Every dollar certainly counts. But I’m thinking I ll save in not having to buy as many new batteries. Plus less charge time = more production time.

Okay so what I am seeing, is do NOT purchase these if you already own HO batteries and are happy with them. These are for people who need to upgrade anyways, buy batteries for crews, or just like having the newest toys. I love my HO batteries, and would LOVE to see Milwaukee make a 12.0 with these to cut down on the size and weight. Thank you for what you do Vince!

My understanding is that most of the smaller M18 tools simply don't have motors that can make use of the extra power yet. The 12AH Forge is NOT using Li-Po (pouch lithium), it's using Tabless cells, like from Tesla's battery day. They can theoretically output about 5x the wattage for the same heat (heat is always the limiting factor in batteries). Li-Po can also output more power, so I expect 36v tools like the lawnmower to be remade supporting single-battery Forge at some point in the near future.

Like you said Vince, for 20 bucks more you get a much better and improved battery and the recharge cycle much higher, in the end you get what you paid for. And if you cannot afford one you can always buy the original one. It's nice to have options.

I have 4, 3.0 2, 6.0 2, 12.0 that was a lot of money and I sue them daily hence why all the batteries usually enough to run 2 3.0 slap them on the rapid charger and then be able to swap out the two. If people wanna rush out and drop dough on a slightly new let system and a “matching” super charger go for it but my batteries of “old” work just fine and untill they break/can’t hold a charge I’m not rushing out to buy more batteries (forged)

The problem is they were minor gains over the six amp, our high output, and these are supposedly on par with the 12 amp hour as far as power output goes, which didn’t appear to be the case here and on top of that the 12HO’s obviously still have twice the runtime so… what on earth are we doing here? Kind of feels like a Sharknado movie but with marketers instead of sharks

I currently use the M18 Fuel Attachment Trimmer with Quik-Lok (2825-20) and M18 Fuel Blower (2724-20) with M18 High Output XC 6.0. If I upgrade to M18 Forge XC 6.0, will I see a performance improvement with either of these tools? Lastly, I am aware that the M18 Forge XC 12.0 is in development. Do you know if a compact version of the M18 Forge XC, ranging from 1.5 - 3.0, will be introduced?

These new Forge batteries seem like a nice improvement, more charge cycles and slightly more power. However, it looks like it is slightly smaller than the HO 6 amp battery. That is kind of disappointing. I thought that one of the main benefits of these pouch cell batteries was a significant reduction in weight and size.

Last comment. I’d grab a forge battery for the tools it just makes sense running them in, meaning high output, high demand, and high performance tools; otherwise, imo, normal m18 battery just fine for probably 80-90% of time or can go HO XC batteries as well, and then if need the Forge batteries ya can se em….options, pretty nice and also would be nice if pricing would reflect little better; as MILW kinda did a slick move when new packout drawers landed w/ pricing on prior 2 and 3 drawer packouts to make pricing for new drawer packouts to “make sense” I guess 🤔 (I’d personally like em to go in a different way, but ok…..lol); so will be interesting to see if new forge batteries make any difference w/ pricing at all, or things stay same w/ more options and prices are what they are. Do like that batteries should LAST LONGER for charge cycles on pouch lithium compared to cylindrical cells, so that’s a plus, but I’m curious to see real world data of ppl using the forge batteries in colder temps, as we know lithium batteries don’t like it too cold, or too hot; they prefer it “just right”….😂 ✌🏻

Not trying to be rude at all. But I just don’t think you explained it very well. The 6 ah m18 forge battery will run as long as a regular m10 6ah battery but have to power of a m18 12ah battery . Is that correct? Wish they would come out with something like that for their M 12 line.

Did get little annoying w/ Gen 4 hammerdrill when autostop would turn off tool for my “benefit” at times when just needed tool to go and wasn’t in any danger; far as wrist breaking, etc….maybe battery and tool and the magic inside weren’t getting along and decided to fight it out, lol, but Gen 4 are still good powerful tools; but sometimes just don’t need all that power, imo….. When you cut through the top flange on the I-beam you held the blade at a much shallower angle on the HO than you did with the Forge. That adds about 5-6 minutes to the cut time , make the tests even please. I have 5 Forge so far as I replace older batteries and they are not a 20% torque improvement on the Super Sawsall. I did the same test at home with an I-beam with a 10" web and saw about a 10% improvement.

Is pouched technology actually batter? Pouched batteries are more fragile. They do swell like in laptops and phones. I am guessing Forge has multiple pouches stacked. If 1 swells, there will be major issues. Personally I never encountered standard round cells swell. Die sure, but never swelled. But I have like a dozen old pouch cell batteries from phones, tablet, and laptop that I had to replace due to swelling.

