Today's video is all about science, carpentry and home safety... well, kind of, more or less.
We test a whole arsenal of airguns with a whole array of calibers (from .177 to .68) against lined up 1/2 inch drywall panels, in the hopes of recreating a real case "internal home walls" scenario.
Blasting nine airguns against them, capturing the results in slow mo. A MUST WATCH!

I actually tested airguns vs rifles through phone books about 30 years ago at my house in North Carolina. My 1990 Crosman 1377 pumped 5 times broke through 40 pages, pumped 10 times, through 70 pages, 13 pumps = 85 pages, 15 pumps =90 pages. My 1991 Beeman RX .22 cal using standard Crosman pellets pushed through 200 pages to 240 pages of the 450 page phone book. My 1992 Charter Arms Survival Arms .22 (now owned by Henry) using standard Federal LR loads went to 375 pages and bulged the back of the ohone book. With the CCI Stinger hollow point it went through 350 pages but destroyed a peach sized area because of extreme mushrooming. Stillnown that amazing gun. With my Marlin tube load magazine bolt action, ".22 pops" went 35 pages, .22 shorts went 100 pages, and .22 longs went 350 to 375 pages. My Winchester 30-30 with Winchester 150 grain went through 2 phone books and 150 pages into the 3rd book... or... 1050 pages. My Winchester 12 guage shotgun went through 700 pages with high base #4 shot, 850 pages with #2 shot, 1200 pages with lead slugs, and 1600 pages with copper slugs. I hsd other guns but i don't mention them. And yes, one of them went through over 10,000 pages. I'd love to try the Zeus 12 guage at 3,000 fpe and see what it will do. I'd guess, over 1,000 pages witb a steel ball.

@@AirgunAlley 🤣 🔫 I remember all this stuff because I used all of those for hunting. I wrote it down and referred to it so frequently that it became ingrained in my memory. Don't tell anybody but I did kill a big 170 pound deer with the Henry survival .22 in a county where it was legal to do so, back then. Now it has to be centerfire and so many FPE. All my other deer were taken with my PSE bow, shotgun and Winchester 30-30. There are airguns now that take Cape Buffalo. I'd love to get another Beeman RX but those had jamming problems. I heard the RX-1 is immensely better than the RX and the RX-2 even better than the RX-1. I love Beeman. I use their pistol for ratting and when I want to eat one of my father-in-law's chickens.

Very practical demonstration and should raise everyone's safety consideration when handling air guns of any stripe. Treat them all as if they were gun-powdered firearms. Potentially life threatening and respect their power. Nice demo!

Interesting video and as always the slow motion is outstanding. This will be a great reference material for airgun users of all calibers. I always think of airguns as being relatively friendly in regard to "over-penetration" but they obviously can penetrate quite a bit.

Great video! Just shows how powerful these airguns are. I'd love to see you shoot some brake barrel carbines like the typical that everyone had when we were kids. Now a days even brake barrels are pretty powerful and use compressed gas instead of a loaded spring. Here in Spain the legal limit for having an airgun without a firearms permit is 24,2 joules. Most brake barrels are between 16 and 20 Joules in this market, though there are always some models that go to the legal limit(and beyond....). Most common calibers here are the .177 and the .22. , some .25, but nowhere near the other two. Would be great to see you put them against the drywall test. Keep up the good work!
@AirgunAlley

Timely, informative and outstanding video, thank you. I'm very happy that you appear to be slowly migrating to PCP. Because I'm finding LTLs have a short shelf life. In the mean time, you're costing me a lot of money with this migration. You see I like to blame others for my problems! Pre Airgun Miami, I bought an FX Wildcat and an Avenger, both 25 cals. and the world was in balance. I fire(d) those rifles at indoor (25 yards, 3 miles away) and outdoor (100 yards, 48 miles away, my everglades) gun ranges. Then I found your channel and I had to have an LTL HDR 50. And for good measure I tossed in a Walther 43 cal. which is cooler IMHO. Then I viewed your Dragon Claw 50 cal. video so I bought the Recluse 357 version (the ammo is far cheaper than 50 cal and I can fire 24 shots on a single fill, cocked on low). I do not regret the 357 purchase one bit! Its the perfect range complement to my 25 cals and it's way too much fun to shoot. Since I live in a similar suburban/urban environment to you, in So. Cal., I decided to create Airgun Alley LA alongside my house for added convenience. I even looked into knocking off your logo, Ha Ha Unfortunately I found my ranges don't allow LTL ammo and my neighbors complained about the loud noise from the LTLs. I do not want to be on Next Door or meet the sheriff in person, now I have no where to shoot LTL within a reasonable driving distance. I decided to purchase a suppressed Marauder pistol, a suppressed HW44 pistol, and suppressed Chaser which makes everyone happy living around Airgun Alley, LA. The LTLs are nightstand paper weights waiting on bad people who will most likely never show up, at least when I'm home. 🤣 .

