We find in Scripture several examples of believers struggling with doubt. The Scripture gives us permission to grapple with doubt in a direct and honest way. God is not offended by our doubts. Rather, He wants us to fully learn to exercise our faith and trust in him.

It is so true that our church in the past has pushed people's doubts aside and made them feel evil for questions that they have. I am a student pastor and I encourage my students to ask questions, voice their doubts on what I say or what thejr parents say about God. Because I believe the Bible can withstand their questions and give them answers to have confidence in! It is so important for this young generation to do this and feel they can or they will get their doubts addressed at university in the wrong way and have them leave gheir faith because we did not provide a space to let them question and help search them in the Word through the Holy Spirit for the Answer. Great video!! Thank you for it!

One day I was reading about after the miracle of the bread and fish, and when the disciples we all "we forgot the bread" jesus is all "are you still with understanding?". Like they saw him multiply the bread and they are worried about not having bread. If they missed it then I don't have to feel so bad when I miss it. Good word yall.

I have been up and down in my faith many times. But the longer I remain in Christ, the more I shift my trust in my own faith to the faithfulness of God. Something in my heart tells me, one day, God is going to do something to me and to my life that I don't have to doubt anymore. He is the author and the finisher of my faith. Whatever work He has started in me, He will surely perfect it.

I always had doubts when I was a Christian. I distinctively remember one night when I let go some of the fear I had and started researching and studying some of the particular topics that was causing me doubt in my faith. Needless to say, I'm still on my journey. I'm finally free to live my life the way I want without fear of eternal punishment and damnation. My doubts lead to my deconversion, which lead me to start experiencing the richness that is life itself. 💜

I think there's a human element that causes doubt when it comes to the Bible or God or Jesus, and it's this, our minds simply cannot comprehend Him. When we try, our human reasoning comes short and we doubt. Is that wrong? No! How can it be? In Isaiah 55:9 God says of Himself, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." I think He fully realizes we will have our doubts, but one of the wonders of God is, rather than pushing us away because of those doubts, He invites us in to discuss those doubts with Him. And while we may never understand Him fully He lifts us up into something higher. We see this in Ephesians 2:4-6, "But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and He raised us up and SEATED US TOGETHER IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS." Beyond all doubt God says, "You are My son, My daughter, and THIS is your home.

Sometimes I doubt God can take away my worries and troubles. How can He when they’ve happened and to torture my mind? It seems like the only way I’ll be free is when I go to heaven and God cleanses me of all my memories of sin. Just as the faith of a mustard seed will move a mountain, the doubt of a mustard seed will not. When you have returned to God there can be no doubt. God is real. How can you doubt God who you know now is real?
@BasedZoomer
@BasedZoomer 2 жыл бұрын
I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but if ever I doubt, it's never "maybe God isn't real" (although I've had that flash through the back of my mind for just a second, I simply can't believe that there is no God). My doubt almost always takes the form of "do my prayers even matter? Does God even hear me? Does He even care?" Really most of my doubts end up being self doubts and self depreciation, like "even with Jesus sacrifice, there's no way God would love me." Sometimes doubt takes the form of the urge to believe in works based salvation "I'm still so sinful, there's no way I'll make it to heaven" "doesn't Jesus' sacrifice seem too good to be true?" I guess my overall point is to show that doubt doesn't necessarily mean doubting God's existence, but can be many number of questions or doubts.

You cannot yell at a God who doesn't exist. Its okay to get angry with God for the most part. Pretty sure He can take it! The primary word for doubt in the New Testament is διακρινω (diakrino). The word has many usages/meanings. Doubt is the 5th or 6th definition of the word in BDAG. At its core it is about evaluating things and telling the difference. People who take faith seriously are going to doubt. I would be more concerned about the depth of faith of someone who never doubted than someone who had/has.

Doubt is normal, healthy and not my enemy. If we deal with it with the help of the Holy Spirit through the Bible and with the help of mature Christians, we will learn to deal with it, by faith, every time it comes into our lives (and it will come many times!). It's not easy, but it's posssible and it will make us grow spiritually and maybe help others with the same questions. Ignore, suppress, or dismiss religious doubts can be one of the biggest mistakes in our lives. Dealing with it with the help of God is one of the greatest and most beneficial challenges of faith.

