With Mudkip and Totodile being my favorite starters, and with the Hoenn trio being my favorites, I can say that I love these alternate versions. But I also love the other designs, and would definitely want to see the other starters and evolutions! Amazing work.

I feel for the sinnoh starters you could do a dark, fighting, and psychic since it was heavily rumored that the starters of gen four would be that type before they were officially revealed! I would pick charmander, totodile, and treeko!

Here is another perfect type triangle that u can use: steel, dark and fairy. These types are more unique than the others you used and could be interpreted very creatively in the design of the starter Pokémon. I do love the starters you have here, my only nitpick is that as sets the color balance is a bit wonky. Johto has both Totodile and Chikorita as white and light blue, and Hoenn's Treecko and Torchic are grey and orange. The designs themselves are great, I would just alter some of the color choices.

OH. MY. GOD. Those Kanto starters are SO adorable and perfect and I'd die for them.

I am working on a rom hack and my starters are still the Kanto starters, but with new forms and typing. They still hold the Original triangle (Fire, Water and grass.) But they gain the Rock, Flying and fighting as a secondary typing and reversing type effectiveness. Fire having rock type to combat the flying type of the water starter... Bulbsaur is the fire starter, and has rock as a secondary typing. Charmander is the water type, and gains Flying once again as Charizard Meaning Squirtle is the grass type, and picks up fighting type as he second stage as wartortle. Squirtle had two reasons for being fighting First, I had already decided on the second type triangle being implemented, and Wartortle was "WAR" in the name, battle. Which is why he only gets it at second stage. The design also is more of a snapping tutrle as they are rather agressive. Bulbasaur has a valcano replacing the bulb. It stats off as just a rock, but since it is a fire type it needs to keep that. I know volcanos are liquid magama which is more of a ground type, but to keep the typing i went with rock. Which brings me to Charmander, nothing to special, the sprite is clean though. Unfortunately giving him flying made him the best starter. x4 against Fire/Rock and X4 against Grass/Fighting.

I think cyndaquil is the best starter too so that’s definitely my favorite it looks so cool can’t wait to see what fighting type typhlosion looks like

An idea for future videos: you should draw the same pokemon in different poses from varying angles, so we can get a more 3D view of it. It would make the video more immersive. Just saying. Or at least a front, back, and side views of said pokemon. Also, maybe a top and bottom view as well, thrown in for good measure. That would be helpful for the artists out there that want to draw these cool pokemon/ fakemon that y'all keep coming up with. I know it's more work, but it could be worth it if you're willing to put the work in. Best of luck with everything! Also, I'd love to see more fakemon starters! If the flying Bulbasaur stayed as a flying type, I think Cirrosaur, Stratosaur, and Nimbosaur would be cool names. The friendly little cloud gets bigger until it evolves into a full storm cloud. It's the first thing I thought lf when I saw its design. If they gain the grass type, they could be called Bollosaur(after a cotton boll, which is cotton while still on the plant), Mallowsaur/Malvasaur(after cotton being in the mallow family), and Gossysaur(after gossypium, the genus of the cotton plant)

Chikorita’s feather was perfect! But i kept thinking cyndaQUIL, as in the writing tool, which is a feather. Kanto and johto swapped almost had the same type swaps

I think totodile couldve been matched with the rock or fighting type too. Croconaw has kind of a Stone Age vibe and Feraligatr has beefy fighting type features too.

Obligatory disclaimer: while opinions will be had, I will try to keep mine constructive. The first trio of starter variants is, of course, the OG Kanto trio. Bulbasaur is Flying, Charmander is Fighting, and Squirtle is Rock. I'll be addressing these designs in no particular order, but I'll keep each variant trio together in their set. First off, Fighting-type Charmander. Honestly, I'm not really sure what this is supposed to be, and if you asked me to guess what type it is without telling me beforehand, I'd probably assume it was Ground type, not Fighting type. There just isn't really much in the design itself to specify the Fighting type as opposed to any other type, and Hoops doesn't give any explanation as to Charmander's design inspirations or details, so overall this variant just feels confusing. (In fairness, I've been working on a partially Fighting-type Charmander line myself and have still not really figured out the secret to that one.) Also, I have no idea what is up with those whisker-like protrusions on the sides of the head. Squirtle and Bulbasaur, however, are both solid designs... well, okay, Squirtle is solid and Bulbasaur is more gaseous. The Rock-type Squirtle is a rather obvious choice, given its hard shell, but the gems on the shell, the patterns on the belly, and the rocky shape of the tail make it quite clear that a lot of thought has gone into how Squirtle translates into the Rock type. The two-tone eyes also help to sell the 'rough-cut gem' look this adorable cutie has going for it, matching both the shell gems and the belly pattern. Honestly, it's hard for me to pick a favorite between Squirtle and Bulbasaur, because while Squirtle absolutely makes all the sense of the world, Bulbasaur is straight out of left field and so well put together that it doesn't freaking matter if its design inspirations are seemingly incongruous. (And to be fair, raining frogs is an occasional legitimate weather phenomena. For some reason.) It's a flying Bulbasaur with a big white fluffy cotton cloud on its back; what's not to love? This second trio has accomplished something that Game Freak never could: it's made the Flying-type Chikorita look equally pickable compared to Cyndaquil and Totodile. I mean, just look at that gorgeous feather on her head; she looks like a regular little diva and I am all for this. (The boa-esque fluff around her neck is a nice touch, too.) I'm curious to see what this gal will evolve into. The Fighting-type Cyndaquil is a scrappy little fighter. I love how the flames have been converted into actual quills, and how the X-shaped scar on his face indicates his Fighting type, which is arguably the sort of thing Charmander should've done to make it stand out more as a fighter. His expression and pose also work well to sell his personality, and he looks great with the squad. Ice-type Totodile is a cool design (no pun intended), even if in a real-world context an ice crocodile doesn't really make much sense. I like the large ice crystal spines on its back that vaguely resemble a snow-topped mountain. Finally, the Hoenn starters. I know everyone and their mother lieks Mudkip for some reason, but I've always been a Treecko gal myself. However, Ice-type Mudkip is magnificent. The color palette, the fin shapes, the icy gills... everything about this design simply screams 'Pick me!' This is probably the one case where I'd genuinely prefer Mudkip over Treecko, aside from Hoops' other starter variant video where he made an epic awesome Water/Ghost Swampert. And speaking of Treecko, it's not bad either. A Rock-type with literal rock star vibes, this could easily take the Hoenn contest circuit by storm. I like the orange, grey, and black color scheme and the sharp crystal shards that give it a punkish look. I wonder if its final form gets a Mega Evolution, and if it has Punk Rock as an ability. (Um... are there any sound-based Rock moves?) And finishing off the review, Torchic the Ground-type quail. Honestly, chickens are also birds that spend most of their time on the ground, so a Ground-type chicken wouldn't have been beyond the realm of possibility, but making Torchic look like a quail is just such a well-executed idea that I can't possibly dislike it. From the fluffy dust-colored wings to the oversized head feather, everything about this design screams adorable. I wish I could pick both it and Mudkip, but alas, none of these designs are actually canon to the games anyway.