Great video as always and as others have mentioned it's good to know how powerful these air guns can be. I noticed a lot of the smaller calibers went through more boards but really didn't move them much. Now the large caliber like the .68 penetrated less, but really shook those boards, and the exit destruction was massive! Now I can't decide whether I like speed, and cutting through an object with a smaller caliber, or do I like the effect of big and heavy mass that would knock things down. 🤔

i have found that if you are not shooting at your planned shooting area it is gonna make some kind of hole. my shooting area is made primarily of metal house doors cut in half with a 2x4 set width wise and another set flat and screwed tohgether for 5 inches thick space between the halfs of the metal door i fill this space with rubber mulch from home depot and that will stop upto 51 caliber pcp air rifles, you might need it thicker if you are shooting a 58-72cal air gun. but for those less lethal ones this is overkill. when you get too many holes in the metal home depot sells 1/16th inch metal panels that can be screwed onto the door to make it new and fresh, and all this is relatively cheap. i made a 6ft tall 8 foot wide wall because i am blind and care about my neighbors. and the cost was not so cheap. but i wanted safety as i am shooting upto 600fpe at the area. and plan to recover the lead to re-cast it back into projectiles later. yall have fun with all that. Hey there. Can I pick your brain regarding the 9mm bullets you we're shooting out of the HDR 68 in previous videos. When the bullets leaves the plastic housing, is it possible to put back together and reuse. Maybe a dab of light glue to seat back in the plastic casing? Thanks
@AirgunAlley
@AirgunAlley 8 ай бұрын
Hey friend! Of course!! It really all depends on what you shoot. Because the bullet will definitely remain intact and reusable, the plastic casing on the other hand is more prone to breaking when hitting hard targets. In my experience, about 50% of the time I was able to put them back together and reuse them. No glue needed as they click back in very nicely :)

Hey neighbor!! Airgun Alley 1.0 started in the Gables! We changed a few homes/ranges since then…. But hey all you need is a small alley on the side of your house :)

Why are this new air guns so silent? I remember mine to be quite loud, at least 50-60% the “bang” of a real gun.
@AirgunAlley
@AirgunAlley 4 ай бұрын
Ha! The truth is… I film everything with iphones and unfortunately iphones compensate the audio, leveling loud sounds. So basically you’re not hearing the real BANG these guns make. If my channel grows enough, I’ll one day be able to hire a cameraman… AND THEN we’ll finally hear the proper, realistic sounds :)

You forgot the insulating material between the boards and to tell us the muzzle energy of each rifle which renders your results pointless. For starters a smaller pellet such as the .177 H&N Hornet at the same muzzle energy as a .25 will simply blast through 4 layers of Gyproc plasterboard.
@AirgunAlley
@AirgunAlley 9 ай бұрын
These results are far from being pointless my friend! The insulation material is indeed placed in the external walls of homes, but rarely in the interior walls. As I say in the video 🤦🏻‍♂️

All you need is a pellet catcher. All you pellets and bbs will fall to the bottom.

Excellent job on your video!!! Yes, drywall, 2x4’s.. none of it’s gonna stop big bores or magnum level handguns. So the video below pits a 44 mag against a 457 air rifle. The 44 mag is slinging a 240 grn cast slug at 1200 fps. It’s not enough to beat the air rifle. The 45 super is pushing a 261 grn cast slug at almost 1200 fps. Can it beat the air rifle? Watch to find out. 457 Air Rifle Vs 44 Mag Vs 45 Super Vs 2X4's - Who Wins? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jqmEa9CUuN60inU.html

Yes that sounds painful and thankfully I never really had that curiosity. Personally I like to shoot stuff and film it in slow motion. Now, there are times when my wife would definitely love to shoot me with one of these… but that’s a different story
