For barely 3 weeks pp, you are _slingshotting_ back! Breastfeeding turned me into a calorie-burning furnace. I was ravenous and ate like a male teenage linebacker for the first year of my kids’ lives, and still dropped 15lbs beyond my pre-baby weight. No doubt some of that was muscle 😬😕 I know for some women, breastfeeding has the opposite effect - I guess you never know which one you’ll be until you’re in it. But looks like you guys are killing it 🖤 snuggle that nugg and enjoy these early days!

I’m sure you know this but I would be careful leaving a newborn unattended and covered while sleeping in a careseat. Their neck muscles relax greatly while they sleep upright in a careseat which can occlude their airway (increased risk of SIDS) - I work in the NICU and this is part of our car seat education! You’re doing amazing.

@@Megsquats Car seat time in the car should be limited to two hours for a baby that small. Most people would say just keep destinations short in duration if possible. I treat the car seat rule like I would a lounger or a swing. Ok as long as she is being supervised. My eyes are usually glued to my daughter anyway lol

It’s also because the incline of the seat is different when it’s installed safely compared to when it’s just resting on the ground. Beautiful family ❤️❤️

@@Megsquats also just generally don't leave a newborn alone to sleep. Not many people know this but babies actually regulate their breathing from you as that's how they breathed in the womb, it's the reason there is a 6 month minimum to have them in a room with you. Not wanting to worry anyone but something to definitely think about.

I'm so sorry you felt like there were only negative stories out there! I will say if I could drill anything into potential mom's it's that every experience is different. Now 5+ years post baby 3 I've had 3 different experiences. Baby 1 arrived at 35 weeks via emergency C-section due to breech presentation so birth was traumatic but the baby was the EASIEST baby to grace this earth, quiet and even tempered and eased us into parenthood seamlessly like we never even had a kid *almost obviously we now had a human we were responsible for. Second baby arrived via drug free vbac at full term, completely healthy in a way we didn't realize babies could be based on baby 1 and she was what we very diplomatically call "challenging" she never really slept through the night until at least 1.5 year old, she resisted everything, it felt like a huge mistake to add a baby when we were 4 weeks out. I suffered relatively mild but still very hard ppd with her that I never had with her sister. Luckily we've come around to her spirited self but uffda those early days, it was like having a first baby but with the bonus of a toddler mixed in. Baby 3 arrived a day before his scheduled C-section because yay another breech baby, he's been a very medium between his sisters, he napped unlike #2 but also still 5 years later more often than not joins us around 2 - 4 AM, but he's an easy going kiddo who goes with the flow and I avoided ppd in part thanks to a summer birth (vs. mid winter in Wyoming with the first two) and more importantly, help for the first 10 days via my (16 year old) niece staying with us and helping get the girls and baby settled. So I think we need all content since all experiences are different ❤️

I am so proud you're breastfeeding! My mom is a lactation consultant and is just a huge advocate for breastfeeding, do it as long as you can! Don't give up! Also if you ever experience maybe breastfeeding swelling or your milk won't come out, put cabbage leaves on your breasts and she does like a steam bath + hot compresses if you begin getting engorged! Idk how it works but it does! My cousin called her for help and boom milk all over!!

I remember eating biscuits during the all through the night feeds and feeling disgusted at myself .. but why, breast feeding and being a new mother is exhausting I think I was craving sugar for energy. Was 149 and very fit pre pregnancy. Stopped working out completely during my pregnancy due to exhaustion from working 7am to 5pm five days a week and gained 40lbs. Was 189 the day I gave birth and was 170 the day after. Now 6 weeks postpartum I am 163 and let me tell you my body image has been the biggest postpartum struggle yet. My body feels completely foreign to me. I’m nursing too but idk how you manage to fit all that food in one day! Since I wake up so often to feed her I don’t eat much because I literally sleep when she sleeps! I’ll usually only be able to manage lunch and dinner.

You don't necessarily lose weight while breastfeeding as the hormones leptin and ghrelin get out of wake due to sleepless nights. As an athlete and mother of four, breastfeeding didn't have me losing weight bc of BF, but bc I ate in maintenance and lifted five days per week. Once I got my sleep patterns back 6 hours plus straight sleep, my baby slept for longer the body fat shifted quickly. Breastfeeding will assist the uterus to contract back to its original size faster than if you weren't breastfeeding.. But the weight loss is not valid just because of breastfeeding, especially if you are the type who considers body composition.

It's really difficult for pregnant and breastfeeding women to get enough choline without whole eggs. Dairy helps a lot with calcium and iodine. Bacon has a lot of monounsaturated fats. It seems like it's not the biggest deal for this season of her life regardless though.

@@aab24209 Bacon is a highly processed red meat which is linked to cancer. A few eggs, that's fine, but again even with 3 whole eggs you're talking about like 6grams of sat fats... there are FAR better sources of essential fats (saturated fat is not essential) than what is happening here.
