My first semester of Textile School has gone by so fast! I've had a lot of fun in my sewing, weaving and machine knitting classes and I wanted to share this fun with you! In this video, I go over the different projects I did during the second half of my first semester.
My textile learning journey is made possible thanks to the "Technique des métiers d'art en construction textile" given by the "Cégep de Limoilou" and the "Maison des métiers d'art de Québec". In case you are curious, here's the website of the program: www.cegeplimoilou.ca/formatio...

Well done on all your work! In Australia we call the neck thingy a cowl. BTW, I was convinced I wouldn’t enjoy art history but landed up loving it. It will change the way you think about design, composition and colour. It is fantastically interesting. Have fun with the next bit. ❤ Happy New Year. I look forward to the next upload.

I noticed something. Literally no one on youtube ever discusses how to manually make fabrics that use fine threads like the ones used in t-shirts. I want to truly make my own t-shirt fabric myself. How do I weave/knit the fabric myself, just like one of those huge commercial machines? Any help to solve this would help me so much. Thank you!

I have never attempted to do anything like that, so I don't think that I would be the best person to help you on this journey. I'm sorry! I wish you good luck with your research

Your video is very inspiring, I have a question for you, I am thinking of buying a table loom. What brand do you recommend?
@Curly_n_Yarny
@Curly_n_Yarny Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 This is a very hard question for me to answer! In terms of table looms, I only had the chance to weave on looms made by the company Leclerc. I like them, but I don't really know how they compare to other brands. Good luck in your search and I wish you lot's of fun in your upcoming weaving journey 😁

@@Curly_n_Yarny Thank you, I was thinking in Voyageur 15¾" with Dorothy table bag, Do you think it is a good option to start? (:
@Curly_n_Yarny
@Curly_n_Yarny Жыл бұрын
A voyageur loom could be a good option! In terms of the width, it's important to consider what kind of projects you will will want to weave and what width those projects will require. You mentioned the Dorothy table bag I'm not sure what it is. Do you mean a table to put the loom on? Also, I have just made a video in which I mention my experiences with Leclerc table looms. I think that you might find the last bit of the video interesting. Here's the link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbmclsl707Ksgmw.html

I call it a neck warmer but sometimes it's called a gaiter or neck gaiter to differentiate it from boot gaiters, lol. Cowl, more of a British term I think. Your dad looks proud and warm. Sorry about your headless dinosaur. You should turn him into a pouch. Lovely dress, congrats on garment making. Did you get good marks in your class? Would that alpaca be easy to work with on a rigid heddle loom?
@Curly_n_Yarny
@Curly_n_Yarny Жыл бұрын
Oh thank you!! I have never heard the term "gaiter" (except maybe for the animal 🐊) I'll add it to my vocabulary 😁 I'm very happy with my grades 👩🏽‍🏫 Although it doesn't matter so much now. I'm mostly there for the learnings! I'm pretty confident this alpaca yarn would be good for weaving 😊 Weaving is the reason I bought it in the first place 😂 I still have some some balls of other colors left. I will try them on my RHL...one day!
