Enjoying your videos and the content. A colleague of mine in work has been looking for a tidy M140i since I bought mine a year ago so we’ve been looking at second hand prices for these cars. They have dropped slightly in value but still selling for upwards of 20k for a good low mileage unmodified example, so not much less than I paid for mine last year. Also regarding insurance, mine went up from £500 to £650 this year but after shopping around I managed to get insured for £300 so very pleased with that. Keep up the good work.

I just bought one on Friday and I love it. I replaced a 987 Cayman, as I need the rear seats. I was horrified that the insurance was over twice as much. Love the car though. It’s 7 or 8 tenths of the Cayman on a b road, but a million times better for the every day stuff that I use the car for 99 times out of a hundred. Love your channel. Wish I’d found it before buying and held out for some memory seats as the wife and I have extremely different driving positions. Gonna save up for some of that Bilstein loveliness too thanks to your side by side video.

Hi Reg, good video and some interesting thoughts. By and large I agree with you. Personally I don't really care too much how much mine is worth. The car is just right for me and I've been through a lot of quick cars over the years. Lovely B58, Birds suspension now which work on the twisties and comfy and reasonably acceptable economy on a run. And room in the back for the dog. Anything newish with a B58 in is just silly money IMO. So like you I'm keeping mine.

Regarding the insurance, mine went up a bit but not by a huge amount. I still don't see the sense in selling a car and making a huge loss because of the insurance going up when the amount that you lose due to the value dropping is considerably more than you would pay extra on the insurance. It isn't just m140i's which have risen on insurance either, everything has gone up so you will still end up paying more on your next car, especillay if it is slightly out of the ordinary.

Coincidently I was told today that my 21 year old nephew just last week sold his as his insurance went through the roof on renewal. £3K +. His insurance in Sussex 10 times higher than mine as an old-ish bloke in Devon. It's a 350 bhp rear wheel drive car with an open diff which you've gotta be careful with and give it a bit of respect. So if there's a whole bunch of people in the same position as my nephew, with limited driving experience due his age, and the insurance companies have seen a bunch of younger people crashing them as they've been relatively cheap to buy, can you really blame the insurance guys? IMO the price of M140s will go up as the insurance and secondhand car market settles down. I remember my E46 M3 was worth bog all 10 years ago. Now look at the prices for a half way decent unmolested one.

I had been quoted double what I paid last year so i shopped around for cheap insurance and found one were IAM paying about the same as I did last year so that not a big problem second if I were to sell my car I wouldn't put it on a advertising platforms such as Facebook.

Glad I sold mine when I did. They became attainable to a wider/younger group and all are now modded so lowers value.

Insurance as you pointed out, also generally these cars are lusted after by younger more excitable people so Insurance will be hurtful but its also a car thats coming up to 5 years old and people want modern interior and tech, they may also be getting either a more practical car or going for full M cars. Personally I loved my m140i but that was four years ago and people needs and wants change in that time

2.8k for insurance yet stage 2 scirocco is 1.4k with mods listed. Someone explain this logic?

Too many Muppets in the car scene now. Most of them haven't a clue about cars and follow the sheep on Social Media. The only people damaging M140 prices are the owners themselves 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve also noticed lots on Auto Trader, 300+ with a narrowed search! Too many are modified. Instantly gives you thoughts of some 22 year old moron driving round Tesco car park on and off the throttle with a snap, crackle and pop map 🙄 That’s the other thing that puts me off. They’ve become the modern day Vauxhall Nova! 🤦🏻‍♂️
