The New Milwaukee Forge M18 Fuel and MX Fuel battery platforms were announced late last year, and now that we've got our hands on it, we wanna answer the questions on everyone's mind. In this video I dive deep into the newly available M18 Fuel 6.0 Forge Battery, the soon-to-be-released 12.0 Forge battery, and both Forge batteries available on the MX Fuel equipment system.
I cover how these Forge packs work, what makes them special, and different ways you can incorporate them into your work on the jobsite and at home. We also discuss Milwaukee's new Supercharger, which they're claiming is their fastest and most powerful charger to date.
You'll see Milwaukee Forge featured in many head-to-heads in the coming months! So be sure to subscribe to the channel and stay tuned for more power tool content!

Their forge battery was the best battery I ever moved to. I’m a commercial electrician for 27 years.

I hope they make a 3.0 M18 forge soon too, like the 3.0 M18 HO, love them for my impact and nail gun where the extra weight and size of a larger battery is definitely noticeable

Kenny I’d love to see some testing on the Milwaukee top handle 2826-20T and their propensity to kill the batteries in my case that being two of the xc8.0 HO packs model 48-11-1880 ( the rear handle does as well just to a lesser extent ime) so I’d like to see someone do some testing on that model chainsaw maybe monitoring the pack while placed under heavy load to see how many peak amps it’s pulling because my bms chip was fried replaced and it works fine but oddly no visible marks on it but also curious if the voltage sag is reduced with the forge packs as I think the chainsaws are intended to use and really need the 6ho 6forge 12ah or at minimum the 8 which has been problematic ime and I’d say is the worst choice and it’s not just me. Search Milwaukee chainsaw battery killer there’s a few videos. If you search you’ll find them. It is more than just my suspicions. Just heat this warning. Make sure any battery you use in a Milwaukee. Chainsaw is still under warranty. Thank me later. Oh, and the 12 amp power packs always go out of balance in the center sell banks, so you have to manually balance out the pack and it’ll charge 24 bars again that’s if you’re having the only charge to three bars issue.

Sorry for that long-winded message talk to text and I had a lot of shit to say on the subject last six months I’ve killed a couple batteries and could not figure out why until really digging in and I’ve talked to a few people who have been experiencing similar problems

Milwaukee sells their drill and impact driver combo kits to get people into their ecosystem and makes money off bare tools and batteries. My 12AH batteries are working like a charm.

I like the 6.0 forge. It is handy when I need more torque but less weight. I think the m18 12.0 forge will be game changer for the m18 table saw. And whole hog Right angle drill. I do want to know when it comes out. As with all Milwaukee batteries best to get them in kits or sale deals

I just don’t think the little bit of performance gain is worth replacing my other batteries. When my old batteries die maybe it’s worth the upgrade.
@jman42s
@jman42s 5 ай бұрын
I’m not replacing mine but I’ll buy a few of these as I find deals on them. I’ve followed a progression: as my XC 5.0s that are standard in most kits have become my bottom of the barrel batteries they have been moved to being used on tools that don’t require a lot of battery (lights, radios, vacuums, occasionally any tool but only when I just need to drive a small screw, drill a smaller hole, or make a single cut or otherwise less demanding task), my HO batteries have become my batteries for tools used most of the time and definitely high demand applications. I’ll pick up a few of the Forge batteries for use cutting/drilling thicker materials or holes, and driving larger fasteners or tools I’m going to be using all day.

Hopefully the tabless cells do better than the current packs with overheating. Particularly with grinders and most notoriously the 9 inch cut saw. Love that saw but constantly worrying my next cut will trip the battery is a bit of a let down. I would spend the money to know i dont have to worry about it
@Azaduur
@Azaduur 2 ай бұрын
Bro same, I'm hoping those tabless 12.0 forge batteries can handle the 9in cutoff saw. Watching 4 12.0 HOs blinking on the floor after some concrete scoring is depressing.
@xTBA50x
@xTBA50x 2 ай бұрын
@@Azaduur i know it won’t replace my gas saw, and i use it accordingly. Making small detailed cuts with brick and stone mostly, so if im mindful the overheating is only an issue on hot days. Would still be nice to not have to worry about it, thinking”well I’ve make a few consecutive cuts, better let it sit a minute”. I couldn’t imagine doing concrete with it, you’d probably get at most a couple feet before overheating lol
@Azaduur
@Azaduur 2 ай бұрын
@@xTBA50x I use it to score concrete to bust out short trenches in bathroom remodels. Moving shower drains mostly. Running the gas saw in those confined spaces within peoples homes generates complaints. Its just barely good enough to score a 1'x4' trench but for the price of the MX i could buy several tools that'd be used more often.

Are M12 Forge batteries announced ? Like maybe a Forge XC 7.0 or 8.0 for high demand tools such as a Hacksaw, Circular saw, Vacuum, Blower, or a rotary hammer drill!

You can not place pouch cell in m12 handle like 18650 so only it's in the bottom of the handle. I don't think milwaukee is gonna release anything like it. Too expensive for 12v tools and too few people who are not satisfied with 5.0 ho batteries

That's an interesting thought for sure! No news on the Forge front, but a similar expansion is the M12 High Output batteries they launched late 2022 if you wanna check those out.

@jman42s 5 ай бұрын
They’ll probably get there eventually, with a similar form factor to the 4.0 and 5.0 m12 batteries but they just came out with the HO M12 batteries like a year and a half ago so they’ll wait until people buy a ton of those as the top dog M12 batteries first

Hi there just putting out there has anyone had issues with this battery have a issue limit to my high torque 1/2 only every other tool works great tool has had very little use as mid torque covers 99.5% of my needs but issue is almost starts like a soft start that ramps up slowly but only does with forge battery 8.0 n 6.0 it’s normal and more power very first time I used it with the forge battery it almost ripped the impact out of my hand and twisted my wrist on the first 3 bolts was impressive then lost a lot of power and slowly ramping up but no were near the torque even of a 5amp

That was almost 20 years ago my friend. How often do you hear of those batteries swelling up and exploding? If it was happening it would be all over the news. It's now a safe technology. Just don't overcharge them on a non OEM battery charger.

Ridiculously overpriced chargers! Pouch cells are not new, are less expensive to produce, and they still have the nerve to price them higher than the normal batteries.
@JD-yx7be

there are multiple chemistries of each type of battery. A pouch cell in a cell phone is a very low output battery that might peak at 5 watts. A power tool can peak at over 2000 watts

I’m sorry but I don’t buy the whole new supercharger thing. First off they only officially compared it to the dual voltage rapid charger and secondly the charge times quoted mean it’s max output is identical to the old supercharger. Now I understand that despite the advertised specs, the new super charger is indeed faster than the old one, but it appears to be that only applies to the new forge packs only. Regardless that was crap and honestly insulting marketing. Also their is plenty wattage in a standard 120v, 15 amp circuit to charge both packs at full power. Sadly the new supercharger can’t do that and instead of just stating the truth, Milwaukee spun this as an advanced feature. The reality is they cheaped out and made the charger weaker then it perhaps could be. I know the new forge packs are awesome and the new super charger is faster then the old one, with a forge battery, but this sleazy and honestly insulting marketing has really turned me off of the whole thing. Just be honest and tell it like it is, trying to spin a weakness as an advantage only indicates that you believe your audience is too stupid to know otherwise. C’mon Milwaukee do right by your customers!
