"Language first developed 100K years ago." Did it? How do you so clever people know this? How did it develop? So many assumptions presented as knowledge & truth.

That jumped out at me too. It's been a few years now since I studied biological anthropology, but I do remember that nobody seems to know exactly when or why language evolved, and there is a wild abundance of theories.

I have read the idea that learning a skill such as making stone tools takes longer if you just watch without any feedback from your teacher. It is argued that language must have existed in order for this to be done effectively. The speed of the spread of technology is then used as a clue that language must have been part of the mix. I suspect this linking of technology spread is what gives an approximate date. I am sure I have read a suggestion that homo erectus had at least a basic language. Like "no! You idiot" this way up" " kids today!"
