I read that he was blue due to being poisoned by Demoness. The blue shade he is depicted as is very pale , not dark .

It was originally celebrated with water that finally we get to touch or go into the water due to summer arrival Later on people started adding color to the water to make it colorful and now Water has completely gone. Only color powder has left.

Holika like anyone else wasn’t naturally fire retardent hahaha she had a special cloak/chunni that was fire proof and she wore that and sat in the fire with prahlad. Vishnu ensured that the cloak shifted from her to Prahlad and that’s how he was saved and she burned alive.
