When I arrived at Gatwick wearing my sunflower lanyard I immediately got routed towards the "Sunflower lane". Unfortunately I thought I was getting separated from others for a whole different reason. But when I figured out why, I felt respected, appreciated and embraced. When I told my parents, they came close to tears.

I wear mine due to my autism and selective mutism oh and ocd and it is very handy!

I’ve had one of these for a while , but I’ve only just started using it. I have a “hidden disability” that causes a problem using disabled spaces in carparks. In reality I’m severely disabled and in a power chair but you can’t tell that until I get out the car!! Being young means that most people can get the wrong impression and may judge me for misusing the spaces. When in reality, I can’t walk a single step! I also have some communication issues and I think that the sunflower lanyard highlights the fact that I may need a bit of extra time and space. Although I love the idea very much I just don’t think it’s advertised enough and the majority of people that I know have absolutely no clue what it’s for. I hope that there will be more media campaigns to change this in the future.

I'm also autistic and type one diabetic! I used to wear the lanyard in supermarkets and the staff would find all remaining items on my shopping list if i went a bit blank. Now however so many people wear one for face mask exemption that the staff have got fed up with the scheme which is a shame.

I wear a sunflower lanyard for my autism and severe anxiety. It’s really good for letting people know that I need extra help but also I keep sensory toys on it because I have frequent meltdowns ❤

Didn’t know this originated from Gatwick. I was at the airport just yesterday and I was treated like everyone else. Even one airplane attendant was especially rude to me when I was trying to ask for clarification of something. So I thought this lanyard was only recognized in the US because I wore it for the first time at JFK like a week ago and the minute one of the staff members saw this lanyard, they immediately stopped socializing with their coworkers and personally assisted me in the crazy long, loud and hectic security line. This person felt like an angel to me. Though on my arrival back via JFK, despite our flight being two hours late, a totally different JFK staff was downright nasty and sarcastic to me when there was confusion about how to fill out the customs form. Me and everyone in the line didn’t know what to do and when I asked her why the app said to go to Lane 11 and no one was there, she was so dismissive and disrespectful. I was on the verge of having a meltdown so I just became mute and tried to keep it together. Moral of the story: some staff will recognize this lanyard and actually help you; while others might not have been trained to recognize it or choose to ignore it. Thank you for this video.

I went on holiday from Gatwick airport in 2016. Maybe if I wore one of those then I wouldn't have been charged for my new flight 2 days later after missing my plane due to bad instructions in an over congested, confusing airport.

I have the sunflower lanyard plus cards as I’m severely sight impaired and registered blind, have autism and I have epilepsy.

I live in the United States and wear the Sunflower lanyard with my medical id tag. I have low needs autism and am on medication for seizures and a skin condition that can affect my immune system and joints. I also have PTSD. My local airport here in Little Rock, AR welcomes the Sunflower lanyard and gives it out to travelers with hidden disabilities if they need assistance.

I'm going on my first international flight and first flight alone tomorrow and i'm getting myself one at the airport. I have adhd and extreme problems with new sotuations, filtering Sounds and pictures anf general orientation so i was adviced to wear one. I really hope it somehow helps because the flight is tomorrow and i've been panicking about it aince yesterday
