Hi Captain, great easy summary. What if you are flying on a non-edto route and an airspace that you are routed through is closed off. The only way to get to your destination is via an EDTO route. Can you change to this routing in-flight? What are your other considerations? Thank you!

First of all, your aircraft needs to be certified to fly an EDTO route. Most airlines will plan for EDTO routes and will only plan for non-EDTO routes if the aircraft,crew and airline is not rated for EDTO.

Captain can you explain why we do not divert when fob is less than fuel required at cp?

Fuel is planned for worst case scenario at cp.

Captain, i just did my endorsement flight. Would like to ask for your guidance as to what should i prepare next other than reading the SOP? Did a class regarding EDTO but it was challenging for me to understand and so it resulted to me watching this video and i still feel so stupid 😢. Any recommendations/pointers that you could share Captain?

Hi congrats on your endorsement, reading tje SOP is a good start. I would start with the FCTM. It seems to be alot to take in at first. But with time, effort from you and guidance from instructors and peers, you will get the hang of it. The best is getting advice from senior pilots. All the best, you got this.
