I don't think their reputation had anything to do with their fruit. No one was saying Kaido was a a dragon. They feared him because he was unkillable and was the king of the beasts. Big mom also wasn't known for that, she was just known for her hunger and how you need to go to her tea parties.

Im wondering who will be considered an emperor after the wano ask is over. Will there be the same 4 + luffy (making them Gokou) or will one of them actually die (still yonkou) or will both Mig mom and kaido be no longer considered emperors (Sankou). I mean, that Luffy will be considered one of them after literally beating kaido is kind of a given at this point^^.

@@random.3665 Big mom still has her influence, so she still a power on the seas. Kaido effectively lost his entite influence these last few arcs. His beast army? Gone, his control over wano? Gone. Basically all his plans are lost. So Kaido himself is a powerful force but his influence over the world is lost. Big mom still got her family alive(her crew) and control over her countries and the underworld. So Luffy will replace Kaido and Big mom will still be around, cuz her defeat wasnt a ko but out of bounce.

The Gokou will get together without Blackbeard and announce their decision to make Imu a pirate emperor instead, declaring themselves the new world government.

Or just master all the advanced skills like Luffy has been doing. Maybe they would also make special weapons for themselves.

Totland will automatically not be able to function the same way because Big Mom's Devil Fruit powers are integral to the way that she controls the country.

Big Mom gets her fruit by eating Mother Caramel. That's a key part of her story. If she didn't do it, she could have ended up as a world government agent.

I do admit that without their devil fruits their threat level will drop significantly since they won't be able wield such destructive powers. They still have indestructable bodies. Keep in mind big mom still had that iron balloon body and kaido literally jumped 10,000 feet without using his devil fruit and still survived. I don't think they honestly could have improved their haki bc they seemed to have mastered it. All of them have had decades to improve their fighting styles. They all used the three types of haki (minus Blackbeard) at least at one point. Plus it seems like they all could use the advanced application of each too. Physically I think the yonko are each at their zenith. They aren't getting any stronger than what they are now if anything time and age would eventually make them weaker like the dying whitebeard. Their devil fruits just make things easier. Without em they would just take longer to destroy things.

The world government and other yonkos didn't recognize Luffy as a yonko back when Morgan spread that news around.

Well, we don't know how physically strong mother caramel was. She seemed to mostly rely on her devil fruit power and never physically fought anybody.

I don't think there was anything in the manga that said Kaido would have died if not for the fruit at God Valley. Big Mom merely states that on the day that Rocks crew fell in God Valley, she gave him the fruit which puts him in a life long debt to her.

Yeah, Yonkou is a sort of Quasi-Political position, that is mainly achieved through power initially but sustained through influence and diplomatics. As no matter how powerful Kaido or Big Mom is individually, they can only be at one place at one time, which would leave any territory they have claimed prior defenseless. It's not to dissimilar from how Bounties in One Piece, while mainly acquired by fearsome and powerful pirates through power and conflict, are still just a portrayal of how big of a threat someone is to the World Government (Like Nico Robin getting a 80 million berri bounty when she was just an eight year old kid with little to no fighting ability). Of course, one needs some form of power to maintain both of these, but combat ability isn't the only form of power in the series. I mean, if someone had built Pluton for example, then even if the person in question is weak by themselves and has no combat ability, that is still an ancient weapon right there. It would be the equivalent of someone in our world owning a High Yield Nuclear Missle, you might be able to knock em' out in hand to hand, but if they fire that missle, then anything within that blast and fallout radius is pretty much doomed. (Dr. Vegapunk would be a good example of this, he doesn't sound like much of a fighter, he is arguebly one of the most influencial people in the entire world due to his technological prowess) Shanks is more of an outlier and is probably a Yonkou through his connections to the Gorosei and how he seems to know a lot about the world which people aren't supposed to know, making him a theoretical massive threath to the government if he made his knowledge of the world public.

I think Blackbeard didn't wanted to waste his time asking Thatch for the Yami Yami no Mi since he would likely say no which is why he probably killed him and didn't risk starting a fight with him giving out attention before he stole the fruit.

@@didack1419 Well she is physically strong and without being able to rely on her Devil Fruit she would need to be stronger still. Hell, it could be the joke again that she burns all those calories trying to swim after the Sunny and I could easily see Oda doing that as the joke and reason why she could catch up. Hell, as someone else down below in the comments points out, Rayleigh is an amazing swimmer and he's still a "normal" human without a Devil Fruit power, just physical strength even at his age.

They can still use the coup de burst to get advantage, so unless she could *really* swim faster than she can fly, she would fall behind at least a little.

@@theenjeneer2792 Well maybe Akainu is alot stronger than we give him credit for, also, WB wasnt anywhere near full health, he had been stabbed multiple times, and his insides were charred by a magma attack, and half his face destroyed from a magma attack at the time he attacked Akainu, so it is very possible WB was highly weakened, like Vegeta after he was hit with the spirit bomb then came back, and couldnt figure out why his finishing move didnt destroy gohan goku and krillen, the fact he could do that to Akainu anyway in that shape, being way less than 100% from the start of the fight is more than a feat on it's own

Big mom would be In a weaker state and probably not sent down the pirate life by stroyven for her powers while whitebeard his allies would be dead unable to escape so the Marines would have captured them. Luffy would probably be dead much sooner in the story

I think Kidos crew is mostly because he is strong Shanks and whitbeards crew would stand by them even if they get bedridden and weak Kidos grew would not Big moms would there family so he would be worst off. Luffy's crew would stand by him if he lost his fruit and could not fight

He did all of that with a devil fruit except for scarring Shanks(admittedly impressive) and killing Thatch which as you already said was probably a back stab and not actually a fight. He killed white beard by ganging up on him with his entire crew after Newgate had half his head blown off by akainu, a hole in his chest, and a absurd amount of wounds that got tallied up when he finally did die. Black beard is FAR from weak but compared to big mom or kaido he's not that impressive. His most impressive feat is how well his schemes pay off like they pay off really well hence why he's currently one of the strongest pirates alive and a yonko currently

Yeah but it was Whitebeards fruit that made him a Yonkou. Blackbeard being an anomaly with 2 fruits is why he's up there now, without them he wouldn't be nowhere near as powerful as the other Yonkou.

Ok. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Thriller Bark. Even if Shanks didn’t kill him, he may have still been a Yonko and died around the time Shanks rose to power. I thought Shanks having the map (which… I guess was a lie, haven’t watched Marineford in a while either) might’ve given more credence to the idea, but the theory isn’t reliant on it. John’s notoriety, and particularly his immense treasure, do indicate to me that he’s among the more likely candidates for former Yonko. None of the other former Rocks Pirates seem to have much of a claim to fame, aside from the ones who became Yonko, and Shiki, who doesn’t seem to have.

Well, one of the current emperors might either die or basically get demoted (no longer considered an emperor). So it might be that the number will still be 4, with luffy being one of them.

The yonkou system is ending post-wano. There are no "replacements"

Nothing in the manga says that Kaido was near death in God valley. Big mom herself only states that she gave him the fruit on the day that Rocks fell at God valley and that he owes her for life, as in a lifelong debt. Not "He has her to thank, for still being alive"

Assuming that the yami yami no mi is not critical to drawing out and collecting fruit powers from dead people, maybe.
