I get a lot of questions from my Buyers as to what a well nut is and how do you use or insert it..This video will cover all of the basic details,,

We are using a 10-24 Thread Rubber well nut with a brass insert from TXDashcovers.com..We are also using a 10-24 thread screw that is 1" long and attaching 2 pieces of 1/8" steel flat bar
This is basically an expanding nut that can be used for many applications, to include Kayaks Boats Marine Industrial, Motorcycle Automotive Industrial and much more

This is a life saver. I'm installing solar panels on my camper and I can't find anything solid to screw the mounts into. This will make it so I can hold them down securely to my roof without finding a rafter/stud.

It is amazing what people come up with. I bought some of these to use as spacers for cabinet knobs (to extend them from the door a bit more). Should work fine for my task, but I was curious what their real purpose was so thank you for showing this.

I fancy this has an application for sound/ vibration isolation: Have only a 10mm thick wood baseboard to fix to (M5.) I cannot go right through. Wish list; something similar that would just expand into the shallow hole.: stay fixed in. ( glue it in if I must) Thus: device ( electric motor assembly etc) is easily removable and re fixed ( transport)

i thought the well nut should stay in place once you pull out the bolt ... isn't it the purpose of the well nut ?

The packaging really doesn't give information related to that. But it is a soft durable pliable rubber is all I can tell you.Thanks for checking out my video's

What do u recommend for a well nut that is spinning and u can't get to it to hold it?

It depends where it’s at or how it’s installed. That can be a tough one.if you can grind the top off and knock it inside. Might be a good starting point

I am currently using well nuts on my kayak due to the fact that I can't access the hull. When screwing this in by hand, and not being able to see the hull side, how do you know when they are tight enough, or to tight when you cant see the compressed part? Also, if I remove the screw in the well nut (after a year), can they be reused or do I need to replace with new? great video, thank you

It is a little touch..You have to learn to fill the pressure and know when to stop. Find you a piece of material that is similar and practice in it first, would be my suggestion..Those of us that use these frequently.. know what that point is by practice..

You can always use somethign that tells you the torque you using,install sum like he did in the video and see about much much torque you using to fully set them,then so later when you do it like in a kayak or somewhere where you cant see it you got an idea that its set good,thats something i would do,its a feelign but also know you relying on the torque thing,takes 15 to get it full it set,maybe gl 16,hopefully get what i mean

If a hole is already premade in say a van can I put a well nut in it? I’m tryna hang some cabinets in my van and am trying to see what my options are. Thanks for your reply

@@everybodyzuncle5792 If you could find the correct size it might work, but not sure how long it would last .depends how much weight you put in it. I would use nutserts instead..they will not hardly come out at all and hold a lot of weight based on bolt or screw size

just a habit I have after being a mechanic for over 25 years..i use to wash my hands in varsol when I was younger and it seems to get in your blood over time...just practicng safety

@@QUIX4U sorry u feel the way you do, but I do have a problem with speech, being I had cancer cut out of the side of my throat..not much I could do at that point.sorry if it did not meet your expectations
