Great advice. I think it's worth mentioning that, while this takes less effort, it can take a year or more of application to have the soil begin to recover or improve, depending on how bad it is.

Great to hear. Liquids by themselves are fine but you are right their are many snake oils on the market for huge money and some that are probably good, but you just don't know. I prefer to use the main ingredients and know what I am putting down. I recently made another video using liquids to protect grass from heat but you do it yourself and you only use core components so you know what's there. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y9qjmaZlq9Gyn4U.html

I have been working hard on a two-year-old backyard of grass and had soil tests done and Rutgers soil lab telling me which fertilizer and when to apply and it has come out great but we are subject to high heat in New Jersey and I want to use this secret recipe. the one question I have is I can mix this liquid formula and apply it containing humic acid but in this more recent video you have humic DG which is granular so should I put that down and then make my liquid mixture just sea kelp and superthrive and apply everything on the same day?

Great question, that recipe I showed is fantastic for boosting your soil, protecting plants from stress, particularly heat stress and also promoting health, all great stuff, so what's the difference here? Some people will have poor soil and they know it needs organics badly and if that is your *main* problem granular will put down a higher amount of humic acid specifically targeting soil with higher concentrations. You could certainly use more of the liquid product to get the same results but it's more cost effective to do granular once or twice a year for major soil improvement and use my heat protection formular throughout the summer for heat protection and soil improvements during that stressful time. Hope this helps.

Great video! How does this application method differ from your previous video regarding the benefits of the superthrive, liquid humic & kelp mixture?
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. This is really to boost the soil & soil structure and doesn't hurt of course, but can't help heat stress. The volume of humic is much greater than the liquid so it is able to provide more benefits but only for soil development. Shorter answer is that this one only targets soil but greater strength, the other is a fantastic soil booster with heat protection and growth stimulation and is intended to be used more often to combat primarily heat stress.

This is the first video, or any info for that matter that I've come across, that mentions how often to apply humic acid. I've already applied twice this year, may do it one more time as my lawn is new to it. And the bag of powdered humic acid that I have is going to last a ridiculously long time anyway. Thank you. I wish it was the only supplement but this helps the soil tremedously but does not replace fertilizer and other things like weed killer. Absolutely, not a problem, it doesn't negatively interact with those. It can go down anytime, it takes a while to work but the sooner the better for it to become part of the soil

My question. I have sandy soil, if I put down humic acid what can I expect?
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal 5 жыл бұрын
The soils that will benefit the greatest are those low in organic matter, such as clay or sandy soils. amzn.to/2FDzdVK will dramatically help build organics in your lawn which can help reduce water usage and many note that there lawn appears greener which is likely due to the ability for the plants to absorb fertilizers. It's really a miracle product for many of us that want to improve our soil which benefits the lawn.

That's correct. In fact this isn't just another humic acid it's the best one I ever used. Lots of products say they have it in there, this is the actual item, meaning it's not a diluted form. Like real orange juice, versus, contains some juice. amzn.to/2FDzdVK - Free shipping to you. No fuss

Silver Cymbal -thanks so much. I bought this house that stood alone for 11 years. The people who had it only came once. It was on the market for 3 years. I bought it three years ago. It was a mess. I've had it mowed, where it looks okay but now I am ready to do it my self to make it look really good. Starting in my backyard first. It's a very small yard so I have gotten some ideas. Thanks so much. You have given me inspiration.

1. Is this just as alternative as your 4 gallon secret recipe? 2. Is this more or less effective than the 4 gallon recipe 3. Is doing both considered overkill? Thanks always for great reviews
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal 5 жыл бұрын
The 4 gallon secret recipe is to be used during summer months mainly for heat protection but for soil development also. I usually put that down 1,2 or times per year depending how hot each month is. This video will give you highly concentrated humid acid which is ideal for developing poor, sandy or c lay soils and very focused on that and does not directly give heat protection. Each year I will apply the humid acid in this video once or twice and the heat formula monthly during the hottest months. So you can use them together with even better benefits. Hope this helps

Hi. Can I throw down fertilizer after. Its kate June right now
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal 5 жыл бұрын
You can fertilize any time provided that you have some water to support the growth. My advice for this time of year is to pick to lowest temp day of the week and fertilize early evening, water it in. This gives it overnight to setup and begin breaking down. I would also choose a moderate fertilizer, avoid turfbuilder with it's 36N (First number) get a 24- which is all that is needed for this time of year. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching,

@@bradfewell9845 You could do them together but I will usually do humid acid about a week before fertilizer which can help the uptake but it isn't critical to do it this way. It will build in the soil so just doing it at all will help the most.

The #1 reason why people struggle with an unhealthy lawn is because of improper mowing. Mowing too short, waiting too long to mow, doing both at the same time.

The label states how much to drop per acre. A lot of us are used to per 1000 square feet measurements. For $65 does this go a long way? How many pounds would you drop per 1000?
@SilverCymbal

Yes it can be a little confusing. You can use 3 amounts per their label, Low 1# per 1000sq ft / Med 2# per 1000sq ft and/ High 4# per 1000 sq ft.

If you are on a tight budget you don't have to give up on lawn care and want humid acid I would try to get at least one treatment (bag) per year that will still give you great benefits without getting too expensive.
