Hi Sweet Friends,Today, I am starting a THREE-PART SERIES that you won't want to miss! Part 1 covers What is a Prepper Pantry, Part 2 will cover How to Stock a Prepper Pantry with Real Food, and Part 3 will cover How to Do this on $5 a Week. I have received so may emails from folks who were caught totally off-guard when this pandemic quarantine hit. They were in the process of transitioning from a processed foods kitchen to a traditional foods kitchen but never thought of creating a plan for stocking their “extended pantry”. (The 4th “corner” of the Four Corners Pantry where we keep our back-up food supply.) They shared with me that they NEVER want to be in that position again where they have so little food on hand! So, in response to those emails - and to help all of you who may have been in the same boat - but now want to implement a plan to create a “Prepper Pantry”, I have put together this Three Part Series starting today and running through Sunday. If you subscribe to my KZfaq channel but have not clicked the notification bell, be sure to do so, if you want to be notified when each of these videos is released. I really hope this series helps those of you who are knew to “Prepping” and extended pantry and hopefully I share a few helpful tips and ideas even for us more experienced preppers! ➡️Be sure to head over to my KZfaq channel’s Home Page where I share lots of organized playlists of videos that I think you will enjoy. Learned as a child always living in the country you always have stuff on hand. A half hour drive to town is a pain when you need a cup of sugar.. or get snowed in for days on end and cant get there My city slicker husband asked me when we met, what does one person need all this food for?? He respects it now. 🤣

Yes, city people don't understand! My dearest brother in laws, very first visit to our brothers farm; packed an ice chest and brought a 3 gallon borrowed water barrel / jug! Totally surprised, HEB, 11 mi and Walmart, Aldi, Two more HEB and 7 mom and pop markets into next major town 35 mi is farthest we could locate in Google! In his defense, in 4 generations, rarely would any visit out of central downtown! School field trips, not leaving the city or marginally county lines! Bless her dear heart, his sister, sent groceries! For an over week visit when she was moving. She was worried about us milking the goats or a cow for them. Too funny! But yes, out of curiosity, when asked we hobbled on older, patient and gentle natured beast; with much sweet feed cubes being hand fed and no we didn't have them drink it. It was put into animal bottles by the animal rescue person who came by. Lost art, even my grandma had lost her touch. Thank you so much, I'm learning so much, at least my parents can't complain about this hobby. Though I've yet to find advice for setting up an outdoor fireplace, for both canning or baking abd grilling all the goodies from our garden. Blessings be, lovely lady.

I prepp for this exact same reason. I take my responsibilities to my family very seriously. Part of that, for me, means having a long term food supply at home for at least 3 months. And it also means leaving resources for others in time of hardship. I love the idea of a blessing box. Just a bag of dried beans, some rice, some canned food items, some matches, etc is a great way to help others without taking from your own. I believe that is a vital part of being prepared. Also, I have an easier way to organize a shopping list for prepping. It involves the use of recipes.

I have had a "store", prepper pantry in my house most of my adult life. I live in an old house that has no room for a daily pantry so I have made a bedroom into the store. One of the things that I am working on is figuring out what can be maintained in my unheated shop. My garden is keeping my hopping now. I also have an elder widow I help. Doing both of these things makes my heart warm. She calls it earning my feathers...lol Keep up the good work

A tip for cooking. If you have an electric stove you might want to invest in a gas grill or a charcoal grill. Keep an extra propane tank stored somewhere and some extra charcoal so that way if you lose power you can still cook.

I came to the same conclusion after losing power a couple of times (electric stove) and put a grill in my side yard. In a big snow event it is too difficult to go to the backyard (due to terrain) so I bought a smaller grill and chained it to a tree in my side yard so I just have to open a sliding door to it.

I didn’t realize I was a “preper” until I watched this. My mother and my MIL always had “backups” of items they used regularly. Neither had stocks for severe emergencies but always had on hand what they knew they would use up in a reasonable amount of time. I learned from them when a canned or shelf safe item you use regularly goes on sale, stock up. I’ve been doing this for 51 years of marriage, luckily I’ve never needed the pantry for extreme emergency. But, during the pandemic when things were short and we were staying home, I had plenty of supplies to play around with and create interesting meals.

Mary, as someone NEW TO 'PREPPING,' I am a 60-year-old, disabled woman. I can walk around INSIDE my home, but when out-and-about I use a walker for stability, or an electric wheelchair in LARGE stores. I truly appreciate how in-depth you go on these issues. My mother canned like CRAZY then I was a kid, but I was NOT INTERESTED in learning. Consequently, after she passed (31 yrs ago) I sold SACKS & SACKS of jars for something like $15 or $20, and have no clue where the pressure canner went. I was an IDIOT! It truly is...one of my more 'foolish' choices. So, you and a few others are my 'TEACHERS', and I am eating it up!! I cannot afford a pressure canner right now, so I am going to do some FREEZING, and when I can get some jars...I am going to find out what things can be canned in a 'WATER BATH.' From your knowledge base, can you recommend some of these foods? Have a beautiful and blessed weekend. LUCRETIA

