Yeah, that's right, we're already back with the sequel -- the first Steven Universe "What If...?" video has gotten a pretty positive response so far, and there's been more than a few people clamoring for a follow-up with some of the other prominent characters, so let's just jump right into it! 5 characters, 4 Pokémon apiece, you know the drill!

Hey everyone, welcome to "What If Steven Universe Characters Were Pokemon Trainers? (Part 2)"! After the positive response to the first one (seriously, that got over 8000 views just in the last couple of weeks, that's the best performance of a "What If...?" video's first couple weeks of life in a LONG time, haha), I decided not to waste any time and get right on making the follow-up, so hey, here's this! I *might* do a Part 3 to this at some point -- not likely right away, by any means, as I have a couple other videos that I kinda wanna do first, but, if there's enough demand for it, perhaps a Part 3 to the Steven Universe "What If...?" could happen! Speaking of future videos, there might be a slight delay in when the next one goes up, since I've got a big video editing commission to work on. They've already paid for a bit of it in advance, so I've got to prioritize that. They want it done by the end of July, so if I don't get anything else up by the end of the month and until the first bit of August, that'd be why, but keep your eyes on my Twitter feed for any updates regarding that! I’m surprised Bismuth doesn’t have a Timburr. It’s a Pokémon that loves to help and hang around construction sites.

the timburr line using their construction materials as weapons also makes for a good reference to how bismuth repurposed her construction abilities to make weapons for the rebellion

I think kyogre should be replaced with lugia seeing as it is heavily associated with water and the ocean and being at the bottom of the sea like lapis was and them both having wings that look like hands and can both fly. Lugia is basically lapis as a pokemon

Honestly, I had actually considered Lugia in Kyogre's spot, for basically the reasons you listed, but I just felt like Kyogre fit more largely for being an actual Water-type. That said, Lugia could easily slot into there, too, so I don't disagree with it!

Yay Part 2! Some ideas for other characters: Jasper: Bisharp - A combattive, edgy Dark type warrior who prefers hand to hand combat. Centiscorch -references the many insect-like Corrupted gems Jasper had in that one episode. She also fused with one that one time. Groudon - Big, strong, agressive monster that can tear through mountains? Perfect. Plus its a good counter to Lapis' Kyogre And lastly, and this is mostky an esthetic pick. Mega Ampharos - Jasper has long hair and after the conflict is shown to actually want to help people

Aquamarine: Beautifly- Pretty but viscous, especially when it's hunting. Salazzle - To represent her own views of herself as a leader and the way she essentially acts like she owns the two Topaz under her. Hatterene- Tempermental, as well as shown to be able do..some sort of magic with the ribbon wand she has. Wishiwashi - both Small creatures who, due to the way they look, are underestimate by opponents but in reality can be pretty strong

*walks onto the stage and taps the mic* White Diamond would have an entire 6 mon team full of nothing but Xurkitree, because they look like her and she's all about herself. As an aside, all of the Diamonds having at least one Ultra Beast or known extraterrestrial Pokemon would feel thematically fitting.

@@AbsurdToastling I don't know about breaking the format to give them full teams of 6, but I do kinda like the idea of them getting Ultra Beasts! Not a guarantee, obvs, I'd have to see how well any of them would actually fit (in my opinion), but something to consider, for sure!

@@SuperNerdDaniel Oh yeah I was mostly joking about the Full 6, but, honestly, given that she's basically Gem God, if anyone *were* to break the format, it would make the most sense for it to be White. A more serious suggestion for her would probably be Ultra Necrozma because That Radiance.

So, here are some extra pokemon ideas. Bismuth - Ditto While Bismuth can't morph into other gems, she can basically use her body to morph into any weapon, just like how Ditto can morph it's body into different pokemon Connie - Hisuian Samurott Mainly because of the fact that it's a rare form of Samurott, referencing how we didn't know where Connie would end up at the end of SU, and we didn't expect the rare outcome of her joining in on the fight. Peridot - Spiritomb Weird reference, but mainly because it's a pokemon that's made up of multiple souls and it's terrifying, just like The Cluster Greg - Obstagoon Since it's based off of KISS, another rock band, but it's powerful yet it's signature move is protective, kind of mixing Greg's old life of a wild rock n roll star, with his now current role of being Steven's dad Lapis - Mesprit It's the pokemon of emotion, but it ended up being feared, Lapis has a big connection to her emotions and she was often feared until in the future, they were both accepted as guardians.

peridot should also have a elgyem because it's based on the little green men alien the same type of stuff toy that peridot wanted in the episode Too short to ride. Bonus it's a small, green, extra terrestrial that is hyper intelligent in working with advance technology. The same description as peridot.

