I wish to work with animals and it was psychology or anthropology I already know what's in skinners box I'm ready for the good stuff. hope I didn't sink myself.

In the beginning, following either path is fine. Usually, the more "general" anthro degree is a BA, not a BS. As you figure out which one you like more, you can focus there. You don't have to truly focus on one or the other until graduate school. Start by taking the classes that fulfill requirements on both sides. Just keep going - it will all work out!

Anthropology has no prerequisites, meaning the fact that you studied basic biology will only help you! There are all sorts of things that people do with anthropology degrees besides becoming anthropologists, professors, or teachers. I've seen people with anthropology degrees become anything from a lawyer to a chef! It's the study of humans at its base. "Related species" gets a little over-generalized for my taste, because where do you draw the line? "Our direct ancestors" makes better sense, and includes Neanderthals.

@@KinkellaTeachesArchaeology ya one has to draw the lien somewhere. Any species that can produce viable offspring with anatomically modern humans should be part I would imagine that is where the line should be drawn, but I see your point of our ancestors ( non africans humans crossing with neanderthals) making them our ancestors as well

@@KinkellaTeachesArchaeology Sorry, I'm not too educated on the subject. I mean studying human behavior by using methods developed for studying animal behavior. For example, comparing non-human primate behavior with humans.

There are two things here that you have incorrect. 1. We are apes. 2. The more similar DNA is between one species and the next, the closer they are related.

Kinkella Teaches Archaeology We are not apes, DNA of a tree is 90% similar to a human & banana is 60% & many other things on earth! So DNA doesnt say really which spices have a common ansestor so important traits are looked at such as interbread ability & brain function capability. We come from our own link but apes are stated being our cousins because of their body functional trait. But our brains are different so humans & neanderdals and denisovens are related to a common ansestor because of the ability to interbread and brain function. Right now its just a theory that people are cousins of apes but according to evidance of old history, brain size, ability of it compared to other spices and overall evolution, we have a taller type of humans in the past..Neanderdals & Denisovens also give a strong evidance of that... people are still looking for a missing link.

@@GuidetteExpert We are all apes. You are simply wrong, and the "evidence" you cite shows that you do not understand biology or science. It is completely obvious that humans are apes (look at your own hands). People who argue that they are not apes are either ignorant of biology or pushing an agenda. I recommend reading the book "Why Evolution is True" by Coyne - it does an excellent job of explaining evolution. So does any introductory textbook in Biological Anthropology. After reading any of those books, or watching the excellent "Cosmos" series with Neil DeGrasse Tyson, it should be much clearer.
