"Reich" can actually be translated in multiple ways. You're right that it firstly means Realm, but an Empire is still called Reich like in "Kaiserreich". It describes something like Kingdom even though it means literally the Realm of the King

Personally in my own mod folder I have my own form Roman Empire for Italy. It makes it way easier and more historical in my opinion. Because well there was no way Mussolini was going to and probably new he wasn’t going to take all of europe. So I believed it made since for him to take Greece, Yugoslavia, bulgaria and then turkey and form the empire. It’ll give a great manpower boost bringing it up to par with Germany. It’s at this point I usually fix my divisions put 9 to 12 battalions or what ever per division. Start building massive amounts of air craft up until this point I keep it as a secondary with a max of 3 factories. But now with 15 at minimum for Bombers, fighter and CAS. And then prepare for a war with the allies. Doing this before Germans invade can be tough but rewarding. Especially if you’ve built up your Navy because you can use it to take on the Royal Navy which I usually do in the Mediterranean for about a year until France falls and they’re running out of ships there. Make sure you take the suez and naval invade the rock. Or have Spain join. After taking France move on England. It’s almost impossible from keeping Germany out by this point but it shouldn’t matter as long as you hold France. Don’t let them have any parts or invade England with you. They’ll steal parts of England and France. By this point you can stand toe to toe with Russia population wise and Germany militarily. So put and army on both borders fortify your soviet border with lvl 4 and put some mountaineers with infantry divisions. Then just let them throw themselves at them. I’d also have a large army on a fortified fall back line with atleast lvl 6 forts. Keep then border troops relatively light but still strong enough to hold possibly wanting to reinforce a reserve army. But also along side your infantry has support comany or repair or what ever to steal there equipment.