It looks like a cool upgrade if you have a bunch of 6.0s that you have to recharge a lot. For $50 more dollars, you get 12.0 and I would assume fewer charges, which negates the benefit of the 6.0 Forge having more recharges. I'm sure my math is skewed with 2x the AH vs 3-4x recharges.

Even on an impact or drill, i think forge or HO 6.0 are way too big. Theyre better reserved for higher powered tools like sawzalls, circ saw, hammer drill, cordless chop saws etc. Especially if those are used daily...if those big tools are used once in a while i think you can get away with even a smaller battery like 5.0s or 3.0 HO.

Less downtime charging = more uptime in my saws and drills. $$$ Also, if Milwaukee is correct, and the Forge batteries last 1,500 charging cycles, that’s 3x more than the standard. So fewer dead batteries in the end, and less downtime. Makes it worthwhile compared to the regular 6.0s

Its not much different than the regular to ho upgrade in terms of power out. When the tools motor output was the limit, it changed nothing. When the battery voltage drop and current output is the limit, it lets the tool ramp more. Seeing a home made 12ah forge battery (2 in parallels) running a fuel drill overheat the motor because theres more power than the motor can dissipate tells me the battery tech, based on current tools, is starting to max out their designs and software is becoming the name of the game. In testing the forge batteries have even less voltage drop than a 12ah, which means not only more torque, but it will burn through the 6ah capacity faster as its quite literally moving more energy since the voltage is higher

I have a bunch of 8ah high output batteries with several dead cells and they didn't start dieing till i started using them on The m18 fuel Weedeater I need to get 21700 cells to repair the Batteries no longer under warranty

@@VCGConstruction no idea there Only 6 months old 12 of them are 8ah batteries and 4 of them are 12ah batteries there all 6 months old none of them had any issues on other tools but when i started using them on the m18 fuel string trimmer they all started losing cells to the point they only charge to 1 bar now and Milwaukee refused to replace them or even fix them so now I have a bunch of useless batteries that are only good for using on Small tools

Hey Vince they say that the 6amp. Forge is as powerful as the 12 you should make comparison the 6 and the 12 run test see how it goes on price comparison the forge 6 its $199 and Milwaukee 12 am it's $250 it's worth get new technology it's is you're saving $50 that's pretty good I think 💬 🤔 Milwaukee is caching up with DeWalt flex and eggo they have new technology ove battery that's goo Vince that Milwaukee moving up that's good!!

If only they used new tabless 21700 cells like they out in the new mx fuel packs, they would have 8ah instead of 6ah and even more power.

If these batteries came out 5 years ago I'd be on board, but with the way the supply chain fell apart I'm not buying that these things will last as long as stated. Actually, I'd bet money they won't.

You forgot one Major Important comparison point here. That would be the HD 6.0 aH battery as a base. The power coming out of these batteries is still ONLY 18 Volts, No More. The Amp Hour size does not allow the tool to work harder, it only allows the tool to work at its optimal working point for a Longer time. As far as buying batteries is concerned, that only applies if you are one of the people that does not watch your videos where you tell everyone Not To Buy Batteries By Themselves, But rather when they come as a Kit or Free w/ purchase or some type of combo.

While the voltage remains at 18 regardless, the difference is the discharge rates which does allow the motor to draw higher current if demanded. The difference is quite significant between generations. the XC6.0 HO for example is capable of nearly twice as high peak amperage draw than the XC5.0. Irrelevant for the most part on say, an impact driver. But a chainsaw or table saw with knotted woods or an Impact wrench trying to crack loose rust welded fasteners on big rigs or equipment can be an immense difference. The FINAL output values will be similar, but I'd much rather spend 2 seconds on a fastener than 10 very loud, high vibration seconds. Most people and most tools won't benefit from High discharge rate batteries, but the motors that do can make a massive difference in the usefulness of the tool

What I’m seeing is there’s a clear difference between a pouched battery in a tool platform built for pouched batteries than there is for a system originally built for cylindrical cells.

It didn’t seem like the investment in high output batteries had really paid off any where near what milwaukee sold us on, so ok sure…Maybe it last longer…but how does it have as much power output as a 12 if it’s not even decisively beating 6HO’s. And lastly, we all know before these batteries die milwaukee will have a new battery tech to sell us on so I’m not concerned with the lifecycles. I just want the most powerful, most compact, most well made tools…and they can save all the marketing money and invest in the tools instead that would be great.
