I love this quote also from bell hooks. It's a nice, concrete definition of what love is. I'm going to use this as a guideline to know whether I'm loving myself. “Love is a combination of care, commitment, knowledge, responsibility, respect and trust.”

I haven’t watched this yet but Alecia you’re honestly amazing. I have been on my healing journey for a few years & this the last half of last year I decided I needed to rest, be gentle & give up the struggle life because it was getting me nowhere. since september I have grown so much. I came across your videos & they have helped me A LOT!! you are so gentle, loving & caring & I aspire to have your calm nature. you have helped me & inspired me as someone who was born & raised in to trauma & deciding that it stops with me. I turn 30 this year & I told the universe that if my life is the same then I’m going to end it. life being life of course has been throwing traumatic events at me since the year started but I no longer have the energy to stress about what I can’t control. anyways thank you for your life.

I truly enjoy watching your channel, you are an inspiration. I would like to apologize to you for all those people who made you think God's love is based on a conditional love. His love e is unconditional, no matter what. He sees our short comings and loves and shows us grace and mercy. He will never remove His love from us.❤ God's love is full of grace and allows us to grow and become into what He's truly made us/our spirit to be, the true essence of what he created us to be. You are so very worthy of love. D.Elaine ❤🩶🧡🩷❤️🤎💜🩵💙💛💞💕

I’m on this same journey at 34. I learned recently that I talk about self-love but I’m still on the old operating system, that did not love myself. I’m going to talk about that today on my podcast. Thank you for the guidance as I go on this journey to true self-love. It’s long overdue.

This is on time. Im currently grieving from deciding to cut my "family" off. They bread crumb me and talk about me in my face. Only God knows the extent of whats said in my absence 😢 but when I return the energy guess who's the victim? It hurt so much and it's scary in the world we live in to not even be able to count on those we're related to. But they got me so fkked up forreal. Great video

Thank you, Alecia, for sharing. As a male, I’m learning that I am part logical, practical, and emotional. For me, all three are required for me to be authentically me…always focusing my attention outwardly to others but never focusing inwardly to tend to my emotional needs…lack of self love. Keep inspiring! Godspeed.

Alecia, I really resonate with this message of love from you. I truly didn't see myself as attractive or special or loveable until my 30's and since then, I've learned so much about why I felt and thought about myself the way I did. Keep bringing out the things we need to talk about

You touched on so many things, that wow.. def need a moment and hug 🫂 💔 love to me is about consideration, celebration, gentleness, protection, nourishment and reliability/consistency.. i wonder how you all perceive love from god/source/universe if bad things happened to you/the world…it Immediately takes away the protective aspect of love, and a concept i struggle with understanding…esp from a being/thing that is all knowing… it makes me lean more into the ideology of we are all the universe experiencing itself, rather than a being overseeing Anyway though, slient watcher, love your content and you sharing this journey☀️☀️☀️❤️❤️❤️❤️☀️☀️so much love💕

We will learn to love - to love GOD, love ourselves and others - by The GOD of LOVE and The Word of GOD. To believe bell hooks or M. Scott Peck has the true answer about love while putting down The Word of GOD because of human interpretation is not the way. Yes, Christians (as flawed, sinful human creation) have gotten The Word of GOD VERYwrong throughout the ages. That has nothing to do with The truth of who GOD is. Seek GOD for yourself to know love. Seek GOD in the WORD and in communion with GOD. Don’t minimize Its truth or power or anything found in it “because of people.” The Word of GOD is living and It is THE truth. It is there that you (and I) will find all we need to know about love. There is the answer. Peace and blessings. Love.

...I don't understand. I never put down the word of God. I actually used scripture to help define love.... I also believe that God is big enough to handle my questions and confusion. God is not intimidated by my questions. God also gave us people to help put language to love, to care for one another, to teach us. We have God, but we also have teachers, doctors, lawyers... peoplewho God works through. Why couldGodnot work through them...? Does God not work through people? I can love God and criticize God's people. Even if the criticism is about love. I can honestly say that some stories in the Bible do not sound very loving to me. That's just my humble and honest opinion. I'm not going to lie to keep up false appearances... I have a LOT of questions. We often say "that's people, not God", but God works through people. If the people who claim God are generally selfish and harmful, what do you think people will think about God? It seems we're more concerned with the perception of others than that love we have for them. As a Believer, we have FAILED in the love department. Even I can admit that. God's a big God and can handle it. I'm secure in my faith. I also think we become more secure when we ask the questions, when we're honest about where we are. I'm not going to pretend that I agree with something when I don't. I'm not going to pretend that I understand something when I'm confused. 💛 don't you think God wants us to ask these questions so we can get understanding? At some level, it can feel like we're more concerned with protecting our images as Believers that we are with the soul and well being of others...of those we're supposed to serve and love.

thank you for responding and I appreciate the conversation and your channel. Yes, by all means. Talk to GOD about everything that is on your heart and ask GOD any questions you have about this life. GOF welcomes that. Everyone notable in The Word was unsure of things. There was never a time that people asked and GOD’s reply was “shut up.” GOD’s way was come to Me. I am right here with you ... “come let us reason together.” And yes, people are a surely resource for those who follow Jesus, ..,, if they lead us to Him and not away. HE is Truth and others’ contradictory viewpoints are not. Some things about love and kindness are universal. However, some things about love are very specific to Christ’s teachings. They were not of this world. I would just encourage us (me, I’m speaking to myself first) to have a discerning spirit regarding who we choose to be taught by. If it doesn’t line up with The Word of GOD, it is not truth. Thanks for the converstion and feel free to go on and dissgree if you want to. It’s your channel. You’re the boss here. I am a guest. I carry on at your pace, as far as you like.. peace

Thank you so much for this video!! 🤎🤎🤎 I'm also revisiting how I have defined love in the past now in my 30s and it can absolutely bring up painful realizations. I really appreciate how you explained why 'brutal' honesty is not loving. I've been told that I'm too sensitive to handle the truth, but this makes PERFECT sense why it never lands - it's honesty minus the care that should be required when you're in relationship with someone. Thank you 🙏🏽🫂✨

Marissaaaaa! Thank you so very much!!! That's really generous of you. And yeeeeees! I am so glad that we're going back and interrogating and redefining such important things such as love. This is beautiful! And I completely understand the pain of it. 🫂🫂🫂💛💛💛 I am celebrating and am proud of you. And yes!!! It's honesty with the desire to make others small or belittle someone. That's not love at all. If we are in relationship with others, we should care about how THEM as much as the truth.🌺🌺🌺 Thank YOU. 🥰
