Same as things on my 21 trd pro. I love the truck. I do run mine with the Ect power button on all the time. Seems to help a lot with the shifting issues and keeps it from falling on its face in 6th. Overall I’m with you I love the thing.

@@FRS2K no I haven’t noticed. Best I can get so far is 17.9mpg my 97 3.4L 4Runner got 19.5 consistently. I’ve noticed that the mpg isn’t really consistent. But it is a different truck for sure running the Ect power button on all the time. Some say it’s just for tow but I always have it on. Its funny when I forget to turn it on I notice right away. Softer shifts and shorter duration. With it on it holds the shifts longer and gives a little firmer shifting pattern. Try it you will notice a difference. Hope this helps.

Excellent review, these are the same problems I have experienced with the TACO and these are what keep me from getting one. The seating position, getting in and out are another problem I have. I hate the sitting position. It is like Toyota cuts every corner they can. There are just way too many issues/problems with the Tacoma that Toyota could have addressed a long time ago. It's just got too many issues for the kind of money they are asking..

That’s why I have not and will not budge for a 3rd gen, I’m waiting for the 4th gen to hopefully see some of those improvements you pointed out. Don’t get me wrong I love Tacomas, and I know a lot of people say the reliability and resell value makes up for it outdated tech and other mechanical issues, but when you’re dropping 50k on a brand new mid size truck(which in itself is a ridiculous price) in 2023 you should expect a whole lot of better equipped standard features.
@FRS2K

Completely agree. The 3rd gen was a big step up from our 2nd gen but it was more so in styling than features. I’m excited to see what they do with the interior, powertrain, and tech in the 4th gen. I agree with everything you stated except for the transmission. Just moved up from a 2017 TRD Sport to a 2023 TRD Pro and will say the transmission doesn’t hunt nearly as much and the Pro suspension is worlds better. I will say the camera on the 17 was also better and that even sucked. One last thing you forgot is why the hell couldn’t they include an adjustable front seat for the passenger as well? Even with all these minor complaints I still love my new truck as well as the 17 Sport. I wanted to upgrade to the 23 so I could carry all my aftermarket parts over to the new truck just in case they don’t fit the new body style next year.

@@FRS2K I will say one thing I just found out this morning. My 17 had the Falken Wildpeak AT3 Tires with the 4 Runner 17 inch wheels and that set up blows away the stock set up on the 2023 Pro wheels/Tires in the wet slushy snow. Thinking about putting them back on next winter. Glad I kept them. I just have to put new TPMS in them and they will be good to go.

I don’t understand how the cameras are so bad but I do love that there is a 360 cam on the roof. I would add that when you have the 360 view, it darkens part of the camera view which is annoying. What I was told to do was go to a different place were they install car starters and get one put on from them then it will stay running until you push the button and you don't have to pay a 10-dollar month fee to use it absolutely ridiculous😅

What I dislike about my TRD Pro: - The front locker won’t engage. - The rear locker won’t engage in 2HI or 4HI like an off road truck should. - The 4 wheel disc brakes don’t have enough bite. - The 1200+ lb payload makes for a rough ride. - The fully boxed frame is too rigid.

@@FRS2K 2014 Raptor is an electrical fking nightmare. Goes down the road like a trophy truck (I live in Baja) but unreliable AF. 10 miles of offroad to get to town. My 06 Taco was a better more reliable ride...and saved my life. I beams held with 8 rollovers-

I don't know of another brand 💥 that fans make as many excuses for incredibly outdated tech and cheap plastic at Toyota fan boys 🤣 Like, if there was a little better key fob, somehow it wouldn't be as reliable. All for more for 50k, boys.

Yess that’s what I’m saying!! and I’m a Tacoma fanboy myself, but even I can see the huge flaws this 50k midsize truck has and all the standard features it lacks compared to its competitors, like I’m looking at the new GM twins and saying damn they knocked it out of the park with those midsize trucks except the pricing. You can get more from a 50k GM colorado or canyon than in the Tacoma TRD Pro

Truth lol we have 2 Tacomas a GR86 and a Scion FRS. I’ll defend and make excuses till I die but I’ll also be the first one to complain about them too 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@EpticityOG as a GM/ASE Master mechanic/tech, no. I own a 23 TRD off road 4x4 and I bought it and am currently modding it to my liking it instead of anything GM, Ford or Chrysler makes. GM's are money makers for us mechanics since they have such crappy reliability and drivetrains. Don't even get me started on all the electrical issues. I hope you never have any issues once your warranty expires, because honestly, you will and it will cost you an arm and a leg. Better just trade that truck in and get something new again. There is a reason why I'm a GM tech but own Toyota(s), oh, and a Honda. Lmao!

@@EpticityOG cool story bro, but the reply I made was in case you do end up going for a GM or other truck. They're just not built to last these days.

I have a 2023 TRD pro i have a list but one thing I hope toyota changes for 2024 is that the tailgate should lock and unlock with fob and dock lock button ..are they really that stupid dah people steal tailgates duh

Yeah it takes someone 30 seconds to take it. I’m glad not more people think of stealing them but a locking tailgate from the factory would be super convenient.

My 2023 Pro has the bed lock linked with the doors so you just use the key fob to lock and unlock the tailgate.
