The video covers a standard basic race course used in Model Yacht Racing. Although simplified for novice viewing it covers some of the reasons we use a Windward Leeward course for racing Model Yachts.
A short video intended for beginners or those with little knowledge of Radio Sailing or Model Yacht Racing.

How do I form a DF 65 club? Can anyone give me some advice? I sail with a group of 6-8 guys. How to encourage women into the sport?

In the UK you can contact the MYA (Model Yachting Association) and apply for club status with them. Lots of info on their website. If you find an answer to your last question please let us know!

0:54 ‘course board similar to this’ …and it doesn’t make sense to me. There’s no explanation about it and the line drawn doesn’t make sense to me, a novice, either.

Course boards can look complicated, they tend to be very quickly drawn by the race officer and often change from race to race, or even several times before a race! This is generally due to changes in wind direction during racing. That particular course board is showing a course very similar to the one outlined in the video, however there appears to be an error, in that, Buoys 1 and 2 should be transposed on the diagram. The drawn line at the bottom is intended to represent the shoreline. The list of numbers on the right hand side are Buoy numbers in the order they are to be passed. Therefore... Start is between the two cross buoys, first mark is number 1 Buoy (actually no 2 on the diagram, ref error) and 'P' means you pass the buoy on your boat's Port side, next mark is buoy 2 (actulally 1... blah, blah) again to Port, next head towards the Leeward Gate, next, back up to 1 again, and so on. Finish line is between 5 and 6 Hope this helps, thanks for your comments
