At a certain point it'll just be about 1-shoting the enemy turn 1 as shown here though. There's not really a more optimal play than to take all of them.

@@junova7503 I mean the fact that he didn't finish the run makes me think that taking less could be more optimal. Although I certainly enjoyed the take as many as possible approach for a first try. It's perfectly possible though that is just some better RNG and taking everything is still optimal it's just a thought

@@ewanharvey9630 Taking less means playing a run with less relics which is almost always less optimal. If he were to only take a few he's not going to get any benefits from other relics and would still have the downsides of multi-hit enemies becoming completely overpowered. As such his best shot is to kill the multi-hit enemies before they can attack which is impossible for the heart which is why he needs apparitions or something like ghost in a bottle. If he does get apparitions then he's effectively on a turn count limit he must kill the enemy during and having more energy for X-cost cards helps and with X-cost cards there's never too much energy. Long story short there's no way to take more than a few of these relics and then try to play safe, you must go all-in on the damage and hope for intangibility or you're just gimping yourself.

@@junova7503 I understand in general less relics is bad but I was just hypothesising in this scenario where he's not getting any other relics anyway it could be interesting to get less. I think it would be an interesting challenge to balance less relics to try and see if he can handle the enemy scaling. I don't think mentioning other relics is really relevant given that this is a all relics are X challenge. But I deliberately understand that point in general. I agree probably apparitions are the best real chance. I just disagree that there's not a chance he could win the run (not necessarily kill the heart) without taking so many. But it's just a thought happy to disagree I do see where your coming from. Edit I reread your last sentence and yeah I think you get what I'm saying I think it would be interesting to get a few and try and play it safe. Might make it interesting to actively try and avoid relics which is not a normal way to play. I think we both understand each other

It wouldn't really be as effective as random runs cuz then you'd just be adjusting your strategy accordingly to the enemies since you already know what happens
