Kind of surprised he didn't just remove the one that was right there in the car as a demo then edit that in. But in the demo his is still in the car so I guess he did go get another one. Maybe he stole it out of the parts car...

+Shaquille S - Why not? In some cities, not having a car is doable and even preferable (Amsterdam, eg), but in some others it's a necessity. I didn't have one for years because of repressive fines and imprisonment by the local government here (Kansas City, Kansas, USA), and in this city, you really need one. Anyway, if you are mechanically inclined, cost isn't an issue. With some effort, you can find a broken vehicle you can get going.

Thanks so much for making and posting these videos. You have no idea how invaluable this is. I get so frustrated with mechanics where I keep going back for the same issue that is not properly resolved, usually from short cuts and in most cases; for not being familiar with my car or just careless. Believe it or not those manuals can be tough to interpret even with photos. Sometimes it is the wording that can mess it up too. You make the language easy to comprehend in straight up fashion. So thank you, big time!

CHRIS! I AM IMPRESSED! As a low power tech, I was thinking you will want to use the old cable to fish in the new cable, and that is mostly what you did. The only change I would make is to leave the engine part of the cable parted as the factory did it, then pull into the existing path just through all the right spaces as the manufacturer did it. Great Job!!

Excellent demonstration by someone thoroughly familiar with solving this problem and repairing it. I just bought a 2004 Jaguar X type car with this precise problem and my mechanic couldn't solve the problem. Your demo was so very helpful, I felt compelled to express my gratitude. Fantastic job! 😊 Thank you! Now I will check a few garages and show them the video if the seem clueless or unfamiliar. Why the bloody hell did they design the car with two freaking latches tho???? Safety my Azz, one latch is sufficient, cost less all around as this it seems is a very common problem with Jaguars. Bought this car out of Japan and it was shipped here and we discovered this problem upon its arrival.

Chris, I have to say, your videos are some of the best car videos that I can find. Not to sound rude or anything, but jeeps don't have this problem. Just open the straps, lift the hood up a little bit, push the hood release lever, and just open it. The one downside to the jeep hood is that there's no spring retention system. Got to use the old fashion hood rod.

And they say maintaining a Jaguar costs thousands! Doesn't look expensive or difficult haha. I know on Hondas the cable goes inside the fender along the body and you have to pull inner fender plastic to get access.

+February 1990 and up Jaguars (or Forduars in this case) aren't made to last in the slightest. Their parts are extremely expensive, the labor is intense thanks to the stupid engineering, and it's almost guaranteed that any modern jag you see with more than 120k has been through at least one engine and two transmissions.
@helivesonforever
@helivesonforever 8 жыл бұрын
+February The parts are a lot more expensive than say a domestic car. For example, a water pump on my truck is 39 bucks. On this jaguar, it's 191 dollars plus a core charge. Compare the prices to your car on any parts store's website. Most stores won't have the part in stock, or even carry it at all.

Cake Face They are not a Honda, but they are not an italian Fiat either. My favorites are X300 and X308 bodystyles. X300 had a few small problems (mostly electrical like clock not working or power seat switches not working), but their inline 6 was very reliable as was the ZF auto. Maintenance is cheap if you do the work yourself. X308 V8 did suffer from Nikasil liners being eaten away by sulfur in the fuel and plastic timing chain tensioners breaking because bad quality plastic was weakened by engine oil. These issues were fixed after September of 2000. Compared to pre 1992 Jaguars, Ford really fixed how these cats were built. It would be a fun project car and I believe a reliable daily if you are mechanically confident and competent.

I purchased a 2005 X-Type Jaguar (Made in Britain])! It is indeed a ""Classy Car." I'm maintaining iit to ensure it'll become Historic ! This is a Good Clean Race Car that's FUN to Drive !! I Love my Jag-U-ar! And NO, It's NOT a piece of crap! Like anything else... if you can afford to take care of it -- it will Take care of You!!!

+cjmillsnun lol yes i can believe that, some people dont like the mondeo, but ive known frends have them for years, did the job. I like ford in general, well growing up with uk made fords does bias my view, and the parts are not too expensive. That cable in the jag/mondeo looks like it could be made with parts from a motorbike shop, if it was hard to get.
