Makes you wonder what the perception of the sport would have been. The actual championship races of early 50s saw few serious accidents (for the era, anyway) while the Grandes Épreuves of late 40s were marred by several tragedies. People knew that racing was dangerous but surely that would have reflected negatively on the sport's popularity. Wimille was the highest-profile lost driver based on the post-war pre-F1 World Championship results and honestly it's a shame that his story is forgotten. Some of his fellow drivers and friends who were also a part of the French resistance weren't as lucky, they got caught and executed by the occupying German forces towards the end of the war. The narrative would also be different for a number of top teams and drivers of the 50s, Ferrari not being around from the first year in 1947 but already being established champions by 1949, Hawthorn no longer being the first British winner and so on. I've ran the very same simulation previously. It's nice to see another person getting the same idea and expanding the concept into a video that puts the results in context and doesn't just look at the stats.

You forgot that the Indy 500 would be probably part too. In total I think 4 or 5 races are too less for a championship. So I think 1950 with 6 + Indianapolis is a good start.

How about the 20's and 30's? And couldn't the races that were not national championships be included with a graduated point system?

It needs to be remembered as formula one but I'm glad it wasn't a world championship as they probably weren't ready for it to be yet and the races were only in Europe, so it wasn't a true world championship anyway.
