John Belushi died forty years ago today. It was a tragic death that took one of America's great talents way before his time. But what if he had survived that night? How would the world be different today? How would you?

It's a butterfly effect. A butterfly flaps its wings in Georgia and it results in a Typhoon hitting Japan. So much of history could be changed by altering any single event. The film Frequency with Jim Caviezel and Dennis Quaid is an interesting look at what could happen if you change 1 event in the past.

Such a shame he was taken so young. The Blues Brothers is one of my favourite movies, along with BTTF and GB I watched it endlessly when I was growing up.

@MankySalad Well here are my choices of movies that I thought John Belushi should have been in if he didn't die: 1 Night Shift (in 1982) 2 Blake Edwards Curse of the Pink Panther (in 1983) 3 GhostBusters (in 1984) 4 Spies Like Us (in 1985) 5 Little Shop of Horrors (in 1986) 6 Dragnet (in 1987) 7 Who Framed Roger Rabbit (in 1988) 8 GhostBusters 2 (in 1989) 9 Nothing But Trouble (in 1991) 10 Hook (in the same year) 11 Blues Brothers 2000 (in 1998) But most of all I think he and Dan Aykroyd should be in one Spielberg-related movie called The Tiny Toons Adventures movie which should have been made in 1998. What do you think of my thoughts and which movie would you love to see him in? Please tell me.

*It's sad to think of all the movies and projects he could've worked in and that he would've been 73 years old right now, may he Rest In Peace.*

Ghostbusters would’ve been even better with Belushi as Venkman and it still would’ve been a hit.

MY TAKE ... I think following the success of the original Blues Brothers movie in 1980, Belushi would have almost certainty followed this up with a 2nd Blues Brothers move in about 1983 ... or so .... and POSSIBLY even a third B. Bros movie depending on the success of the 2nd movie John Belushi's idea of what was working for career would have probably changed his style of comedy. The music from the soundtrack was also heavily played on radio stations across the country, Its very likely Dan Akroid and Belushi would have also toured doing B. Bros. music from the movies that were likely to have followed the original movie (They both were actually good singers) as well as actors.

@@unfinishedstudios Sure! Since I discovered your channel, I checked out a few more of your videos on various subjects and really like your style and your "What If" way of looking at things, ME TOO! ... Like .... "What IF" .... Lynyrd Skynyrd be as popular now if they didn't have the crash at a high point in their careers? "What IF" .... Elvis just lived to be really old and his career just faded away, would people today still idolize him? "What IF" .... In the Back to the future movies they didn't use a DeLorean , would people even remember the car? ...(It really wasn't a good car) "What IF" .... John Belushi, Chris Farley, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon had just lived to be old and died from natural causes vs passing away at high points in each of their respective careers, would they be idolized now? "What IF" .... Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan (NOT that I wish this in any way) had passed away young before they got into issues with drugs and bad publicity? ... I'm sure they would now be idolized by people today .... Yeah .... "What IF" .... ????

As you said, this is a shower thought on steroids, here’s my addition pill thoughts. I feel like had Belushi lived past 1982 and gotten the role of Peter Venkman, he would’ve made the character zani and maybe even strick, Bill Murray on the other hand, has that hungover-dry wit delivery that just fits that character perfectly. If ghostbusters was made the way Aykroyd envisioned it, I honestly don’t feel I would’ve liked it. I can understand a story of 3 guys who have great knowledge and importance to share and use it to benefit/save the world, but I don’t know if I can understand a distant future where this world wide police force of people can control the afterlife and the universe like they’re just changing a circuit breaker. It would’ve seemed like a Star Wars/Star Trek rip off with ghosts. What I learn from Belushi’s death is that, when your good at being a party animal and being funny, don’t let the bad side of it get to you. Though mainly, his early overdose death informs me to stay away from drugs entirely. Weird to think that he passed 2 days before my birthday date. (My birthday 03/06/2002)

If Belushi was still alive and continued and finished production of Ghostbusters it wouldn't have been the movie it was today. He would have tried to overact because he was so tied up in his addiction at that point.

I saw this Netflix show about movies where John Belushi Eddie Murphy and Dan ackroyd but John Belushi does but they wanted to tribute him by making him slimmer but the guy who made it didn't know how to make it look like him so he kept it the same and said he did and they said it was perfect 😂😂😂

Belushi would've had Bill Murray's career, and he would've probably been cancelled by the current culture.
