Interesting, I have a 3 bedroom apartment in 1004 on the island, also I am a landlord in Uk with 10 rental properties, 4 Airbnb properties, I tried to rent out my apartment in 1004 on short let when I am not in Nigeria, and what you said here is so true, especially the market here is 90% used by the younger guys. And they do everything that an Airbnb forbids, smoking, loud music, parties, not following check out rules, inviting friends over, I tried hosting them once , and they sick all over my duvet covers. Since then I pulled out of the local market. My property is still on Airbnb for older guests and people who will follow the rules. No more local guys for me. Not worth the hassle.

Good morning sir, my name is Ifeanyi, I'm the brand manager for Escapade. Escapade is a Nigerian company that hosts and manage shortlets. We are actually a competitor with Airbnb. Sir can we come over to your apartment for a professional photo and video shoot, that we'll use for publicity purposes on our platform.

Great info thanks. I think it is very important that short let property owners get together and share experiences as well as start to foster a culture of bèst practise standards. We can either allow the low standards of such guests to spoil our rules, for the sake of making money, most of which you spend on the aftermath, or we start to enforce rules. If agents and clients aren't following our rules, simple they get blacklisted and the info is shared amongst the group. By enforcing the rules, we will land on the right clientele, if we give in, they will destroy our businesses.

Because,when you rent to the local people- Local people mainly will rent for parties or entertainment purposes.Yes , they need to clean every 2days, so you can be in control of what is going on in your building.

Nice insight, and i believe this is how diasporas relocated back can share there experiences to encourage others think about home coming and colobrates with each other to enhance our thinking as our government has failed to provide confidence into their Citizens. And even some people will not divulged such informations u are giving freely, blessings comes from giving so keep it up. Thanks.

Thank you for this educational video yet again Bayo. This is a topic of interest to me, and you have helped in answering many questions that I have mulled in my mind for a long time now. Can you do a video about how to enlist my property on Airbnb, their requirements, etc. Your way of sharing information using live experience and explaining things through and through really makes for easy understanding. God bless you bro. Adewale Obadina, Ireland

I have seen this in nigeria. My old place, next door was an Airbnb. Pretty big, 3 floors, 4 bedrooms, so we would see a lot of locals rent it, mostly groups of men would rent it & entertain prostitutes for the weekend. This happened at least twice per month. There was trash everywhere, spilling to the outside so I can only imagine what the inside looked like. Was always so noisy, loud music and loud talking. Renting to locals is probably more challenging.

more challening for sure but one now has to do proper screening

20:10 Nice content. As a feedback: Is it possible diasporans learn and *adopt* a thing or two from the local clientele in terms of being more forgiving, considering this is a desirable attribute?
@thenigeriannomad4 ай бұрын
Thank you and I think its possible but very unlikely because it would require lowering of standards and expectations
@beebee_01364 ай бұрын
@@thenigeriannomad 1.) Sir, is this actually a lowering of standards or an adjustment of their expectations to the present realities of the economy and what's obtainable? Remember, it seems you also admitted that this was to your benefit, right? (Cont'd...)
@beebee_01364 ай бұрын
@@thenigeriannomad 2.) this requires an attitudinal disposition and lowering of one's expectations is quite in order, pending a gradual change to the power architecture of the Nation, don't you think? After all, like they say: "... _if you are in Rome, do like the Romans_ " lo!
