thats probably because they dumbed it down a whole lot and tried to stay as simple as possible with the whole "good and bad thing". basically we need both saturated and unsaturated fats to an extant but in some circumbstances (that are becomming more and more common with nowadays) saturated fats can be more harmful than unsaturated. they just chose to keep it less complex than the real world, like schools also do. im pretty tired that you have to go to alternative education to get real information, that isnt too distorted with simplicity.

Would be good to have a video on the health differences between monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats, if there are any.
@bouncingbeebles
@bouncingbeebles 3 жыл бұрын
There is an overwhelming body of evidence that fails to establish that saturated fatty acids are bad for us. On the other hand, polyunsaturated fatty acids are prone to oxidation, and oxidized molecules inside your body can trigger many different kinds of chronic disease. Trans-fats are especially prone to oxidation, which is why they are appropriately labelled as 'bad' but in fact no polyunsaturated fats are immune to oxidation. Any polyunsaturated oils will oxidise over time, and cooking them, particularly at high temperatures, will intensify oxidation.

Awesome video! It's really accurate! **There could have been some details describing how the shape of the fat determines it's phase; solid or liquid. Since saturated fats have no double bonds (thus no "kinks"), they can pack their fatty acid tails on top of each other more neatly and thus most of them are solids at room temp. However, the double bonds in unsaturated fats make "kinks" which interfere with the packing of fatty acid tails, thus most unsaturated fats are liquid at room temp.

Great video. Except, there is no evidence for saturated fats being unhealthy and a growing set of evidence for vegetable seed oils (unsaturated) being unhealthy. Olive oil is still healthy though, unless you heat it up. Vegetable fruit oils in other words are OK. Seed oils like canola oil and soy beans oil is bad.

I agree, this guy probably made it easier for people who don't study biochemistry, biology, or chemistry. It's about moderations. Saturated fat is useful since they are harder to break, but in the modern day, food is very available for lots of us, so we don't have to worry about keeping food in our body that slowly releases energy for a long time. We eat a lot, and we don't want to look fat or be fat, so nowadays, unlike humans from thousands years ago, we want faster energy that uses up and is gone fast, and we eat more often (sugar, starch, carbohydrates).

For your statement to be valid dropping carbs must be the only independent variable. The fact that you consciously made the decision to do so means you want to lose weight. Chances are when you want to lose weight you don't only change one thing in your diet. I don't know exactly what you did but the logical assumption is that dieting people would tend to exercise more and lean towards foods and ingredients that are "healthier": things with less calories, sodium, sugar, etc.
@williefleete
@williefleete 8 жыл бұрын
flameeagle123 not necessarily, I dropped most carb loaded stuff and still mostly sat on my arse (taking stairs and walking every so and often) and lost more weight doing that than the traditional (carb heavy) diet and exercising.
@crzykd1305
@crzykd1305 8 жыл бұрын
+flameeagle123 studies have been done and carbs are the main thing to cut down on when losing weight, look up Mark Haub and the convenience store diet, to prove a point to colleagues and for the sake of a study he took up a junk food diet, to prove that so long as he avoided carbs he would lose weight, and he did. It ofc ignores the other ill effects this could have on your body, but as far as weight loss goes, carbs are what you want to control.
@sketchsama
@sketchsama 8 жыл бұрын
When it comes to losing weight, it all comes down to a calorie deficiency. Carbs are great to control because while they are a great source of energy, they aren't needed the same way you need fats and protein. That doesn't mean you should drop carbs from your diet. Nowadays, people eat multiple times the amount of protein their body needs, way too much carbs and not enough healthy fats. Eating too much carbs, fat or protein still has consequences that come with it. I believe that, when it comes down to your overall health, a healthy balance is needed.

Considering how he talks about the Cis/Trans Unsaturated Fats later on, the Double-bonds lock the atoms in the bonding, whilst Single-bonds basically act as an axle for the atoms to spin on. This lets Single-bonded atoms freely alter their part of the 3D structure so 2 chain sets with the exact same number of atoms and connections can result in 2 different structures when puled into a 3D shape.

But Why FDA allows to put 0.5gm/serving, the serves are in different amounts ... They are an agency!! And not only an agency (the world depends on them). They should be more precise for example 0.5gm/500gm of the food.

Olive oil is also not eaten directly from the bottle like lemonade, it comes in indirectly, through the food made in it. I always bask everything in a generous dollop of olive oil when i fry.

Why do people think gay is an insult, and why is a rainbow so closely associated with the term? I get that its used as a logo and all but it just seems... flamboyant to me which kind of counterproductive considering we discourage stereotypes.

+Black Boy Plant based saturated fats are healthier for you than Animal based saturated fats. The fatty acids palmitic and stearic (found in animals) increase LDL's (low density lipoprotein) while Lauric and Myristic acid (found in Plants) increase total cholesterol but is predominantly HDL (High density lipoprotein) the healthier cholesterol.

+Cassandra McLean It is actually healthy for you. A short explnation would be that it's chain is short thus get readily absorbed by the body in wich the energy is used right away. So saying that you are doing an activity would mean that the fat is not stored. There are other reasons as to why it is good. Try researching legitimate scientific based websites or books.

@EnidoxMusic
@EnidoxMusic 10 жыл бұрын
TexasKing100 Steak is nearly always eaten with butter or chips (fries) Pork is served with unhealthy sauces. Wings. WINGS? Please inform me about a time you ate wings without a sauce/dip/coating, or other things beside that. Pretty much all meat, especially in developed nations where fast food is eaten very often, is served with something else which makes it unhealthy. Sorry for that rant :)

I think in our time today, it might seem that way, but believe me that it's not. I mean, have you ever tasted a slice of raw cake made of nuts and fruits topped off with frozen servings of strawberries, blueberries, cranberries and drizzled with some peanut butter? Or perhaps a quick serving of some chia pudding?
