What is Better for Cycling a Reef Tank: TurboStart or PNS Substrate Sauce?

Not all reef tank cycling products, or combinations of products, are the same. How do Fritz Turbo Start and PNS Substrate Sauce compare?

Tank is 3 months old with some bio load, i dosed pns sub sauce, theres sudden spike in nitrate touched 50, is this expected to first spike and then slow down? I also dosed 2 bottles cope pods and 30ml live phytoplankton for pods to grow, by the way fish n corals show no issues

No, you shouldn't expect nitrate to go up. This product contains no nitrate, and Rhodopseudomonas is actually a denitrifier, so over time you may see nitrate fall quite a bit (assuming that there is suitable anaerobic microhabitat and that all essential nutrients, trace elements, etc. available for long term growth).

@@hydrospacellc6528 thank you for the response, got bio media , sand bed aNd live rocks, let me also do an ICP test to do a full check of trace elements, dosing all for reef daily hoping it keeps trace elements in control

Another question, can i dose nopox when adding pns subs sauce? I turned off skimmer , uv for15h however my doser dumped 7ml nopox n the same day

Yes, but it will prefer the acetic ingredients to the ethanols. :)

@@hydrospacellc6528 Thank you, I understand, good or bad, this hobby evolved so quickly in last decade with lots of products, for us its about combination of multiple products/brands hoping to strike that balance and also hoping they dont know any harm when used together