People of the Old Testament had a very primitive concept of God. To them God was a supernatural being who punished people with famines, earth quakes, diseases, floods and death. He was a patriarchal God who hated women and rejoiced when men killed them for been disobedient. Jesus came along and changed that by reminding people about a God as an abiding concept of love, forgiveness and compassion. And Jesus then reminded us that the kingdom of God is within each one of us. A far cry from the fundamentalist brand of Christianity practiced by Christians to this very day who think that they know God's mind . A question that almost every philosopher from time immemorial to this day has asked is even if there happens to be a God somewhere out there in the unknown, how would any fallible human know who this God is, what he/she/it thinks, looks like, acts and even talk? There are 2 books I love reading and they were written by two Christian intellectuals. ' The quest for the historical Jesus, by Albert Schweitzer, and ' Honest to God, by John A. T Robinson, who reminded Christians that its more important to heed the message Jesus preached on compassion, rather than wasting time believing in a God who intervenes in human affairs, when we know that such a being does not exist.

Doubt in the Bible is not from God. Doubt is a negative energy, sin. Doubt stagnate the soul from producing seeds in Christ. Did you notice in the Gospel of Mark how the disciples did not understand or agree with the message of Jesus about the Kingdom of God. They doubt God Almighty and his love?

From my experience, people lack faith by taking literally Jesus' words, " And He said to them…. “for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you (Matthew 17:20) People think it is the outer world that causes their problems so if they could change the outer world, then they would be happy, so that is what they ask God for. It's our inner world, our mind that holds the false ideas that cause us problems. So when we ask for our minds to change, metanoia, in the New Testament, forgiveness and repentance, then our minds are corrected and truth replaces false ideas, love replaces fear and joy replaces self-sacrifice. Matt 12.7

I have no doubt that there are lots of Christian Homosexuals who are hiding in their closets while calling out of the closet Gay people sinners. Jesus called them hypocrites who should first remove the log in their eyes before looking at the speck of dust in the eyes of others. 🤩

Who, in Christianity, will fix this? (long, but very relevant & timely post) Atheist: there is no God. Christian: God created everything. Atheist: then who created God? Christian: God always was. Atheist: the Universe always was. Christian: No. God created the Universe. Atheist: then who created God? ....and 'round and 'round it goes. What would Frank say? He didn't. or did i miss something? Another Gigantic problem in Christianity to day is: 1. a Christian writes a book on how Christianity is true. 2. a Skeptic writes a rebuttal-book. 3. the Christian does NOT out-argue or disprove the skeptic. They avoid. They stop. Instead--- 4. some NEW apologist will come along, and not disprove this last skeptic, either. He/she will simply write a new book, RE-stating how Christianity is all true, all over again. Some years back, Christians had LEE STROBEL. Then, Robert M. Price writes "the Case AGAINST the case For Christ" -- but-- WHO WILL DISPROVE Price?!? Instead...(drum roll please)...meet J. Warner Wallace (did i get his name right?). Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, he hasn't said squat about Robert M. Price. But here he is, the latest "new apologist" saying how its all true, all over again. . .and the cycle repeats. Also, WHO WILL WRITE the point-by-point counter-rebuttal to Bertrand Russell's "Why I Am Not a Christian"?!? Avoidance isnt an answer. There are people far, far more qualified than me, to do this. I have read the entire New Testament, but have NO degree in Theology, History or New Testament Studies. The skeptics still need to be counter-argued, not avoided. In the meantime, more people leave the church. . .its the UNANSWERED QUESTIONS that are the big reason for "deconstruction" and falling away. NOT "the Enneagram", (good gaawwwd!! why is anyone at all WASTING 5 seconds of time on youtube at all, saying anything about this, other than: "it has nothing whatsoever to do with Christianity! TELL them that. Then Move On!) ...Neither does "understanding the Black expereince" (or even the white experience). Not Poverty. Not Racism. Not social justice. These are all new side-distractions. The Church is not your state capitol. Many so-called "issues" today never were the Churches job and still aren't. People want answers. They want to know that their Faith can and will and does stand up to skeptical objections - not to just be told in a new book or youtube video that its all true (again) and ignore the skeptical critiques...i.e...Price, Russell, Sam Harris, Dan Barker. Who will SHOW that they are wrong? Copy/share this post freely. Permission granted.

You can't make a case for it or against it. That's why I lean more towards agnosticism. However its absurd to believe that a supernatural deity that's all powerful and compassionate can reign over a pain filled world such as ours. If there was such a being then this world would have been a vastly different place to what it has always been since life evolved 4.5 billion years ago. I feel that a belief in a God has all to do with the indoctrination you receive as a child and nothing more.

Doubting can cause the World to Fall. Just ask Eve how a simple conversation did just this. Asking questions is one thing. Moving in Faith when your physical senses tell you otherwise is another.
