I am so Inspired by the idea of a Bard class! I find that Bards are almost never focused on self-buffing, so I’d make the hero power be 2 mana “give a friendly minion +2 attack (Baku:+3)”, but also print a start of game legendary with some condition to instead give enemy minions -2 attack. Then the class could get auras like Song of Rest (2 mana, Lasts 3 turns; at the end of your turn, restore 2 health to all friendly characters). They could definitely borrow some burgle mechanics from rogue. Maybe another aura, Ballad of the Battle of the Bands: 3 mana, lasts 3 turns; at the start of your turn, discover a card from Festival of Legends (from any class). Dissonant Whispers could be “2 mana: deal 6 damage to a minion. If it dies, return it to its owner’s hand.”

This is a pretty cool idea An interesting minion idea for this class could be something like "When your hero attacks with a weapon it activates the weapons inspire, but weapons inspire can no longer be activated normally" or something to that effect tho you would still need to write something which makes it so either the attack or the inspire doesn't take away durability so it doesn't loose durability twice due to the attack and inspire taking off one durability each.

Why not something simple to get the idea what class is supposed to be about likt " 2mana 0attakc 5durability weapon with text "Your hero power is upgraded. Inspire: lose 1durability""

Bard as a class sounds fun, but there is one long overdue for an appearance, and that is monk. It can be based on bounce mechanics (the neutral pandas, my favourite cards when I started playing), elusive or otherwise untargetability (based on that one tutorial level) and, well, sharing (maybe buffs, maybe cards or "stories" a la Lorewalker Cho in mercenaries). And other classes as well, tinker (make it all about mechs & spare parts GVG style), evoker (mix of druid, shaman & mage, think elemental nature shenanigans with a bit of arcane and dragons). And there would be more, but their identities are already integrated into the existing classes (mainly necromancer - DK, but there are many offshoots that can be made if not another class entirely, maybe like a deck restriction just as runes for DK. Cleric, barbarian, beastmaster, battlemage, the specialisation system in WoW basically). Thanks for coming to my TED talk about classes and ideas that blizzard maybe would implement like 10 years later when the hype dies off.

I always envisioned vicious mockery. Basically what if it was: "2 mana: Give an enemy minion -1/-2. Return this card to your hand at the end of your turn" I know it doesn't have the flavor of a temporary debuff but otherwise it's not very applicable. Maybe "2 mana: Deal 2 damage, give it -2 attack until the end of your opponent's turn (also returns)"

For Longing Lute, you should use the word “amongst” instead of “randomly to” to save space. There’s another card that does but I forget which.

I would do the hero powe like this: 1 Mana - Bardic Inspiration: Give a minion +1 attack this turn. Swaps each turn. (Give a minion +1 health). And I would use the "harmonics" mechanic to fit this concept.

What if the hero power was 0-cost, and could *Discover* one of 3 unique temporary spells? (The spells being 1-cost, 2-cost, and 3-cost.) That way you can activate *Inspire* cards the turn you play them, but the hero power itself wouldn't be overpowered if activated infinitely because you can't keep the cards you produce and they don't do anything if you don't spend mana that turn. It would also give the class some synergy with cards that care about casting spells, like Naga, and that's before you even decide what the three spells do. As for the three spells themselves, I think that they should each be a different type of song. 1-cost is a Happy Rhyme, 2-cost is a Tragic Tale, and 3-cost is a Heroic Epic. (You could even make them Common, Rare, and Epic for the fun of it.) And if you upgrade your hero power, it expands to four song choices and includes a 4-cost Ancient Legend (that's a Legendary, of course.) As for the effects, you can probably keep the ones you had in your video, but I would make them different so that you have some variety in your options. - The Happy Rhyme would heal a friendly minion and your hero for 1 health. - The Tragic Tale would deal 2 damage to your hero and an enemy minion. - The Heroic Epic would summon a random 1-cost minion and give it +1/+1. The Tragic Tale is removal for when you want control, but encourages you to heal occasionally with Happy Rhyme so your hero doesn't get low. The Heroic Epic gives you a minion for Happy Rhyme to heal, and provides tempo when you have an empty board. The three songs encourage you to rotate between them throughout the game, and encourage the Bard to focus on the one game plan that every good Bard should focus on - Tempo. As for the Ancient Legend, the 4-mana cost is really prohibitive, so it has to be really good. Here's my idea: - Ancient Legend summons a random legendary, and you can choose to either give it *Rush,* *Lifesteal,* or +1/+1 after it's summoned. This is a great tempo power. It combines the utilities of the three base songs into one more powerful option, but the 4-mana cost keeps it from being exploited until the mid-game. It's a bit swingy, being potentially really bad if it's a 3-mana or less legendary or really good if it's a 10-mana one, but the fact that you have to upgrade your hero power and wait until at least turn 4 means that you're unlikely to build your game plan around it, so it shouldn't be too oppressive in practice.

