Tropicalfrooploops, in aviation, ASL stands for Above Sea Level. The altitude used is generally from the sea and not from the local ground. An airplane at Denver International Airport would have an AGL (Above Ground Level) of 0 but an ASL of 5431 ft. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denver_International_Airport

this was a very good informative video Cheyenna. I'm around your parents age, I'm deaf in my right ear and hard of hearing in my left(my entire life). I grew up not knowing any other deaf people. past few years I've been trying to learn ASL for me. I feel like I missed out, not even knowing about deaf culture until recently. I'm enjoying your videos of you your brother and friends interacting. I loved the one with your grandmother especially. please do some with your parents. My mother is deaf. She went to Frederick MD School for Deaf. I loved going there as a kid!! Anyway, my moms deaf friends would love when i would act out things. Like i could give them more emphasis on a word to give the words more feelings. Like i would sign songs for them . And im used to SEE AND ASL. I also notice tho that different states have different sign or slang. . Like maybe an accent if you will,lol..... I met a woman in Georgia she was deaf and she had a few different ways she would sign . It had basic movement but maybe different style of the hands. Anyway I Love your videos.

Deaf people here in Austria use a sign language that is comparable to PSE and many of them mouth all their words with a very similar grammatical structure to spoken/written german. It makes sense that such a comparatively small community of deaf people doesn't have a completely own version like ASL but I think it would probably make communication even quicker. This was extremely interesting, I thought in the USA there is only used ASL. Thanks for the great explanation and examples! BTW I'd love to learn some basic ASL from you. Would be awesome :)

Watching you sign is fascinating. I’ve heard of the differences between ASL, SEE, and PSE, but getting an explanation with examples from someone who signs was cool. I’m glad you include sound in your videos. Not sure why, but I like hearing the soft little sounds your mouth makes as you sign (and the occasional laughter). All very interesting.

If you don't hear voices, do you realize that female and male voices are different? Female voices are higher pitched usually. How did you learn about things related to sound that you could never learn about on your own? What is the reason you move your mouth when you sign if you choose not to speak? Is mouthing words part of sign? Are you aware when you make odd noises? Do you understand how to pronounce words though or is it just guesswork if you try to talk? When you think, do you think in sign? Hearing people think the sounds of words in their heads especially when they read.

Moonwolf -gaming- ASL is NOT English, that is a common misconception. ASL has completely different grammar, syntax, and sentence structure from English. And ASL was not derived from the English language. ASL is simply a signed language that can be very easily translated into English, but it is a completely different language nonetheless.

Hi Cheyenna. You touched briefly that your parents used different languages, ASL and PSE. Did they used them consistently (you mom only in ASL and you dad only in PSE), or did both used both language? Are you proficient in both language, or do you tend to speak a mix of both? I ask the question because in the hearing world, when the parents have different mother tongue, it is recommended that each parent only used its own. That way, the kids will learn make the difference between the 2 languages.

Nice! I've been learning ASL for the past few weeks, and I'm struggling trying to find good material. A 30 days course would be really helpful.

Victor Ponce There is a “Learn ASL In 31 Days” course by someone named Rochelle. I’d give it a Google if you’re still interested :)
