Not in my life, but someone I have always admired is Frederick Douglass. He had such strong convictions. He was willing to be hated by both white and black America in the heat of the civil war for standing for truth and for what right. He has many famous quotes but one of my favorites has to be, " I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence".

I know that this is going to sound ironic, but Tom Hiddleston is actually one of the people that I admire. He has a very strong work ethic, is genuine, sincere, and makes whomever he is interacting with feel special.

One thing that struck a cord with me specifically from this lecture was the unwavering commitment to living by a moral code. The Mandalorian in it's earlier episodes had me fixated by the show for just that reason. It was the moral code of the Mandalorian's people to never show their face to another soul as part of their code. To me the people show unwavering commitment to their beliefs are ones that I find enthralling to listen to and fascinating to watch act in their day to day lives. Thank you for bringing up this point of the code and giving me words to describe my thoughts.

One of my favorite examples of someone with great character is Isaac the son of Abraham. His heartfelt story is found in the "book of Jasher"chapter 23 starting around verse 60. In the face of death, Isaac willingly and wholeheartedly prepared himself to be a Living Sacrifice in order to please his God. ( thanks for the upload of this very important message to the world. It's saddening though how few have ears to hear

Would love to see a break down of DAVE CHAPPELLE’S comedic “talks”. Ive had friends identify and comment that he was communicating in a pure comedic way, others say it was just a normal down to earth conversation and others described it as just a Ted talk. All of them have one thing in common, he had their full attention.

There was a time, when you had 'good moral' characters and the 'evil villains'. Nowadays there is a preverse trend turning that arround and explore the evil traits. Good is dull/bad and bad is exciting and good.

The concept of integrity is has been flipped on its head in our world. I like what Martin L King said in his I have a dream speech. An individual should be judge by the quality of his character and not on physical attributes. What an individual is when no one is looking is the true character. Will you do a video on John F Kenny's speeches. He is inspiring to me because of the way he broke away from his family's past and became an icon for future. generations.

I was once told by a professor I am a 'model' among thousands. I asked him what that meant. He shared the students in our class often look to me for approval during discussions. 'They value your opinion and support,' he said. I had no idea this was a thing. He added, 'you are the kind of person I would want to place in a room with a large group of children and watch as each one submits to imitating you.' I reflected afterward and was humbled. I do notice now how people change their behavior when I am in or enter a room. It's the same effect as if a mother is in or has entered a room. Everyone behaves. Haha! I'm guessing it's my character making this happen.

My father. If i had one word to describe him it would be justice . I really got inspired by that and as i grew older i saw his actions clearer and realised how much my father stood for justice and is probably respected because of that despite a very hard childhood and alot of hard desicions he had to make i never saw him put his ego or anything else above justice . And i always ask my self will I be able to achive this level.

There's a huge elephant in the room: what's a good moral code? Loki's moral code might be serving only himself - which is certainly a code one can live by but just not a good one. So while committing to a code is important, we need to listen to ourselves and see where our moral code might be wrong or where we're inconsistent and then correct our moral code so that it's correct. Without a true moral code, we can commit to falsehoods and lead others down the same path towards destruction ie. that which suffocates and ends life instead of inspiring and bringing about new life. Good character: King David in the Pslams.

It's a good point but I don't think it's an elephant in the room since the list of virtues spelled out in the video are the precise ones I was using to explain it. If there's a moral code spelled out in the video, that's it. But, I didn't invent those. I looked at a cross-section of explanations out there about what good character meant and those are the ones that kept coming up: trustworthy, respectful, fair, compassionate, loyal, honest, grateful, gracious, forgiving, etc. These are clearly drawn from the Judeo-Christian tradition that assumes there is an objective standard. Loki fails all of the tests on that list. Based upon this list, I don't see how committing ourselves to falsehoods should be much of a concern. It should be a self-correcting exercise. For example, if we are truly honest and value honesty, the act of committing to falsehoods and leading others to destruction is the least likely outcome. But, the issue of King David is an interesting one. He was a man of great faith but was also a known liar, murder, and adulterer. He made many morally awful decisions. The only reason we consider him a role model is his continual pursuit of God and his repent heart. Nevertheless, the list in the video is a high standard that most humans will fall short of. It's one of the reasons I'm encouraged that graciousness and forgiveness are on the list.