I always thought Inspire could have been an evergreen keyword if given proper attention. I have a few ideas for fun cards with the keyword, but one of my favorite is a warlock card with the text: Inspire: Your opponent draws a card. Can be skill testing to burn a card in their deck, I dunno it seems fun to me

I believe the class doesn't differentiate itself enough from priest with healing and mind control-type mechanics. I like the inspire keyword as a main feature for bard because it complements what bards typically do -- inspire. That being said, the hero power has too many different focuses, i.e. summon a 1/1 like paladin, heal like priest and give the hero and minion attack. I would design the hero power to be 2 mana and only give all friendly minions +1 attack. This effect is already in the game, beastial wrath from hunter, except it's less powerful, making it a more likely inclusion. For inspire to be balanced for the class, it would have to probably cost 2 mana because a 1 mana hero power triggers inspire too easily and a 3 mana hero power would be difficult to balance since it would likely have an effect like savage roar (+2) and be too powerful of value over time. Some cards are just fan creations, but with proper consideration of balance and game design, I don't see why this class couldn't exist in Hearthstone.

2 mana +1 attack on demand would only be fair if you print some truly terrible aggro cards for the class, otherwise that would be so insanely broken

@@FlareIsGone The effect should be until the end of turn, not a permanent stat buff. Giving the effect to all seems flavorful and logical because its minions that hear the music that get inspired, and the buff only matters to minions that can attack that turn. This isn't as strong as some hero powers that currently exist in the game: Guff, Reno, Kurtrus, Dawngrasp. Although this power is start of game, at least your opponent can interact with it by clearing your minions, and it isn't direct damage. 2 mana +1 attack to 7 minions is very powerful, but you first have to develop a board. Without it, the hero power does nothing, which is a very notable downside. Beastial wrath is a 2 mana, +1, permanent buff to all minions everywhere, and it isn't even remotely played in wild despite the plethora of neutral aggro cards and, to the best of my knowledge, nor in standard. Inspire Genn/Baku-type decks, like totem shaman, while strong, have unfortunately been power crept by higher card quality singleton decks. Guaranteed, efficient and more powerful interactions currently exist in the game to end games on turn 4 in an interactive board-based fashion. With the amount of draw and tutor printed in the game, an on demand 1 time hero power with pre-existing conditions is not so much more consistent than drawing beastial wrath from your deck.

My favorite card, at least right now, is Jungle Jammer, because you can build a pretty unique and fun deck (but not very competitive) in standard due to Thunderbringer being the only 8 cost beast in the format right now. Now, question: How would Baku work with the Hero Power? Also what do you think about the effect of taking no more than 2 damage at a time for a class mechanic? To be clear, this effect would be something specific minions could have or get, you won't be able to just give it to any minion. It will also come with a downside of lower stats and/or higher mana cost, like Devine shield minions used to be. For example, a 2 mana 1/4 that can only take 2 damage at a time and nothing else? The idea behind this is giving you more opportunities to actually make use of healing effects on minions, or maybe this can give you room to design single target health buff cards.

While I like the 1, 2 and 3 mana hero power I think that is a little over the top for the base power, you could put this on a bard hero card thought. I'd settle for the more basic: 2 Mana, Give a friendly minion +1 attack and health. turn your 2/1 turn 1 minion into a 3/2, it would break the mould though as it is the first Hero power that requires a minion on board to be usable. This other idea might be to op but: 2 Mana, reduce the mana cost of a random card in your hand by 1

I don't like the idea of hero power manacheat like that, feels like it would just be impossible to balance cards for. But yeah the HP could be quite literally anything that fits dnd bard, my idea was just bards heal and buff their team so having a 1/1 to give attack to fit the idea

@@FlareIsGone The Idea is not bad, I just felt like having 3 different version of a hero power on a basic hero is a bit over the top in terms of complexity and would rather see a more elaborate power on a hero card, since it is a hero card you can even increase the power level of the hero power on it, like: 2 mana, summon a 1/1 bard apprentice with inspire: give a random friendly minion +1 attack and health (and have the summoned minion trigger inspire instantly)

@@FlareIsGone yeah, just like that. Mostly I said that with the idea of balancing the three hero powers. Because, if you dont think of Genn or the cards that give you a use for 0 mana of your hero power, I dont see much use for the 3 cost one

So. About Skilled Duelist. Do you want to retain its exact wording so it can stack in case someone manages to use multiple hero powers a turn, or would you rather have him give you hero windfury to simplify the text and lock it to only 2 hits?
