Today we finally compare the famous Umarex HDR 50 (or TR 50 in the US) to the brand new Mercury Rise TR 50 or Torpedo Revolver.
Both 50 caliber paintball markers are designed for “less lethal” home defense, but which one will perform better?
In this video we cover all the main points and differences between the HDR 50 and the Torpedo Revolver, both factory 'out of the box' guns with a similar power output. A MUST WATCH!
WE’VE REACHED 25K SUBSCRIBERS THIS WEEK!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH 🙌🏼🙏🏽

For those that are saying the tr50 less lethal revolver is not a good less lethal defensive weapon , I highly disagree with you. I carry the tr50 on me every single day as a personal defensive weapon. And I have it loaded with devastator rounds. I carry 3 full magazines loaded with this ammo. I recently had to use it against a guy that was charging at me with a knife in his hand. I shot him in the chest with 3 devastator rounds in quick succesion and he dropped the knife and ran away while actually crying. Oh and I have the 11 joule version that shoots between 450 and 470 fps.....
@alfonso7851
@alfonso7851 9 ай бұрын
I agree with you, I have always defended that these weapons with kinetic projectiles can make a person armed with a knife desist from their intentions and here your testimony proves it.And we are talking about an 11J weapon, I think 11J is the minimum, between 16 and 20J without the most recommended powers
@alfonso7851
@alfonso7851 9 ай бұрын
Although it is true and I have commented on this in different KZfaq threads, it is that these weapons have their limitations, so how everything will depend a lot on the skill of who wields it and their determination. There is nothing worse and more dangerous than being insecure in the face of a risk situation to which we have to respond. It's important where to shoot like you said if you shoot 3 or more rounds at the We must also keep in mind the person who was shot because not all people suffer the same trauma.For example, there are innumerable cases where police officers have shot with electric weapons or defense sprays and many cases have resisted being subdued by non-lethal means. Of what if we can be sure that it is a means with many possibilities to defend oneself against someone who is not armed with a firearm with a knife . As I said before, 16J to 20J is recommended and choose a good ammunition.

@@kevinmakyle8779 Well, I can talk about the UMAREX HDR 50 you will know that there are 7;5 and 11J but they are marketed already modified to more than +20J valve kit is sold to increase power or many stores already sell it modified, what happens is that the more power the less autonomy of the cylinder if with 11J you can shoot 18 rounds with 20J you can only 12 rounds we speak with a stable fps speed do not rush the shots You know that the more you rush the last ones they already lose a lot of fps.

When you talked about Umarex contracting parts for their HDR 50 to this company, it made me think of something else with Umarex. A bit over 2 years ago, they announced the Umarex Primal at ShotShow. It's a 20 gauge air shotgun they market primarily to shoot their proprietary slugs, although they claim it can shoot nearly anything. Well, they made their proprietary slugs available for order, at a whopping $46 for 10. Nearly $5 per shot. I wouldn't have been surprised if all the preorders were cancelled and they ended up cancelling the Primal. But it's still scheduled for release later this month. Well, how this relates. Their proprietary slugs are hardly proprietary. The slugs are actually produced by a US company. They market that slug design for reloading in a number of gauges for shotguns. If you buy from them directly, the slugs come in a box of 25 for $18.

Bought a HDR 50 times ago, had to tweak it a bit, luminescent paint on the sights to make them usable, new barrel for accuracy and slight power enhancement, restriction valve changed to get close to 18-19 joules, and "devastator" as ammunition of choice. It is now "OK" for non lethal defense up to 10 meters, with two full power 6 rounds barrels for 1 CO² cartridge, I store it with a mix of 3 "devastators" and 3 pepper balls in each barrel.

Another great video! I'd say that the HDR 50 won that one! Also, on gas release I'm sure you know that once the power drops too much to shoot you can pull the trigger a few more times which makes pushing the red button in quite easy. I think that the torpedo revolver loses power because the mag is too long, the round has to travel the length of the mag before entering the barrel so uses more gas to shoot the round thus reducing the launch pressure.

I purchased my T4E-50 three years ago, & am extremely pleased w/ its performance. I don't have it to be a killing weapon. I use mine as a blinding weapon of Gun-Jitsu. Much as I have boxer-pittie rescue dogs that guard my home. I'm not that "I have a firearm" home-defense guy. I do own firearms, but they're not my primary self-defense against would-be criminals. At 10-15' (or less), the T4E is plenty accurate enough to hit the bridge of the nose. Blinding/disorienting the target at least 5 seconds... at which point my dogs have a little somethin' they wanna say about it.

