Same wtf, I thought this video was a joke at first. I have never slept without one and know no one that does. It is actually really gross because you are not supposed to wash your duvet, at least not often. So all your sweat and dirt gets into the duvet. And also, duvet covers are much easier to wash and dry. And it is cheaper to buy one duvet and a few covers. Because if you have a duvet of good quality it is very expensive.

Just info The bed sheet is a fitted sheet, Flat sheets go between you and the comforter. If you get an expensive comforter like one with down, it can be expensive to get dry cleaned or be hard to wash if it doesn't fit in the washing machine. With the sheet or duvet between you and the comforter, you only have to wash the cover and sheets frequently. Also, standard pillows are like 28 inches long, queen pillows are 30, king size pillows are 36, and body pillows are about 54. I used to work retail where I stocked bedding

Also, a much easier way to put on a duvet cover is to turn the cover inside-out, with your hands in the top corners, and use those corners to grab the corresponding corners on the duvet itself, then you gotta sorta shake the cover right-ways-out onto the duvet. You'll have to stuff the bottom corners of the duvet into their corners at the bottom of the cover, and then grab them and shake the stuffing back up the duvet to ensure everything fits properly, but it'll sure as he'll be a damn sight easier than whatever the hell you were trying.

Comforters here in the US are meant to be used as is (no cover needed) and already come with patterns/designs. They are also pretty cheap around $20 - $40 and are lighter than duvet's so they can get machine washed weekly and be perfectly fine. Also here in the US people use the flat sheet underneath the comforter to sleep and that gets washed weekly.

I still prefer flat sheets w/ a comforter tbh. I live in a really hot part of the US but I like being fully covered while I sleep. You can’t really change the warmth in a duvet but, with a flat sheet, you can choose between sleeping with just the sheet or the sheet and comforter. Plus, fitted sheets, pillow cases, and flat sheets are often sold in sets here anyways

Duvets are different to comforters. Also a flat sheet is just a sheet with no elasticated corners. I usually see people in the US use a flat sheet under their comforters so they don't have to wash them so often, just the sheet. In the UK most of us use a fitted sheet (elastic corners,) on the mattress and a duvet, (different to a comforter,) in a duvet cover. The sheet and duvet cover gets washed every week. A duvet is light and airy inside because it traps air for warmth. Some are filled with feathers but most a synthetic or natural fibre filling. Their warmth is measured in "togs."
@andreacall30242 жыл бұрын
Thank you; the confusion in the video and comment section were driving me crazy. Comforters get paired with a flat sheet to protect them; duvets get paired with a duvet cover. Comforters and duvets are not the same thing.

I've grown up in the US, and I always have used a soft padded mattress cover under a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and a quilt. We have heavier, thicker quilts for the winter and a thinner cotton one for the summer. I wash the fitted and flat sheets with the pillowcases weekly and the quilts and mattress cover monthly. Never had a duvet, but I'd love to try one!
@littleboots98002 жыл бұрын
@@treelicker once you try one you'll never go back. You don't have to worry about the sheet getting separated from your comforter and tangled in your legs or anything like that. They are light because of the air in them so you can go up a few togs for winter but still keep the lightness.

There is an easy way to put your duvet cover on. My ma taught me when I was a kid. You flip the entire duvet cover inside out, then match up the corners on one end of the duvet to the corners of the inside out duvet cover. Then whilst holding the matched up corners in place, just flip the whole thing right side out again and you don’t need to worry about shaking it into place, it will all match up.

I’m pretty sure comforters having a duvet cover is optional, I mean that’s why comforters have patterns and aren’t just a plain colour. Duvet covers are for.. duvets. Like, goose down; Plain white weird fabric filled with feathers, that’s why you need a cover for it and that’s why it’s not really supposed to be washed, it messes with the feathers and they take forever to dry and are extremely heavy when wet. A comforter is just 2 pieces of fabric sewn together with some padding in between, definitely not a necessity to have a cover for it.
@VermilionNovak2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! My parents had one which I hadn’t realized until now. It was just a fancy big blanket to me, with the plain white stuffing on the inside, just like a pillowcase. All these people seem to think they should be covering their regular comforters, which are usually just filled with poly fiber batting, like a quilt. Imagine putting a cover over a quilt because you down want to wash it, so you never get to look at the design
