Maku - I divorced and didn’t see my son for 7 years. His mother kept making false police reports against me and I decided to avoid that whole situation. It broke my heart not having him in my life. His mother wanted our son only for herself and she wanted him to hate me. When he turned 18 he came to live with me. He got to see who I am for himself and experience how much I love him and like him for the person he is. I hope you can heal the pain your dad caused you because you deserve happiness whether you get that affirmation from your dad or not. At some point, you have to be your own best friend regardless of what your parents do or think about you.

Everything Steve and his son said was exactly what happened to me. Didn’t speak to my dad for a total of 10 years. For what reason? I don’t know. But my brothers and I made a decision to reach out to him. I remember talking to him for about 3 hours and the whole time we were both just crying. My eyes were bloodshot red. My mother felt a way about it but I didn’t really care that much. Long story short, my dad and I are closer than we could ever be. Even my mother, who once hated him asks about him and tells me to buy him gifts on his birthday and on Father’s Day. A relationship with your father is soooo important. Reach out to your dads, people especially if he wants to be in your life. It’s NEVER too late.

We need stuff like this on the media💖.i had issues with xpartner,I made my mistakes. But one mistake I never made was leave a part of me abandoned, my child,an innocent soul! I suffered so much dat I almost gave up,BUT I had work extra hours to make money to pay for court fees. Finally I went to court and now I have him at mine. I dont want him to growup with HATE. No child should be left abandoned by any parent.. 99percent of wat the society is, depends on fathers.. the challenging part is,my son sees his mum and she feeds him with alsorts of negativity about mee. I know when he growsup,he will understand better.

He/she will grow up more whole & balanced & you will be blessed! I encourage you as a child who felt abandoned by her father before she was even born. He was never ever present & I spent more than 50 years wanting things to be different and it's taken me decades to work through the wounds to be successful. Things are just beginning to change with my father now. I'm thankful!

as a man i struggle with accepting the excuses we continually make for men. moms dont have the luxury of going out to find themselves and coming back yrs later. yes, we absolutely need to hear both sides but if fathers weren't frequently absent, no one would have the opportunity to fill in the narrative for them. we need to honor men and fathers, and we also have to stop expecting so little from us.
@SpecialKRNB

But you gotta understand that there are some women that would sabotage the father-son relationship before it even begins... let's be real... my ex's mom was one of them... hints my ex was a straight up mama's boy not my place today to speak on behalf of men that truly did have a hard time forming a bond with their father and their own father pushed them away but there are mothers who would do that and I saw that first-hand I mean aside from me and my ex ever working out to begin with..he made his mama top priority over everything including the barrier between him and his dad.. so glad I don't have to deal with the intricacies of his relationship with me and others but that was my experience and that's where the majority of men start out as mama's boys...

What about the mother who had to sacrifice everything for the child as the father left. It affects both parent and child. The child could go forgive their dad and he acts like everything is fine. While the mother has to stay in the shadows? And be happy for them both. But also what about her time? Her selfcare? Her feelings?
@raquelsolis9824
@raquelsolis9824 3 жыл бұрын
As a single mother of 2 young boy, I would never choose my feelings over my child's feelings. Every real parent makes sacrifices to see their child happy, content, and successful. My boys can know their father whenever and come up with their own opinions about him. If you raise a child right they will never just leave you in the dust and they would be grateful for everything you have done and sacrificed. This guy was raised right being concerned about his mothers feelings or any women's feelings for that matter.

I met my father for the first time 2 years, when I was 19. My whole entire family was against me seeing him, because of the toxic, abusive relationship my mother had with him. My mother put some messed things in my head, and even though those things are true, I was unusually happy to see him, I've met my cousins, aunt, and my grandfather. Out of all my siblings, I've never been with, or heard my father physically. The only sad part is that I don't know where he is now, because I live in another state. He might be in prison, or dead. My mother doesn't know, no one knows. Even though he was never in my life, He's the reason why I want to get married and have 4 kids.

My son at the age of 7yrs old he asked me if he could live with his dad, did that hurt, did I cry, did I feel what have I done wrong the answer is YES but I couldn't hold him back and Heavenly Father knows I wanted to. His father and I had a good divorced and we are still friends 48yrs later but it still hurt to lose my son but I knew he needed his father. After my son grew up I found out the reason he wanted to live with his father. My son told me that, at the age of 7, he needed to take care of his father because his father needed him to take care of him. I asked "what about me" he said, " Mom you are strong and I knew you could take care of yourself". I am so glad I let him live with his dad because my son & I are very close, I did not lose him but he grew up as a great man and his dad was so glad he had his son with him. More of us adults need to realize we might be divorcing but we are not divorcing our children. What our children need is to come first no matter what the reason for the divorce.

Mom's are wrong if they try to interfere with their sons trying to have a relationship with their father. Can't worry about what mom thinks. Steve and his son are right.