I agree with you. My tuned HDR-50 is not a precision gun. I have the barrel and Cylinder and tuning kit from Home Defense 24 in Germany. I have test my Gun with both Laser and Dot Sight. The down side of tuning are that the Gun use a lot of Gas 15-20 shots, and I have to change the Co2 patron. The upsides are better precision and very hard hits. I mold my own Slugs to save some money. Out of the box the HDR-50 is not a high quality Gun as my other Umarex Guns. My personal favorite gun is the Walter CP-88 it is high Quality and high price, but the Walter will last for a long time with metal parts an no Plastic parts. It would be great to have something like that, without the grips, that could be mounted under the magazine tube of a shotgun. It would be ideal for dealing with an intruder who doesn't pose a threat to your life, but you don't want to just run away. But you'd have the option of employing lethal force, if warranted.

I agree that it could work in a home defense situation. At close range it would penetrate skin and muscle, and as long as your house is small and you're close, then you've got them. I just wouldn't use it for general self defense while out of the house. However, the Mercury Rise does look like a cool gun and I definitely want one.

I recently bought an upgraded HDR 50. I like that the Mercury Rising CO2 bump doesn't require the allen key to tighten/loosen. Would that valve would fit onto the Umarex gun?

cool i wasnt sure, , but that makes me wonder why the mercury rise showed as weaker, expescially when they claim to make the umarex parts. hmmm i do like the mercury rise case alot better and that safety, wonder if the internals from the umarex can be put into the mercury rise and or if the weaker energy level is from the different magazine and barrel lineup and how it fits together. haveing the deeper mag would take more air to fill the space and cause somewhat of the less energy output. hope that thinking helps in some way. personally though i gotta stick with my actually lethal 51 cal air guns. and i wish you had that option. wonder if a aea airgun put into a umarex t4e box would get past the customs guys. haha course then you would have an ilegal item and i wouldnt want to put ya in that situation. i do have a modded benjamin trail breakbarrel single shot .25 cal that i cut the barrel down to 10 inches and made the stock a pistol grip . it puts out about 20 f but ias only a single shot and then you gotta break the barrel and reload again so it is slow. but even at 20 fpe it is lethal. fits into a backpack too. haha everything else i have is at least twice as powerful upto 20 times as powerful. what are the exact laws you gotta follow. is a low powered air gun even acceptable there? @@dagger4146

@@AIRGUNZ_MILITIA There are no real restrictions on airguns here as they are not classified as firearms (Florida). On the safety aspect of things, if you live in high density housing there is a great risk of taking out an innocent person with a pass-through shot. There are several people serving lengthy prison sentences for that very reason, even though their intention was not to harm anybody but their intended target. I don't want to be 'that guy'. I have several airguns and this one just adds to the collection, plus it's fun to shoot !

well yeah i know that in florida bro, we have it good here in the states. now on that pass through note i have spent about 2k on making a inpenatrable backstop out of metal and rubber mulch about a foot thick , pretty sure it can stop aything uder 800fpe. and i dont allow firearms shot at it. my back stop is like almost 8ft high and 8 ft wide. and my shooting bench has wire to tell me where the backstop is and aint. believe me , i have been blind a dozen years now and have neighbors all around me and i do not want any of them hurt much less worse. so i am right there with ya. but if it comes down to a real situation, i gotta know what i have available to me will end a threat. even if that threat has a bullet resistant vest on. i stack bags of rubber mulch like sand bags, and have 50 gal trash cans filled with petrified wood and stone. and my own shed behind that filled with old furniture i want to turn to dust. i take the neghborhood safety to very high account. and the local pd is always invited to come point out any flaws in my setup. thanks for the concern . i think sometimes i am the only one in this neghborhood that even thinks of safety, i get people from both ends of my block sending projectiles that pass through the building i sleep in weekly. but i have not been able to catch any of them yet(the projectiles) so my backstop does doubl duty as my personal armor and personal safety. still a projectile going dink dink and telling me that it passed through my building a few feet overhead is troubleing. but the locals wont do anything unless i catch one of the projectiles , so they can run balistics. thanks againe d@@dagger4146
