What is QuEChERS?

Aren’t the salts used (Na, Mg) not mass spec compatible? Even with centrifuging, you can’t really ensure all salts were removed to an acceptable level.

All samples are going to introduce some levels of contamination in to the analytical system. The key is finding the right balance between cleaning and cost of sample preparation versus cleaning and maintenance of the instrument. QuEChERS extracts are then typically cleaned with dSPE cleanup and are widely analyzed by mass spec. While they may not be pristine samples, they are quick and easy ways to clean what are typically very dirty food samples.

Yes, it is magnesium sulfate and also typically includes some buffering salts as well.
