What if Vettel didn't make any mistakes in 2018?

the 2018 Formula 1 season has become infamous due to how Vettel and Ferrari lost the championship. Many at the time blamed Vettel for this loss so I thought it would be interesting to go through the 2018 season in a situation where Vettel doesn't make any mistakes.
As always this video is all just my opinion and should not be taken too seriously as it is impossible to predict what actually could have happened in this scenario.
The text to speech voice I use is the Microsoft Clipchamp voice Ryan and the editing software is OpenShot Video Editor.

So basically Vettel not having those errors in 2018 means the fight goes down to last race and not wrapped up in Mexico like it was in 2017, it have given the final 3 races a purpose of being on the calendar for sure, also the 2018 season would have been a lot better then the one we got for sure.

That's what I have been saying since 2018. People blamed Ferrari for not developing the car but that car was definetely good enough to win the championship. Vettel bottled it too many times while Hamilton pulled top class performance after top class performance. I am not saying that with swaped drivers Ferrari would have had a 100% chance of winning but that championship would have been VERY CLOSE for sure

it's why F1 is a team sport. A team can do everything right but if their driver isn't performing they won't get results and vice versa. 17/18 really did establish that Merc didn't need a car 20 seconds faster to win.

Vettel's driving in 2017 was on par with Hamilton's, but the car was slightly worse. In 2018 the cars were equal, but this time, Vettel got completely outclassed by Hamilton. The 2017 Vettel versus the 2017 Hamilton in their 2018 cars would have been great.

Oh yea for SURE! 2018 would’ve been a lot better had Vettel didn’t make any mistakes and so does Ferrari and not developing the car as fast as Mercedes. But I believe the reason behind the mistakes might be down to both driver error and pressure to deliver for Ferrari because as we know when you drive for Ferrari, you drive for *FERRARI* not for yourself. It’s not like any other team where pressure is there but not as much as Ferrari, they are the main factor of why most drivers fail at Ferrari, they just have too much pressure to succeed that they just crumble and Seb is a perfect example of making it to Ferrari and then failing for Ferrari. Edit: another factor is if Ferrari was run by the *I T A L I A N S*

A shame Vettel folded that year, the Ferrari that year was as fast if not faster than the Mercedes. Many say Hockenheim was the beginning of Sebs downfall but I think it was possibly the crash at Singapore the year prior. Max or Alonso would have took the title in the red car that year I reckon.

Ferrari had the quicker car in qualifying, but Merc had tbetter race pace. You can see that in the constructors points tally. Seb won a lot of poles tjat year, and Ferrari had 2 world champ drivers, but finished 2nd in the constructors. For sure Seb made some big, high profile mistakes, like deliberately bumping into Lewis after Lewis didn't brake check him. But he was also under huge pressure of expectation given his and the Car's edge in qualifying. The expression "race pace" wasn't even really used back then.

Hamilton himself said it best. Ferrari were not the best car that season, and definitely not from the second half of the season. That meant Vettel was compelled to take risks, which meant mistakes. Vettel could have been calmer instead of having his "do or die" attitude, bur if he was calmer, as we can see, he still woukd not have won the WC. As far as he was concerned, he had to finish ahead of Hamilton. Vettel was ine of the greats and anyone afraid to admit that is not a fan of the sport. He carried Ferrari, as Alonso did before him.

Vettel lost 2017 and 2018 because of the team. He is the only driver with wins over Hamilton in 5 seasons, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013. Alonso has won over him in 4 seasons and Max in 3.

I think there is false expectations as to the level of these two drivers. They were both hugely flattered by their material. Vettel didnt win a thing if not starting from the front row. He was good on over a single lap but lacked racing craft and consistency. Lewis clearly better skilled but even more lucky with a car that dominated an entire regulatory period and saw team mates get poles and wins from him, or Lewis was gifted wins ("Valtteri, it's James"). Had Alonso gone to Mercedes back then he would have been an 8 to 9 times world champion by now (depending on whether he could keep Rosberg at bay) and Lewis would have a single. So, certainly not mediocre drivers but their number of titles create false expectations as to their actual level.

Who are these drivers? Nobodies compared to the great Kimi Raikkonen. The greatest natural talent of all time who nearly won 2003 in an 18-month old car. The real sin Ferrari committed was not backing Kimi in 2018. Kimi could easily have won that title without the 4 DNFs he had (none of which were his fault. Raikkonen showed at 40 that season, he was better than a ~30 year old Vettel.

I'm probably baiased but you said few things i didnt even know like vettel damage in hockenheim. F1 is a team sport and as much as i want to put blame on Ferrari ruining my favourite driver i also realise his mistakes. But i think some errors are gonna happen in such tight championship and lewis also made few mistakes before Italy. But after Italy the whole Spinbastian stuff happend. Its sad and i AGREE its his mistakes but i still put the majority blame for failure of this campaign on ferrari something like 70/30 split for ferrari. I feel like if seb has gotten the tow in qualy he gets pole and wins in Monza but he didnt he lost trust to the team and started overdriving the car trying to compensate for bullshit he was given in 2nd half of the season with mistakes of earlier rounds in mind (especially strategy). And dont even let me start with the USA go back bc ferrari lost the concept no way you can win a championship when the car isnt developed unless you have 1sec advantage or something like that like brawn in 2009. Is Vettel at fault for 2018 failure? Yes but i feel like he was more made to do a lot of mistake that he never did in red bull bc the team priorotise him every time after his 1st WDC bc he clearly was a better driver (sorry webber fans).
