I have a nice 36-09 that my dad bought new at the Atlanta Sears store off North Ave back in the early 1970s. I restored it about 15 years ago, including installing brand new NOS ripper shanks obtained from Woods. It's very heavy and I don't use it as much. It is pulled by a 1969 Sears Suburban SS12 (also bought by my dad at same store)

When the blade is rotated so that the teeth are facing the 3-point hitch, it's more commonly used for back-filling (ditches, etc). We didn't use ours much for dragging that way but I suppose it could be done. I prefer rotating opposite how you did in the end of the clip. For these to be effective your tractor needs weights on the wheels and decent tread. Note that the heavier the tractor, the more compaction you get which works against you when ripping/pulling dirt.

Thanks for the vid. I just pick up a 3 footer this morning. Thanks to you I now know it's for a sears or bolens. It's a FD 36-09. I'm gonna make it fit my cub 982. Unfortunately someone welded a flat bar in the center for the top link. I'd like to make one that is just like an original for a Cub Cadet. The only problem is i don't have the measurements. I'm also going to weld on new tabs in the front for the Cub Cadet. I'm not going to cut the original ones tho. Could you please measure the center bracket that hooks to the top link and the handle on the side that's used to unlock it. That's also missing. 😒😢 Thanks.
