimming that also had piranhas living in it. Over the course of a year we had it like two to three times that one of the fish would try snacking on someones toe. That would then cause a small wound but by all means wasn‘t enough to bite the toe off or anything. And it surely wasn‘t enough to keep us from swimming there.

South Brazilian here. You'll see local kids playing on the "piranha-infested waters". They swim better than you, can quickly figure out if there's something actually dangerous in the water (giant otter families scare off jaguars that can break open turtle shells), eat piranhas from time to time (part of local catch that people don't buy from fishers). We had a hanging mask made out of wood, seeds, fish scales and piranha mandibles. PS: you'll regret not tasting the local fruits. Raw, ice-creams, juices, whatever. Just try them.

The story I had read years ago was that when the area around the waters flood, the fish go with it. When the waters recede, the fish are stuck, and don't have access to food, and will aggressively attack what appears to be edible and enters that water.

Weren’t there attacks in Argentina some years ago in the Paraná river. I read at least 15 people were injured during that attack. It was also rare for the piranhas to be there. Usually the water is not their temperature so they stay higher up the river.

I used to have a tank [125 gallon] of 6. Once they got hand size nothing else I put in there would survive for long; Oscars, Jack Demspies, cat fish even crawfish. You could hear them hit the lid every now and then and they would rise to the surface whenever I opened it to put in the free Fish of the Month I'd pcik up when getting the gold fish/bay mice/whatver I decided to feed them that week.

Wonderful video, very informative! Quick question: what about leeches? The media and Entertainment industry portrays explorers wading through neck-deep jungle water, only for them to rip off their shirt and find a torso covered in leeches. Are leeches present in piranha territory?
@Filipe_Veras
@Filipe_Veras 8 ай бұрын
Hello there. Short answer: yes. Long answer: leeches exists all over the world (they are very old animals and had time to disperse). There are over 500 species, most of them in fresh water, but there are species that live in the mud and even salt water species. Swim away…

I used to work in a pet store many years ago. They had piranhas in a really cold fishtank. I stuck my hand in there to clean the glass from the inside with a scraper. They never touched me. They went to the other side of the tank and just looked at me.

I was bitten by a small piranha when I was reaching around in a seine full of fish (including larger piranha) that were taken on the Rio Nanay in Peru. Meanwhile, several young boys were swimming and splashing and carrying on at the opposite shore of this river full of piranha. I even identified 3 different species in this one seine haul alone.

Having read Teddy's book, a friend and I went to the Amazon, where we explored the river. We did two things that we thought of as 'scary' when we got there: A) swimming with Piranha, and B) wresting an Anaconda--something we had seen Marlin Perkins do on an episode of Wild Kingdom. When the boat captain pointed over the side at a school of red bellied Piranha. Scott (my friend) and I dove into the water--right into the center of the school. Neither of us had any doubt that these fish would not eat us, and we were correct. Later we saw a coiled up anaconda on the bank, but that is a different..

The main actor of the early 1960s TV western, “Rawhide”, was Eric Fleming. His death in the mid ‘60s occurred in South America, where he was involved in a film in production. Conflicting accounts of how he was killed range from a tragic drowning, to being eaten by piranhas. I’m not sure.
