What is Molinism? What is a Molinist? What is middle knowledge? How does Molinism explain the relationship of God's sovereignty and human responsibility/free will? Is there anything in the Bible that supports the Molinist viewpoint?

I'm here watching because I also "thought of" Molinism, and then learned there's already a name for it lol I too have an engineering background.

Yeah I also “thought of this” and knew that there’s no way someone hadn’t thought of this already.

Same here. Reflecting on God omniscience and His omnipotence in relation to creation allowed me to reconcile many passages that didn't fit well within either Calvinism or Arminianism. Also, I was on track to be an engineer before the Lord called me into ministry. And my brother did become an engineering professor.

I found this Molinism way of thinking from listening to Frank Turek. It makes sense. I was not a science major but my husband is an engineer. Does that count??!! 🙂

I believe GOD is outside of time, and we are inside time. We are stuck on a linear path l, not knowing the future! GOD see time from above, from beginning to end, if there's even an end! I believe there is an end to time itself. When that occurs, GOD will pull us out of time and place us with-in HIS realm, where there is no time but a pure state of infinite existence!!!!!!!!!! Praise HIS Name Forever!!!!!!!!!!!

It's easy to understand how God knows what our free will choices will be. He's in eternity outside of our time confined space. That's how He knows the end from the beginning. It's also how Jesus appears in person, or by voice, throughout the Old Testament (angel of the LORD), though being born in our timeline, once ascended, He is in eternity with access to all of our human timeline. Isaiah 46:9-10 KJV ... *_for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,_* [10] *_Declaring the end from the beginning,and from ancient times the things that are not yet done,_* saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

For the "if God is placing people in situations he knows will cause them to act a certain way" objection, I agree that foreknowledge isn't causal but I would also add that it is impossible for God to not place people in situations where He knows what they will do. God knows the end from the beginning. If He creates a world AT ALL He will be placing people in situations where He already knows what they will do. So, then the question is does He do this in such a way that His purposes are accomplished? And scripture would clearly indicate that He does.

Once GOD creates time to unfold the way it does and places HIS created man and woman in it, is we are now bound to operate with -in the confines of the time HE just created? However he is not bound by time, space or matter.

It's easy to answer this question-- Because God is the origin and source of all that is known. The only contradiction is saying God has 100% rule over all things err... except for this one tiny thing that just so happens to exist apart and independent of His active purpose, active sustaining, active causation, and active desires (his freewill). There has never been nor ever will be a universe where that is actually the case. People can dream up some hypothetical reality in their minds, but it will always be that, a hypothetical that does not actually exist. At the end of the day, Molinism does not really exist to defend the sovereignty of God as it claims it does, but to protect the sacred cow of man's (so-called) freewill.

calvinism light or hyper arminianism. This seems like they're really trying wedge in some philosophy so they could feel comfortable without offending either determinists or provisionists.

because foreknowledge doesn't affect free will. God can present someone with a true free choice and know which they will choose at that exact time and in no way violate their free will to do so. think of it this way.. by giving loving freedom to my wife I have given her the choice to either choose only me or to cheat on me. she goes and takes a shower and I see her phone light up. she's been conversing with a man who shes planning on going to meet and cheat on me with when she gets out of the shower. I know what she is going to go do. I put the phone down exactly as it was and I do not give her any idea that I know what she is planning on doing. she goes and cheats on me. did my foreknowledge of her going to do this and her choice she's made to cheat on me affect her completely free choice to go and do it? this obviously isn't a perfect analogy however this was something I thought about when I was saved before I knew what molinism or arminianism or calvinism was and I'd like to hear if it helps you at all.

@@brandonkiplinger4961 Nobody has ever claimed that it is the foreknowledge itself that violates free will. But rather that foreknowledge (at least metaphysically-infallible foreknowledge) is impossible if one genuinely has more than one possible option in any given situation. If you can use your knowledge of a person to perfectly predict how they will act in any given situation., ten that implies that determinism is the case. Otherwise, the most you could do is figure out the probabilities of the various options.

@@fanghur not at all. if you affirm God's omniscience you can absolutely understand how he could know the free choice in each situation beforehand . it's shown throughout scripture with Abraham, Paul etc

@fanghur
@fanghur 2 жыл бұрын
@@brandonkiplinger4961 No, I couldn’t. Because omnipotent and omniscient do not imply the ability to do things that are logically impossible. Indeterministic events are by their very nature unpredictable. Not merely epistemically, but also ontologically. No amount of knowledge of the present state of an indeterministic system is sufficient to perfectly predict how it will evolve. Best, you can only predict the ways that it *might* evolve.

Molinism completely moves away from the true gospel, it does not depend on the man who wills, but on God who HAS THE MERCY Romans 9 v 16, Johns gospel 1 v 13 who were BORN not of blood nor of the will of the flesh NOR OF THE WILLOF MAN BUTOF GOD to believe anything else IS TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE GOSPELOF CHRIST
