Thanks Weston! I just came across your channel and find it very enjoyable, and have, of course, now subscribed. I'm glad that you advocate a basic 3 meal plan, without any snacking, as do experts like Mr. Olympia's, Frank Zane and Lee Haney. A healthy life in diet and fitness has to incorporate some discipline, and snacking can easily lead you astray. Zane will rarely consume over 2000 calories on any given day. And I like to limit my carbs to 100 - 150 grams per day. Working out is still the best part of each day, even with having to fight to keep my weight up to be 180 lbs. at 5'10", and 15% bodyfat at 64 years of age(always been natural, except for Craft Beer)(lol!), along with 5 kms/45 minutes of walking each day. If it helps anyone out there, here is the routine that I've kept for years: Day 1) Chest/Shoulders/Triceps Day 2) Back/Biceps Day 3)Legs/Calves/Abs, with no Off/Rest Day because I enjoy training so much. It has proven the most effective and enjoyable, with basically separating a lot of the pushing vs pulling movements. I used to have a lot of free weights, but now I train solely on a great Inspire Fitness M2 Home Gym, probably the best out there. It runs around $2500 and is worth every cent. The 210 lbs. stack is fine and good enough to stimulate and not annihilate the muscles, not just for the upper body, but even the quads, hams, glutes, and calves, utilizing Lower Cable Squats in different variations, Cable Romanian Deadlifts, Leg Extensions, Seated Leg Curls, and Cable Calf Raises using a Calf Raise Step. Wonderful cable attachments of every kind at my local and go to store, Fitness Depot. If I want to go heavier I can always attach a weight vest, or even sling some 20lb. weight leg strap ons on my shoulders. Gyms are great for inspiration, but sometimes you get tired of guys audibly grunting or breathing too heavy like they think that they're Ronnie Coleman, or my personal pet peeve, guys next to you chewing gum, with that terrible stale spearmint smell. My diet has also stayed the same for years. Upon rising at 3:30am, I have a big bowl of beef and chicken bone broth, and some gelatin for amino acids. Some soda water with 2 drops of Oil of Oregano and Peppermint Essential Oil. Vitamins, including a Multi Vitamin, Odorless Garlic, B Complex, Calcium/Magnesium, Cinnamon Pills, Omega 3-6-9. and Echinacea. Water with a 1/2 tsp. of Spinach Leaf Extract(and some MIO to add to the taste). Then a strong cup of coffee with some 2% milk. Let it settle in for 1/2 hour - 1 hour, catch up on the latest sports and news and business. Then train for 1 hour. Breakfast - 2 eggs, either boiled, or lightly fried in olive oil, 1 microwaved red potato, and 1/2 tomato. Lunch - A huge bowl of homemade Tomato Vegetable Soup with either Extra Lean Ground Beef, Steak, Chicken, or Turkey. Low on the sodium. Dinner - Either Steak, Chicken, or Turkey with a large salad. Bedtime Snack - Either some Cottage Cheese or a tbsp of All Natural Peanut Butter Proper amount of protein(not too much), good fats, low carbs(100 - 150 grams) complex carbs from red or sweet potatoes(nothing processed like bread/wheat/oats), and lots of vegetables for nutrition and fibre. And no fruits. They're just Mother Nature's candy. I avoid wheat, breads, rice, or anything processed. Do I ever eat junk food? Really, the answer is no. I don't enjoy the taste anymore, whether it's McDonalds, or chips, or donuts, and for 5 minutes of pleasure, the guilt, if you'd like to say, afterwards, is not worth it. My junk, or cheat, is to go to a really nice restaurant, like The Keg, and have someone else cook me a nice Filet Mignon or NY Striploin, and a dry baked potato, and veggies. I know I can do it better at home, but I enjoy dressing to the nines and going out.(lol!) But yes, quality Craft Beer. My only vice. A really good IPA!(Hey, you only live once!)(lol!) Go to bed @ 8:30pm(nothing good happens after 9:00pm), get up at 3:30am, and repeat. Cheers! JC And, P.S. I also sport a beard, much in the fashion of Jonathan Frakes(Wil Ryker from Star Trek: The Next Generation). And, like you, I also use Just For Men.("Vanity. My favorite sin.")(Al Pacino, from the movie, "The Devil's Advocate".)