@@SuperNerdDaniel of course. Like Lapis, Tapu Fini is a very powerful and mysterious Pokémon with the ability to control the ocean. And according to the Pokédex, anyone who approaches it recklessly has bad calamities happen, just like what happened in the “Ocean Gem” and the “Mirror Gem” episodes.

Honestly, if there's enough support/demand for a Part 3, I'd gladly do it at some point! I was thinking of either focusing on some antagonistic characters (like The Diamonds or Jasper), or maybe doing a video with Lars and The Off-Colors, something like that.

Personally, if Rose Quartz were to have a team, I think she’d have a Diancie for *obvious* reasons, and also how Diancie is just an advanced Carbink, showing that she’s the same as any other gem aside from her status.

I think Peridot should have a Meganium, since she loves plants and in the Future episode you showed clips from she even said she was sad to see one of her plants dying and Meganium can revive dead plants and flowers with its breath.

Idk anything besides top of the iceberg knowledge for the show, which makes me ask, Is there some drama going on with the show currently? For a view increase of that size for something that stopped years ago seems kinda random unless something about it is mainstream?

Nah, quite the opposite, actually -- someone had asked the creator, Rebecca Sugar, not too long ago if there was any chance for a revival, reboot, etc., and they basically said, "I'd love to be able to bring it back and do more stuff with it, so I'd love to see the fans make a lot of noise and show their appreciation for Steven Universe to show that there's interest in that sort of thing". So I'd imagine it's a combination of that, plus people hearing/seeing about it (since it premiered over 10 years ago) and finding it for the first time.

I really loved your teams. I think Primarina would really suit Lapis too. I've always invasioned that. Also, if you ever do The Diamonds. I think their aces should be the sinnoh legendaries. Since they're pretty much the rulers of the Pokemon world and play a part in creating them like the Diamonds do for gems. That's up to you tho. It's your opinion after all! ❤

Eh, I'm not 100% sure that would really fit -- I mean, don't get me wrong, I get your line of reasoning there, and I'm absolutely not against the idea of giving Legendaries to the Diamonds, but I'm not really sure the Sinnoh Creation Trio would be a good fit. Like, Dialga is associated with Pokemon Diamond as a version exclusive, so that would fit KINDA? I'd have to look into them and their lore/PokeDex entries a bit more to see if there'd be potential there, but don't be surprised if I include them in a future part and that's not the case, haha.

I'm not really sure I would say for Greg to have the male indeedee and we can see the female was given to Pearl and then later on this inspired Steven to catch a set of meowstic because I had a dumb thought thinking that they were evolutions of meowstic from galar so they can have something like that

This maybe a dumb question, but why give them teams of 4 when you can have 6?

@@younghopeproductions485 Nah, that's a fair question! This is something I've explained before on these (though I guess it HAS been a fair bit of time since anyone's actually brought it up), but basically, I feel like the 4 Pokémon format is a good way to explore each given character's traits, abilities, quirks, etc. through the Pokémon picks I go with without getting to the point where I'm making redundant picks for certain characters to fill out slots "just because". There have been a few points where I kinda wish I'd given myself a 5th slot to work with, but more often than not, the 4-Mon setup has just worked out better for me and the way I put these together.

@SuperNerdDaniel Okay, that makes a bit more sense. Plus, they could potentially be gym leaders in some universe, and 4 is a common amount for the later gyms. As for types, some could become gym leaders without a set type. I mean, have you seen Volkner and Flint in Diamond and Pearl. I mean, imagine a team of pokemon that share the same gimmick or design choice, but not type. That'd be funny and interesting. Sorry, got a little off topic
