RODEBLUR: It could if the forward compatibility was added with an expensive accesory a considerable amount of years after. For example, a Wii U that could play Switch games, but the accesory is out 10 years after it died.

1:10 I'm concerned on holding the label side to stop the disc from spinning because PS1 games are CD based which the data is on the label side and if frequently touch the protective layer eventually wears down and destroys the aluminum which damage the disc. It's much better to open the lid while the PS1 is running to allow the electronic brake to stop the disc from spinning. Unlike PS2 games which most games are DVD (except blue disc which are CD) which the data is sandwitched between plastic and not as vulnerable to damage.

I think that what was going on internally was one of a few things: *The later Play Station versions had a different code, causing the Play Station 1 to become confused and not recognize it as a playable game *Later Play Station games required more RAM due to improved hardware and so the Play Station 1 realized this and wouldn't load it as a playable game *Both of the above

It’s because the PS1 has a CD format, while the PS2 has DvD, and later models have Blu-Ray. It didn’t realize the disc was there. Wii games had a different type of DvD technology but can only play Wii games, and for old models, GameCube games, and the Wii U had a different type of Blu-Ray technology but can only play Wii and Wii U games.
