It is indeed rare that someone can take a topic as vast and complex as ACT and do a decent job of explaining it in under 15 minutes, without minimizing it to the point of effectively saying "ACT makes you feel better". So, this is a rare video indeed. Very Well Done!

ACT is the one thing that has been able to help me with CPTSD and flashbacks. I became very dissociative and it doesn't help to say 'well I shouldn't feel this way / experience this.' ACT has saved me countless times from myself but I'm still learning to integrate it into my toolbox.

ACT was recently recommended for me and when looking it up for some information I see YOU! I was a client of yours years ago and not gonna lie I got a bit excited to see you offering ACT. I felt very comfortable with you and although anxious for our sessions, I always looked forward to them. Thank you for being you. :)

I am responding to the comments/ reply of Ms. Kristie in the comment section of this video. Mental health is comparatively foremost than any physical injury. We can fight with physical injuries by good mental health but not vice versa. The poor mental health and psychological inflexibilities kill your living instinct, hinder your personal and professional health and mars your overall personality. I have been struggling to fight out a sort of personality disorder or say sense of idealism in my daily routine life which in the practical world is near impossible. Then how to live with the values if those are real and practically correct . Perhaps ACT may not deal with the worries about the present moment real problems. In any case the video in question by Mr Gordon is extremely helpful for people facing issues of psychological inflexibilities like me. Let's hope for the best . I am willing to share my views on this monster thing ,if the similarly placed persons want so with sincerity , understanding and requisite privacy.Good luck.

It's a well constructed video for dealing with the complex and variety of mental health issues in a concise and summarized way. This summarized video clip of ACT will help in meaningful reading of the big volumes of the books on ACT by linking the preceding textual explanation with the subsequent / following textual explanation , Otherwise it will become very difficult for an ordinary person to comprehend the concept of ACT. Would like to have more such enlightening videos.Thanks

You wouldn’t believe this Matthew but I actually begin almost all of my workshops by saying: I guarantee you, you’re already doing a lot of what we’re going to be talking about in this workshop. ACT is really focused on a “what works” approach and that means therapists have adapted all kinds of helpful things that work. Feel free to use ACT to give a formal name and structure to what you’re doing and if you create something novel, share it with the ACT community. This work continues to evolve, all the time. I’d love to hear about what you’re doing!

Can you tell me why
@chievejobs4687
@chievejobs4687 2 жыл бұрын
@@almere10 Working with ACT is what truly made me understand that I have no power over the panic. I just have to accept that it's there and not work myself up feeling hopeless about the whole situation. I still get panic attacks but my overall anxiety is way lower since I don't obsess over when the next attack is coming or how I will have to be to prevent it. I can't prevent it, I accept that it's there and an attack may come but I will save my response for when it actually does and accept it when it does instead of fighting it. It was not a quick fix, it required work but I'd say im about 90% recovered For reference I used to barely even be able to leave my apartment to do anything, shop for food, meet friends etc. Now I work full time and have normal functioning social life. I don't attribute everything to ACT (I also started working out, eating better etc) but it put me on the right path

Elaine Peltier for SOME people the spiritual material that Eckhart Tolle focuses on can be incredibly helpful. For me, spirituality made a lot of sense to me during a time that I was confused and hurt; later, science occurred to me as being a relevant focus to better understand my hurt. I still however feel that tug toward meaning making through prayer, chanting, and scripture. Spirituality is a different way of knowing and might be a useful method to transmit these ACT core processes. 🙏🏼

Thanks for putting this together for me in a video that makes more sense. The papers i've been reading for University on this therapy are very hard to understand.

Thanks for saying so and taking the time to comment! Just as a heads up, I felt exactly the same way when I was first learning ACT.

I'm exploring new therapists in my area and found a clinic that offers ACT; in fact, it was the clinic that told me about ACT. I never heard about ACT beforehand, so they gave me more information by sending me an email with this video linked in it. I have to admit it was a little hard to follow (but that might be due to my easily distracting environment right now), but I am fascinated with this form of therapy! I'm gonna give it a shot.

I love this. Someone in my mental health masters program cohort questioned how ACT would work with genogram development therapy sessions with specific clients. Sounds like a great idea!

I am currently working towards taking my BCBA exam after a Masters in Behaviour Analysis and many years previously working with trauma, and I have become super interested in ACT! Both for my own well-being and would love to study this in depth and become qualified to use to with clients. I found your video and passion so helpful and accessible which is greatly appreciated, and also love seeing part of behaviourism (RFT) being researched and applied with mental health and private events! Thank you for a fantastic video ☺️

10:54 ''Like when I instruct you to pause here for a moment, and notice that you can hear the sound of my voice. You can acknowledge that that sound is there but you are not the sound of my voice. You are separate, you're the observer of that sound, just as you are the observer of your experience.'' Wow this really puts things in perspective. Thank you so much!