One nice triangle could be Ground -> Stell -> Ice

bulbazor could also be flying electrik. Like rotom, Bulbasor liana can easily be convert into lightning that be shot from the cloud. The little cloud can also grow more and more into a stormy thunder cloud for the final stage I love your idea of switching type but aren't they more trinity type to play with ? Like Fairy Poison Steel ? Psy Dark Bug ? Electrik Water Ground or Ice Dragon and whatever can beat ice x) I think it's a miss oportunity here x)

Hoops, we have to see what these evolutions for the type change starters. Provides a great chance to introduce new alternate final evolutions.

So my problem with the Johto starters, especially Cyndaquil and Chikorita, is that they share the exact same typing with Charmander and Bulbasaur. So the ideal would be Chikorita - Ice Totodile - Fighting Cyndaquil - Fire (His quills being used as a propeller). Now, this means that Hoenn in itself is a problem as well, as Totodile and Mudkip share a type here as well... however, considering we cannot make Mudkip Rock type either (Since then it shares a type with Squirtle). So Chikorita, Totodile and Cyndaquil being my types is better. This way, no flipped type shares a starter type.

Fighting, Psychic, and Dark is a true typ triangle as well.

Kanto names for Base 1: Floatsaur 2: Brawlzard 3: Oretle

Here are the names i came up with Cumulusaur - from cumulus clouds Cirrusaur - from cirrus clouds Uranusaur - from Uranus, the primordial sky god which i thought of because venusaur has venus in its name and its a planet as well Brawlmander Brawlmeleon Brawlizard Dont need to describe brawl Geodle - from geode Quartortle - from quartz Stalagtoise - from stalagmite

I dub thee: Nimbusaur, Warmander, Fractle (Dirtle’s been taken), Averita, and Hyndaquil. “Totodile” doesn’t pertain to the type, so it can keep the name.

A fun triangle I would like is Fighting, Dark and Psychic. Near perfect as well. Psychic resists and is super effective against Fighting Dark is super effective and is immune to Psychic. Fighting resists and is super effective against Dark.

This version of Ivysaur and Venusaur looks like they might even be able to be bipedal still since the cloud/cotton plant on their back doesn't look like it would be even close to as heavy as the flower that's canonically there that causes Ivysaur to lose its ability to stand on its hind legs. I never did have any problems with bipedal Pokemon, myself, though. I'd probably go for Bulbasaur, myself, though, in Gen 1's part. Gen 2, I'd go for Chikorita. I originally find it difficult to pick between Chikorita's line and Cyndaquil's, but honestly, here, Cyndaquil just isn't quite as cute as in canon in my opinion, and I love cute Pokemon. I would really have to see what the final starters look like, though. Gen 3's starters personally just don't really strike my fancy that much, though, so I'm not sure there.

I can't really say for sure which starter I'd choose since there aren't any final evos, but I think I'd go the exact same choices that I choose for the Canon starters - bulba or squirtle, chikorita, and treecko

I definitely like the flying bulbasaur, the cloud motif looks good and I'd be curious to see what evolutions would look like there. I will say the fighting charmander probably is a mon that would require me to see the final evolution. I mean the design is fine enough, but doesn't really jump out to me as is. So yeah, definitely one of those starters that would require seeing the endgame before deciding to pick or pass. Totodile is definitely my Johto-starter and here I think it works really well, I agree I'd love to see an ice version in game. I mean if anything given Legends it'd likely just be an ice type feraligatr but I'm also okay with that as well. I like the rock treeko look probably the best out of the Hoenn. It has a solid foundation that the final evolution could definitely look cool. And while the torchic is kind of plain, I think it works quite well and another one I'd be curious to see what it could evolve into.