I know I am so late with catching up with Steve, but I am here. I am so glad I saw this one. I am a childless woman who was raised without a father or dad only because mines were killed when I was a tot. But I have grown up with a host of girls who had children with absentee guys that fathered them. As those children grew up most wanted to spend time with their fathers but the mothers stood in the middle of their relationships. Over the years there have been fathers who changed, wanting the relationships with their kids, and those mothers just wouldn’t let up. I find the main reason is that their (mother & father) relationship never manifests. Being resentful and damaging. But the women don’t understand how damaging they were to the child. They have a million excuses on why they did what they did, but all those excuses were from being selfish. Where I come in, when those women would talk about the fathers and how they’re not going to let them see their child, I would say think about what you're doing to the child. They would say I don’t know what I am talking about because I don’t have children, then I would say I am a child that didn’t have a father and I understand the importance of having one. No matter what your relationship with that father is, that child’s relationship is different; they are part of that man. But they all held that relationships as hostages. Now, that I am in my fifty and seeing those children as adults, most if not all don’t have good relationships with their families or others.

some folks stay mad stuck in these narratives because of a programming about them being messed up or deficient bc of a parents divorce. sometimes your parents dividing is the best thing. we have to try to stop feeling bad behind parental shames and thinking. the automatic take of gloom and doom is so damaging to the psyche. And its unnecessary. We get focused on these picket fence aspirations and expectations, then we get stuck when the candy drops in the dirt. SHAKE IT OFF. You are a divine human being, your parents were the tunnel, you must have the courage to exit their darkness and SHINE CAUSE GOD GOT YOU!!!! I was thrilled when my parents divorced, it was the best decision for everyone. Parents keep your kids out of your business. Kids, listen, your parents are that by default. they are IMPERFECT biological donors. See them as human, not these idolized notions. Make the shift, let go of the pain. Live ya life.

I'll never forgive my father, he left when I was 3y, married the best friend of my mother and she didnt want my brother and me. My dad's a big man but he is scared of my stepmother, I will never, never!! speak to them because of the way SHE threated us and the way HE was afraid of her. I have 2 boys now, 5y and 7 months old, I would never leave them like he did. Not every son wants his father in his life, i grew up without him and doing pretty good!

Mr. DJDaveC1988, Man, I can't even imagine how horrible that makes you feel from the pain of losing your Dad to betrayal as a child. I understand you being unable to forgive him for it. God understands too. His Son Jesus was a Gift given to save the world and they crucified Him. Even though we didn't deserve forgiveness for our sins. God loved us still while we were ratchet wretches-Amazing Grace. Jesus/God never stopped loving us and took the punishment, dying innocently to rise again.. That's why forgiveness is Divine; God doesn't expect you to be able to forgive. Only by accepting the Truth of Jesus are we able to forgive by the Power of God's Love. When you understand how and why you were forgiven, you'll be like, ok God help me do it about Dad, like you did for me. It's the only way "never" after what he did becomes "even" after what he did i forgive him. Jesus came to set you free and be able to love and forgive your Dad, from the hurt and pain he caused you, the way He forgives. The forgiveness you give your Dad will be what God gives you to set you free from all the hurt and pain that bounds you like a chain. I pray you choose to be free. God bless you+

Man, this was deeeeep! I love conversations like this though, it brings out the truth of how people are truly feeling! We often internalise our feelings , letting it overcome us when simply speaking about how we feel, puts us in control! 🙏💆‍♀️

Seeing the love and support some of these brothers getting from their fathers after missing for years is really overwhelming and amazing because I’ve been living with my father almost for 20 and I’ve never had that kind of support and love. My father never believed me in me and never supported me in anything and it’s really heartbroken n sad living with the one that supposed to be your #1 fan, mentor, role model, teacher, never look up to u or give you the love and support you deserve. But I’m proud because I’ve never disrespect or disobeyed him and mother has always encouraged me to be humble and respectful towards him because at the of the day he’s my father and he will always be. To anyone out there who got a loving and caring parents please don’t take them for granted, do whatever it takes to make them happy because they won’t be there forever #peace ❤️🇬🇳

And that is my issue right there you said it correctly and I hate when men play that violin song I was young I didn't know what I was supposed to do I have no father I didn't know how to be a father to my son yeah yeah yeah yeah I don't want to hear all of that you are correct the mother was young as well as the man but the crazy thing is they fail to realize the mother had to carry that baby that mother had to go through Labor and push that baby out that mother had to stay up all times of night when a baby is sick my mother had to get up in the middle I feed the child the mother had to take the kids to school figure out Ray how she is going to work and provide at the same time have to find that babysitters child care but me and always want to holla I didn't have a father I don't know how to be a father but expect people to accept that I don't accept that because it's Mother's I heard that I'm not running away to find a self now you may have some women that put the babies on their parents and then walk away and Majora walk away because the man that walked away if me and was just step up who who keep leaving their children and just help you don't have to stay with the women but be there for your child and that's how I feel I'm tired of hearing that sang violin song I was young

Hey Y'all I think you all are looking at it the wrong way. He shouldn’t have left and yess they both were young. He was saying he was young and dumb and that he said “what am I doing making decisions at 25”. He’s not using it as an excuse. He admitted he ran from responsibility. But I notice a lot of women will say women mature faster than men until a child is involved.

Sounds like someone wasn't taught responsibly as a child growing up. So by age 25, responsibility was all about taking care of self and not the seeds they were leaving behind. #shameful but yeah....forgive and move on.