Jonathan Smith hey man if I’m 225, 6’1.5”, need to get back down to the 180s or 190s, you think the diet you follow would be good for me and training free weights during the week? There is so much knowledge on what folks eat...but not much on the water they drink. Making sure the water is uncontaminated by filtering it and making sure you balance the ph...like Cannabis plants is very important ...how do I balance my ph in my water...with limes. I also use celtic salt to get the most out of nature. Once your hydration is on point...everything else falls in place. Especially if you are taking a bunch of supplements...the liver is working hard to get all of that process. Overall good video on nutrition.

I don't know where you find the time to prepare 5 meals a day at home. This wouldn't work for a busy professional who spends little time at home Monday to Friday. Any tips on how meals can be prepared for busy professionals and blue collar workers who just don't have time to cook up meals like this all the time? Could I also ask about your skin care routines and if you use anti-aging cosmetics like botox? Your skin looks amazing. This is how Middle aged men should look.

Ya, this works great for those of us in the real world that aren't able to stay home and "train" all day and perfect every meal. You didn't check whether any of these sauces or especially the golden grahams contain any crap like high fructose corn syrup. It's not enough just to look the 'carbs'. Not all carbs are made the same. Sugar (sucrose) has a GI of 60 whereas HFCS has a GI of 87...and some added sugars even 100. Look out of those.

HI man, do you use creatine?, im aafriad of using it because i heard things about hairloss
@WestonBoucher
@WestonBoucher 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I cycle my creatine intake but only because I have to look really defined and less muscular for modeling work. Otherwise I'd be on it all year. This particular creatine has been OUTSTANDING for results. They are NOT all created equal... www.amazon.com/shop/westonboucher?listId=P73QH1SD4XHV As far as hair loss, etc...I’m not concerned at all, honestly. I have yet to find any conclusive scientific data that proves this. Happy to read something if you have it from an accredited and unbiased source though! :)

for someone trying to look as young as possible, this diet is pretty inflammatory, and inflammation leads to premature aging. it's one of those things that will catch up with you pretty fast. also, are you really only eating 2200 calories a day?

@@WestonBoucher most people, even those of northern european stock, lack the enzyme to digest lactose, and it's only once eliminated from, and then reintroduced to, their diets that they actually realize they were ever symptomatic. but even if you aren't intolerant, lactose is still a simple sugar that the body will break down into glucose, creating an immediate insulinogenic effect. so lactose is never a great idea when limiting inflammation. but the real concern with dairy is not with the carbs but the protein, specifically A1 casein, which is inflammatory. there are cheeses very low in lactose and lacking in A1 casein, but the cheese on that pizza isn't one of them. and i'm pretty sure the crust used contains some enriched flour, which, like that cereal, is highly inflammatory. if you're going to eat that stuff, you probably should have it either right before or right after your workout, so all that glycogen is being used or stored in the muscle instead of being converted into fat. and you should probably have it the morning, when your metabolism is much higher than it is at night. and as metabolism goes, yours seems unusually slow. we're of similar age and size, and probably spend a similar amount of time in the gym, and i need about 3600 calories for maintenance. if your metabolism is that slow, and you're eating sugar at night, chances are that's going straight to the love handles. for some people some lecithins, like gluten, can be a problem, but the beneficial hormetic effect from most lecithins and phytates outweigh the inflammatory damage. so if i was looking for some end of the day carbs, i'd stick to low glycemic ones, especially if there was little fat and fibre to blunt the glycemic load. and if i only needed 2200 calories for maintenance, i'd eat it all in one meal or break it up in to two meals over maybe four or five hours, and reap the benefits of a prolonged daily fast, which will result in less inflammation and even more youthful looking skin. your diet is great for someone in their twenties, but pushing forty is when you have to be near perfect with your diet if you want to look as young as possible. eta - also, protein has an inflammatory glycolytic effect and also activates the mTOR pathway, which basically speeds up the aging process. and since essentially no one needs more than 0.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight to either build or maintain muscle, you should probably figure out the absolute least amount of protein you yourself need to maintain muscle, and just substitute the missing calories with olive oil. or maybe even some more saturated fat, which your body needs to make testosterone. and a guy pushing forty is probably already producing a lot less testosterone than they once were. but hey, you look incredible, so the fuck do i know.
