The adoption home study can feel super overwhelming when you are just starting the private domestic adoption process, but passing your adoption home study does not have to be stressful. Today we are talking with Steffany Aye from Adoption and Beyond and she will walk us through the entire process of the adoption home study process no matter which type of adoption you are using. Is it weird that the home study is not even on my radar as a concern? Finding the best placement, someone who will thrive in our unique family, is my primary and secondary concern.

Is a home study for kinship adoption the same as a home study for regular adoption. I am adopting my 7 year old nephew from Florida and I'm trying to figure out exactly how it's gonna be we already signed the stuff for Florida hes in Florida Foster care right now So I am trying to figure out if it's the same stuff for kinship as it is for normal Adoption and I happened to live in Washington

You will need a foster care home study if the child is in foster care. I recently spoke with Sarah Campbell, an adoption attorney in FL (her episode has yet to air), and she would be a great resource for you as she specializes in foster care in FL. flfamilyformation.com/

Ty I kNow the case worker in Florida said that we did all the stuff for Florida and then they're just waiting on Washington to do the home Walk through

If you have a farm, do they go in all of the outbuildings? Or are they just going into the home for the homestudy?

I don't know, but it would be worth calling to ask a social worker in your area. My guess would be that they would want to know that a baby/toddler couldn't access anything that would be dangerous without supervision. My wife's cousin is having a baby in a few weeks and they want us to adopt the baby to keep in the family since my wife and i are unable to produce children, we don't know where to start the process to get started with the adoption?

Find an adoption attorney in your area. They will be able to help you with all of the necessary paperwork and all of the requirements of your state. Best wishes to all involved.

Can you use the same home study to adopt again, after you have already adopted? It just needs to stay current?

Technically, you would need to do an update, and they would need to see how the adopted child is doing in your home. So it is an update versus doing the whole thing over again.