@@alexanderlyon Hello Coach Alex! I completely agree with your moral code. I did not mean to say that your video was void of a correct moral code. I wanted to highlight explicitly that it is also necessary to select a correct moral code. Every now and then, we need to take off our moral code glasses to inspect it, clean (correct) it and even celebrate it! You are correct about King David, it wasn't his ordinary flaws that we celebrate but that we ought to imitate his humility before God and repentance from those sins.

bad character reflect self and sometimes even do good noble things in public to promote self, they like to talk about themselves. Good character is the opposite.

@@alexanderlyon Amen. The monolitchic speech is a pillar of integrity of historic proportions. What would be super fascinating in that is he had reason to be nervous or worry about what he was saying but good about it from a personal integrity standpoint. Ive often wondered how those two kinds of nervousness are distinct and whether or not they would manifest in tone and demeanor in distinct ways. Anyway.. God bless you and your work. And thanks 🙏🏻 👍🏻

Stan Lee spoke a lot about that over the years. Too detailed and nuanced to unpack in a response here but he wanted to create characters that had struggles so readers could relate to them. He wanted readers to feel like, despite their own flaws, they could become great too.

My Husband inspires me. He has developed Godly character by praying over/reading/memorizing God’s word and it truly guides his thoughts and behaviors. We visited churches when we moved to a new area and at one church the worship pastor joked about telling a white lie to the senior pastor’s wife (to keep them out of a surprise party the congregation had planned). This really bothered my husband and we didn’t attend there. Little things matter.

So then, why is it that people who are very good looking, mostly are arrogant or acting like there where responsible for their appearance, because they are not ( despite those who had plastic surgery of course ) or being proud to be born in a certain country, cause nobody can choose their birthplace right, so how can they be proud of something which they are not even responsible for ?

My guess is that they are like that because of the society we live in where good looks are valued above good character. Same with where one comes from when in reality that shouldn't matter at all. People who think they're better than others because there good looking are very shallow and I pity them. They're probably very insecure deep down and acting like twats to get validation for their existence.

Peter Parker "Spiderman" has good character, he's just like Steve Rogers, but he is innocent because he's a teen age boy. If anyone in the Marvel Universe is of unconditional good character, it's Peter Parker. Another beloved fictional character the has good character is Luke Skywalker. Luke lives by a moral code, and he inspires hope. Luke always took the righteous moral path. It's always option #3 with Luke.

I was walking on a tightrope with you, eh??? You don't have to like her to respect how far she's come. I'm not sure how much you know about how she grew up but it wasn't a great start. Her mom was a teenage. No dad in the picture. She lived in the middle of nowhere in Mississippi for a while in abject poverty. Now, by some reports, she's the richest person in Hollywood. You can think what you want about her. I think she has grit.

I've been practicing reading people for the last 4 years or so and I like how we basically have the same mind. It's nice to stumble onto someone's page and see what I've been learning from someone who is substantially more bon a fide than I am. But that I too could be as investigative and bonafide perhaps in time. Appreciative.

Thanks for your comment, Stem Careers, but What!? No way! Ha. He's super humble, the opposite of arrogant. He knows what he stands for but those principles are bigger than him. He was the same way when he was punny before he took the super serum. But, there's great danger is getting me talking about superheroes. I could go on and on for hours about it. Ultimately, you're not really wrong either because each viewer/reader has their own valid interpretation. For example, I think Batman is the most overrated of them all but clearly most people disagree with me because his movies always do really well.

Hi, Batya. I've been asked many times to make videos reacting to Trump, Biden, etc. But, my channel isn't politically focused. I'll make some videos about Presidents from years ago (like the Reagan Space Shuttle video) and I have one planned for JFK's moon shot speech. But, I doing videos about politicians who are still in the game wouldn't be fun for me. Granted, your suggestion would probably make my channel triple in size but I have to stick to my roots as a teacher and focusing on current politicians would focus it too much on the person themselves and would forever change the nature of the channel. Your suggestion isn't bad, though. Thanks for the comment.
