my car doesn't have abs, so i am not ready for this problem
@JerryWalker00110 сағат бұрын
I have a BMW 335D X drive and I also had a host of codes appear although this was due to rodent damage on my engine wiring loom. I posted a video (jerry walker) showing the cause. I use a really nice scanner called a Launch 2. It reads the VIN and then connects to the internet to find what options are supposed to be fitted so it knows what to scan for. I used it to clear the codes and it works really well. It also creates reports based on the stored codes and has detailed explanations on what each code means.

The little triangle with the ! Is the check control warning. It comes up for all sorts of reasons. The ABS rings used to be an issue on the previous generation of 1 series. The shafts swell up and push the toothed ring into the sensor. If the end of the ABS sensor is worn, you need to do driveshaft work. Don't bother with Carly, just get BimmerLink as someone else said, and a Bluetooth adapter for about £20. It would also work with torque
@roadreg182023 сағат бұрын
Oh wow. Sounds like it’s still an issue on the F21’s. I really hope I don’t need a new drive shaft this time, and it’s just a worn sensor. Thanks for the advice and information!

@roadreg1820 I've had the same issue in my 320d. It's usually a wheel speed sensor. Best to get diagnostic machine that can read abs codes. If you don't wanna buy one just get a diagnostic from a garage. Or you could test the wheel speed sensors with a multimeter.

Idling is mostly fine (as long as your cooling system can handle it, see hot summee's day), BUT don't use it as a means of "warming up" the engine before ragging on it. Idle warm-up is uneven, unlike part-load warm-up, which will set you up with the wrong clearances in some places. Not a good way to get to redline...

I recently discovered that Dynamite is a very impressive tire cleaner. My tire sidewalls were brownish, I used AF Verso APC at 20%, AF Imperial wheel cleaner at 20% and BH Surfex HD at 10% dillution ratio - each was a step stronger than the previous one, but the sidewalls, although now very clean, remained slightly brownish. Then I remembered I had a little bit of AF Dynamite at 10% ratio somewhere in my closet. So I just tried it to see and to my surprise the brown substance started to melt right away. Repeated few times and the tires finally got black. Even started to smell new and fresh again lol. Nevertheless, a genuine surprise for me. I thought BH SFHD was unbeatable but in this niche corner it was surpassed. Cheers
