What is a Phase Distortion Oscillator and why is it 😎

Phase distortion synthesis is a synthesis method introduced in 1984 by Casio in its CZ range of synthesizers. In outline, it is similar to phase modulation synthesis as championed by Yamaha Corporation (FM), in the sense that both methods dynamically change the harmonic content of a carrier waveform by influence of another waveform (modulator) in the time domain. However, the application and results of the two methods are quite distinct.

I have a request or suggestion for a future video. Can you look into how to recreate/simulate Arturias Minifreaks new wavetable oscillator using the grid in Bitwig? Dash Glitch has a nice video about the new Minifreaks wavetable oscillator where he shows its features. It has a Width and Tone adjustment feature and especially the width parameter sounds really nice. I tried to make something similar but i cant figure it out. The Width parameter applies some kind of PWM or similar to the wavetable.