Just wow! I couldn’t agree more strongly Mary with everything you said about the reasons you listed as to why you prep and why your viewers should also prep. But I would also add, and you are obviously doing this already in a big way, people need to help their relatives, neighbors, friends and coworkers to prep. Then they need to help their communities to prep. After that, spiral outwards to your county, state and nation. If everyone did that, there would be no starving or homeless people in our country or in our world, not even one. God bless! 🙏🏼

For 6 years my son Felix and I have lived in a cheap rental because we are saving up for a house (2/3 saved). I think in a way we've done some of the things you talk about here on a smaller scale (small apartment). We only shop 2 times per month (I hate shopping) and when there are sales we buy what we can store and we know we'll consume within 3-4 months. That and leftovers are our system. Thank you Mary. I'm also trying not to open a credit card, for one or seldom replaced items like furniture. People I know received theirs as hand overs. I'm going to guess that for company, it's packed away in a tote? Or so air mattress on the floor or couch fold out? Sorry, if being too much.

Hi Mary! Thanks for the great video and info. 30+ years ago we didn't have the internet and it just made sense to have extra "in-case". I have lived in the south where hurricanes are considered a season, I've lived on the west coast and earthquakes are a regular thing. Now I'm back home in the mid-west with tornadoes in the summer and blizzards in the winter. Always had an emergency box with food and water. Hubby is all for the prepper pantry and our kids come to us to "grocery shop" when they are broke and between jobs. It is a blessing to be able to help.

Excellent, Mary. I saw the writing on the wall 18 months ago. Here in the UK, on top of Covid we will have the horrendous fall-out from Brexit next year to deal with. Prepping now means no panic buying, or rather, not being at the mercy of panic buyers. I love the fact that you differentiate from the word go! Between prepping and stockpiling. I also love your references to those who are really vulnerable, and looking out for elderly neighbours.

Your videos are always so important w/ information that is needed. How did you become so wise? Growing up and all through raising children, our church prepared for for these type of things......and handed out papers w/ endless information on preparing our home food storage. Now is the really first time that my family has seen a crisis w/ worldwide pandemic where I am glad my family in their different homes have been prepared. Now, there is a shortage (in our area) if home canning supplies. I’ve got the jars, but am having a hard time finding lids so I can reuse them. The shelves are empty, and I wasn’t prepared w/ supplies. Have two boxes of tomatoes and peaches to preserve w/ out the ability to can . 😬

Hi Mary, so glad to have found your site. I had been watching other prepper videos and they seem to say the same thing- stockpile "shelf stable" foods that end up to be pre-packaged highly processed foods with high sodium and sugars and artificial flavors and chemicals. And so many emphasize white rice and beans - these do last a long time but they would get very boring to have to eat often because nothing else was put aside. I was happy to see you talk about nutrient dense foods, that makes sense because if we try to eat healthy most of the time, why would we have to begin eating foods that could harm us and our immune system. I garden, do canning and freezing and cook and bake from scratch, so your site was very welcome to find. Like your idea of blessing boxes and hope that it inspires others to work together if there is someone in need. Thank you.

I’m allergic to dairy which is very challenging. Does anyone know what I can purchase that is shelf stable. I’ve looked at local stores and it seems overwhelming as to what is best. Thank you again ! I’m also listening to the video and oh yes don’t forget about the processed foods that have a lot of chemicals in them. That is very toxic to me . Yes 😂 toxic because I could start with hidden ingredients that trigger migraines etc. Fresh is best .

Thank you Mary for sharing this information. I've always kept a small 'bonus' pantry, but due to the circumstances this year, it's very much expanded. I get frustrated with the numerous preppers who advise stocking prepared foods because I wasn't raised on them and don't eat them now. The salt content alone is off-putting! I am sharing resources like yours with my church group, trying to encourage them to develop their own extended pantries. Your message at the end of this video is all about mission and ministry isn't it?

I can't count the times I've been called a hoarder; very derogatory term; and I have tried to explain the difference between being prepared and hoarding. Your explanation is short, simple and perfect. This is what I tell people. I have been posting this in many places. I apologize if you've seen it before. I have never been a fear monger. But concern for my friends and family has pushed me to practically preach this lately. People keep saying I have a month's worth of food stored up or 2 month's or even 3 or more. If things work out and calm down pretty quickly fine. I want enough stored up to hold me long enough for things I plant next spring to start producing! This is much more than you think you would need. If you say well, I'm going to can food, that's great, are you growing it? The stores still aren't stocked up from the last panic clean out. Even if you can find it to put up, that's part of the temporary!!! Jars and lids are gone around here. Do you know how to root cellar? Can you smoke/dehydrate meat, if your power goes out and you have 3 month's worth of meat to decide what to do with? Put up what you eat, eat the oldest first and replace it. Store things you like. Rice and beans, 3 meals a day for 3 months does not make for a happy table.

This is a great video... Thank you. I just started, and it's good to hear you talk about foods you can rotate. I will be interested to see how you go about this, as I have done ' food storage' before. The storable foods were goods we would never eat on a normal basis....tinned veggies for example, when we always chose as fresh as possible. So in the end it was wasted. Im looking forward d to getting to watch the videos to see what you recommend. Thank you once again for taking this time to teach.
